    Really nice things I love about Tokyo's Splash: 1. According to the lore, the machinery at 0:43 are supposed to be the mechanisms of the lift hills and were invented by the Beaver Brothers for transport after the Moonshine incident that caused the mountain to flood. 2. The queue is mostly indoors and you get to see how all the critters live in the mountain (there are also more critter houses scattered throughout the whole land). You even get to see a grandfather owl telling children stories about the mountain. 3. This is the only version of Splash Mountain to have a departure sound effect. A frog croaks to signal the departure of a log from the loading station. 4. The outdoor sightlines only show Frontierland and Critter Country; making it the only Splash with consistent sightlines (notice the tree covering Cinderella Castle from view at 6:23 ). 5. There are longer transitions between outdoor and indoor scenes to keep as much sunlight out of the dark ride show scenes as possible. 6. The first drop is covered to give a more sudden cartoon world transition effect (just like the Zip-a-dee-doo-dah number in Song of the South. 7. "How do you do?" Is called "Now turn back" in Japanese and the whole beginning scene shows Bre'r Rabbit leaving his home and there's a more noticeable contrast between the different show scenes in this version. Every other set is brighter and looks more appealing than home. 8. There's random fish leaping out of the water. 9. The dog in a boat and hitchhiking alligator are both in this ride but appear in different parts of the ride from California. 10. At 8:53, you can see some moonshine on a boat, hinting at the backstory of the ride. 11. The window shown at 12:47 is connected to the Splash Mountain restaurant (Grandma Sara's Kitchen) and guests can see the logs pass by while they eat. The umbrellas directly after this window are outdoor seating for the restaurant. I personally prefer the indoor seating because you get to enjoy the theming while being able to watch the logs. 12. The walkways around the mountain are elevated so guests are level with the track and can wave at guests on logs more easily. This also brings more kinetic energy and interaction to the area. I just consider this ride to be the best in the Tokyo Disney Resort.

    11 is definitely not true, I’ve been stopped multiple times, namely right before the laughing place drop, at the brer rabbit capture scene before the final lift hill, and at brer rabbits home before the unload station 8 is also untrue, if you watch old videos of magic kingdom’s splash you can hear that soundtrack

    @@tigermoth00 I think I also remember stopping in the final lift before. Getting stuck at brer rabbit's home before the load station happens all the time too. It's just extremely rare to stop midway in tokyo unless there's a breakdown. Also, by old videos, does that mean they stopped using the score in Florida at some point, or did it still play in the lifthill until closing? Regardless, I'll remove the inconsistent information.

  • @idk-zt8rx

    @idk-zt8rx

    8 ай бұрын

    @@ChrisandToryTVandYoshiitoo so basically, there was a raccoon named Rackety Raccoon who was illegally making moonshine. One day, the moonshine explodes and destroys a nearby dam, causing the mountain to flood. Instead of leaving the mountain, the critters decided to just adapt to their new conditions and build a log flume system to travel through the mountain and call it Splash Mountain. The bottle of moonshine in the boat is supposed to be evidence of the former illegal operation and could be Rackety's boat.

    Only because it does not culturally translate to racism in Japan. If only American white slave owners didn’t do what they did to an entire people, maybe the stereotypes of African American slaves then wouldn’t be what it is today with said contrived stereotypes. @@millcity9711 Not necessarily. OLC does own and operate Tokyo Disney Resort, but Disney holds the license and can (and has) put pressure on them to change things according to company standards. Hopefully they do not do this with Splash Mountain, but theoretically Disney could threaten them with pulling the license if they are non-compliant. Every single thing they put into the parks has to be approved by Disney.

    Ever since I began traveling to Tokyo for work and fitting in day trips to TDR, I stopped visiting the American moneypits (parks). I hate to say this because I know Tokyo is out of reach for at least 90% of American guests, but TDR makes DL and WDW look like overpriced, mediocre relics of better days-which they are. Long live Splash Mt. in TDL!

    It’s so fascinating how many of the pivotal moments of the ride are placed on the opposite side as they were in the American parks, like Br’er Rabbit’s home in the finale and Br’er Fox’s lair being put on the right instead of the left. I wonder why?

  • @practicalpisces

    The Japanese read from right to left. The order of importance for (almost?) anything is from right to left, so their theme park attractions are often mirror images of those in Florida's Disney World Parks and Universal Studios theme park.

    Because of the park's layout, Tokyo couldn't build their version on the same side of the river as the American versions. Because of this change, large portions of the ride had to be mirrored to make the ride work in a different location within the park.

I don't even have anything against the princess and the frog having its own ride, I just don't think Disney should retheme one of its most popular and beloved attractions for it, ESPECIALLY one based off a movie as controversial and offensive as song of the south
