I must have Terror of Hemosaurus. That looks like “Crush, Crumble and Chomp” & “War of the Monsters” had a baby! Love it! I’m a HUGE fan of Rain On Your Parade as well. As a matter of fact, my wife and daughter (yep, that very same 5 year old), are huge fans too. Jay, if you haven’t checked it out yet, and need a good laugh, one of my more epic, skit video reviews was for Rain on Your Parade. If you’re ever seen the film Flash Gordon, you’ll see where I’m going in the video from the get-go. It’s over a year old now and I feel it’s truly entertaining, especially if you’re a fan of the game. Besides, you’ll probably never in your life again hear in one sentence where someone uses all three forms of the word: rain, reign and rein. That was a Shakespearean feat of I do say so myself. Thanks for the great list of games with a couple I need (and a couple I love already). 😎😁

Good video man! Final Fight in the arcade was my intro to beat'em-ups, and along with Streets of Rage is the reason I still like them to this day.

This is a fantastic list with some really fun games. I have most of these but I'll have to try the couple I do not. As for the spiritual successors, I knew you'd say Rain on Your Parade (which I don't disagree necessarily), but I feel like an argument could be made for Donut County as well. Also, Kaze is wonderful but I never got SMW vibes from it as much as I did the original Donkey Kong Country games. But I can totally see where you are coming from. I'll have to try Cassette Beasts but I would also try Nexomon if you have not yet either. So in addition to Donut County and Nexomon, I will personally have to add Metaloid: Origin as a Mega Man spiritual successor or maybe better described as a clone or "inspired by" game (which could be another video). I love River City Girls 2, especially the music. The wife and I played all of them together. We're actually either going as Kyoko and Riki or May and Cody from It takes two for Halloween.

Another Adventure Island successor/love letter would be Miles & Kilo.

Donut Dodo and Murtop are my big recommendations, but the list is unending, including Bloodstained, Gunvolt, and Blazing Chrome.

Couldn't love this game more if I had a painting of the first one in my game room, Oh wait I do 😂 Devil's Island has a spiritual successor? I must try it. I've been far too relaxed and happy lately. Oh man kaze and the wild masks! Superb!! Although I would say it's one part kid chameleon one part Super Mario World and maybe one part Donkey Kong country. I've thought about this way too much

One spiritual successor you DON'T want on Switch is Bridge Strike. It's River Raid, but slow and crappy!

Recently grabbed a kinhank retro console and playing with my kids... Rampage is still a huge hit!

You're not wrong. There's certainly DKC inspirations, no doubt - spelling out K-A-Z-E, for example. But there's definitely SMW vibes as well, like having to find the hidden jewels like the Yoshi coins, bonus rooms that are far more Mario inspired than Kong, etc.

Cassette Beasts is excellent and i really wish i had the time to pay attention to it. It's awesome to have access to the next generation of gamers that have their own tastes, but tastes we've inspired! DIGIMON IS BETTER THAN POKEMON.

Be careful with that Mega Man shrine. When people get too into religion, factions start to form, and you may just end up causing a holy war between fans of Mega Man X and fans of the classic series.

I do enjoy some good video game recommendations. But the digimon line is extremely harsh. Digimon is not a temu pokemon clone. Both ideas are extremely different from each other, Digimons anime and stories are a lot darker, more mature than Pokemons. Nothing about the games even match Pokemons. Nothing about the animes match Pokemons and both didn't start out the same. Digimon started off as a tomagatchi line for boys, which were made by the tomagatchi brand themselves which were ripping themselves off. Pokemon started off as video games ripping off shin megami tensai . Both became animes based off of popularity, the only reason digimon is scorned in the west is because of bad marketing and no company that dubbed it took it seriously enough and just ran it down to the ground trying to compete with Pokemon even though it is its own thing entirely.
