If you know the hardware specs of both systems, it’s really unbelievable what the developers had done here on a ps1.

The characters models definitely look better on Dreamcast than on PlayStation and more than likely the Nintendo 64 version. The colors and textures look sharper on DC. One of the better comic book games to come out during this era.

Dc had 10 times faster of cpu,8 times greater of RAM and 4 times faster of gpu.The hardware of ps1 was so bad,the geometry couldn't be calculated precisely

I have no idea why they redid the pre-rendered cutscenes. Unless they just wanted the models to look consistent with gameplay.

Also late, but yeah, they’re heavily compressed and feature lighting way better than either console could manage, but still weirdly muddy textures. Guess they couldn’t be bothered to make higher quality assets for the pre rendered stuff

Dreamcast is definitely the best one, and it looks graphically appealing

Imagine if the game was only made for the Dreamcast and you had graphical quality of RE Code Veronica.

Interesting to note some of the timing is different on the cutscenes as well on ps1 we see spiderman walk onto the screen during the expo while on dreamcast hes already standing there

To be honest, the Dreamcast version had much better graphics than PlayStation version, it's okay but I prefer Dreamcast because the graphics, that's it

brings back memories, though i played it on pc, its interesting to see the differences, most of the stuff looks better on the Dreamcast version, but Black Cats texture for example is better on the Plyastation, but the character models are, again, better on Dreamcast.

I also like the more vibrant color palette of the ps1 version, but yeah, everything else is better on Dreamcast, especially the more consistent framerate.

It's not about who made it more clear, but it is about which one is more capable.

Does the Dreamcast version have loading screens as often as the PS1 version?

The Dreamcast version runs smoother and it looks more polished, character models look better too ( I mean look Spider-Man even got fingers on that one). I also think the Dream Cast runs full 60 fps. But the ps1 version don't look bad either it got vibrant colors and it look more cartoon style but it got FPS dibs in some parts like the ones that got more draw distance. Is noticeable that the Dream Cast had the hardware advantage.

Was an amazing game...truly the first great super hero game. was mind blowing seeing spidy climb on 3d walls.

Issue with this comparison is the video creator probably used filters for the ps1. I don't remember it's being clear of pixels as daylight.

Here's my address at 123 Maple Street. No not Nepal, Maple. Office number 69 on floor 420. No, 420 not 450. Uh yeah, he's 6'3", Caucasian, and dressed in a giant scorpion costume." All while the dude is in the room actively trying to kill you. "Hey Jack, call the police!" Is much more doable. I don't know if you've ever had to call 911 but the dispatchers aren't always the brightest.

@@6GenGamer In my case, it depends on what TV I use. My CRT TV looks worse in my case with the Dreamcast than my flat-screen TV, oddly. Soldier of Fortune on my CRT can look brown & dark like the inside of a paper bag, and Kiss Psycho Circus, the green skies in Peter Criss's realm look teal. Even as a kid, the old CRTs at the time made everything look dark for Dreamcast games. I think the machine struggled with coloured lighting with what little RAM it had and output on CRTs, because the PS2 and consoles after doesn't look dark on my CRTs. PS1, N64 and 3DO looks dark like the Dreamcast in my case, though. My CRT is dated May 2000 and my old CRT as a kid from 1993, so it's not like I'm using something from the 1980s.

The spiderman model in the cutscenes on the dreamcast version looks like the model in the enter electro cutscenes

I didn't know that Dream Cast version existed

I really wish with all the spiderman games they stuck to the comic book look.

Today's public just can't seem to enjoy a game unless it has hyper realistic graphics, look at the constant bash towards games like Zelda for not looking realistic, so if they wanted to sell their game they had to go for the realistic approach, even the Batman Arkham series had to go this way, so yeah, sadly if a game went with a comic book style it would be considered niche

You know after so long and even watching some cutscenes earlier, i never questioned why black cat never wore her eye mask

The Dreamcast version is Spiderman 1 with Spiderman 2 Enter Electro graphics.

Except Toy Story 2, the Dreamcast port is shit compared to the PS1/N64 versions.

Dreamcast is more advanced but character sprites aren't as properly good compared to the PS1 original.

The PS1 don't have this graphic, the emulation help to show a better resolution...

_Should_ be a no brainer with the Dreamcast's power, but in some ways I still prefer the PS1 version. Many of these ports seemed a bit lazy. I remember being excited for Dino Crisis on Dreamcast, but ended up preferring/buying the PS1.

Yup, because the intro of Spiderman 2 for PS1 (and PS1 only) was basically downgraded from the Dreamcast one :)

Perhaps in gameplay spirit, I kinda feel you there. A lot of 3D game design was still rather nascent in 1998. Hardware capability wise though I’d say it has more in common with the 6th gen than 5th. Sonic Adventure 2 with its razor sharp textures and relatively smooth character models (at a flawless 60 fps) is on a different planet from what the PS1 and N64 could do

@@deedeemerry1295 They literally did though, at one point... In 1991, they overtook Nintendo in market shares with their smash hit, Sonic the Hedgehog. Not even Nintendo with Mario could beat Sega with Sonic, back in 1991.

The n64 version sucked compared to the ps1 and dc lack of audio and visuals and no cutscenes only comic like pictures. (Smh)

Should also be noted that the PS1 version is the original release and the Dreamcast version is a port of the PC port.

Well, the PSX was a port. What could I say, I really love the PSX for the nostalgia sake. Good times! HAHAHAHA

@@ClaudioVarone3299 Well, the main issue with this game being on the Dreamcast is that.. well, it's the best version of it, definitely, but... Come on, the Dreamcast was 128 BIT! I'm sure that, had they developed this game for the Dreamcast only, from scratch, it would have been so much better... at least as good as the 2002 PS2 game :)

Which is wrong. I have this on both Dreamcast and PS1 and the Dreamcast port is nowhere near that dark. It isn't dark at all.

@@paulbell3682 Well, let's just say that PS1 ports on the Dreamcast are usually based on the PC versions of said games... Given the differences that there were at the time between... say, FIFA games on PC and on consoles, until the PS2 came out and levelled things down (the N64 was close enough, but not 100% identical), it's a shame that we never saw, like, FIFA 99/2000 on the Dreamcast...
