Honestly, this movie is hilarious. It's more than Raimi's brand of campiness. There is so much garbage story-telling, bad pacing, terrible acting, and awful casting to go around in this movie that it's practically a meta-narrative for the Fall of the Spider-Man franchise.

Sure, then it could be considered a decent above average, but today, it's one of the better sequels. Plus, definitely better than all the latest Spider-Man movies in recent years - So no, this movie can't be blamed. The fact that the fourth film was never made is to blame. And one more thing ... In all seriousness, Spiderman 3 taught me that not all heroes are good, and that's how I changed my perspective with superheroes. This movie taught me that even Villians have some good inside of them. This movie taught me that you should never abuse your power. This movie taught me about regret and shame. This movie taught me that even strong humans can go nuts. This movie might be the biggest and if not, the best movie in the whole MARVEL universe. at least, for now.

@@myleg... no he wasn't. at a certain point in the movie he regains his memory when he sees his father in his mirror. he did pretend he still had amnesia though when he was talking with peter in a cafe when he winked at him but he still did have amnesia before all of that.

“Without being inhibited by closed-minded executives” the extra layer to the (I think) joke here is that the reason this movie was such a rushed poorly thought out mess is because Sony made Sam Rami do a movie with Venom/Symbiote when Sam Rami had no interest in that. Sam Rami has always been famous for his camp but when you try to tell a darker and edgier story, that camp can be a serious pitfall. Sam Rami knew what kind of villains he should use to tell a great story with respect to his style and Sony walked all over that.

It was a different time. It was highlighting the inner turmoil of Peter Parker being in a black, symbiote suit, knowing that he was disgracing his Uncle's memory, in order to appease Ben, he took to a darker, more aggressive side.

He has gone too far on a few places.

Every time Jame's Franko does the Home Improvement "huh?" sound I'm reminded just how incredibly brilliant Spiderman is at making movies. This is a superhero who truly understands the language of tv and film. When Harry makes that sound in the coffee shop, he's essentially saying "I'm going to Improve my Home. I'm dating a great woman now, and together we will have three beautiful sons named Jonathan, Taylor, and Thomas." It's amazing. In this one tiny "huh?" sound, it's perfectly conveyed to the audience why Harrison is smiling and why Tobey Maguire (played by the director himself, Spiderman) feels so threatened. Seriously some genius filmmaking. Next level, if you will.
