Perhaps the first ever legitimate time I was terrified.

It's funny how Monster Ock in the game looks nothing like his picture in the top of the screen. And I can't even tell which is creepier.

I still get that feeling in my heart when Monster Ock gets close. It's been years and that feeling is still there everytime I remember this.

I think one of the scariest parts about this is the computer's AI. Even if you were WAY ahead of him and skilled at making the most of your web swings; he'd suddenly get super close behind you so unexpectedly. That coupled with his noises and "DIIIIIEIEEEEEEE" just made this level far too scary.

This is what nightmares are made of.

I remember playing this game with my cousins. My much older cousin brought Resident Evil 2, and we constantly died at the first few zombies. Those death screens shook me to no end. I tried to make them play this game, but the older cousin constantly got bored and complained. Then we got to this level and he suddenly loved the game, and said it wasn't so bad after all.

Man, When I played that last boss on my childhood I indeed had this crazy adrenaline rush and my heart was beating so fast. Damn that monster ock. Those are memories I will never forget

Loved this game. The entire game was pretty damn good and that Carnage/Ock was freaking amazing. The perspective shifts on that last stage made that an incredible challenge. I loved it. Then I saw that ending and was completely let down. The Rhino bit, however, was pretty funny.

The campiness in this game, I fucking love it... LOL at Daredevil and the Punisher playing cards. I just seriously cannot imagine their live action versions with Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal in this situation because of how dark and gritty they are XD

Not just was I shit scared out of my mind at this part of the game when I meet Monster Ock at the first time but I was screaming all the time through out the entier level shouting "GET AWAY GET AWAY YOU FREK!" And wow it still is more scary then any moster or anything that any game company has been abel to make!

Before the Insomniac one, THIS was my definitive Spider-Man game. Fuck that last chase/fight though... I never forget it.

Best game ever. They should make more games like this. I don't care about graphics. Ah the old days... Miss em' dearly.

When I was younger, I used to be scared of Monster-Ock. But not much anymore!! This is why I often failed this level (most of all, I avoided it) because it was so intense and scary!!! Most of all, I couldn't understand this game!!!! But what to understand? HE'S SPIDER-MAN!!!! LOL!!!!

*EPIPHANY* So the symbiote left Cletus Kasady to save Doc Ock, and left Kasady there to die!! Spidey didn't save him either! That Symbiote is a two-timing jerk.

The symbiote can revive Kasady, so no,he's fine. In one comic, a doctor killed Kasady, trying to take the Symbiote for himself. The Symbiote basically told him to f off, revived Kasady, then killed the Doc.

p.s.someone should TOTALLY remake this game.it would be awesome with newer graphics and stuff...although,Monster Ock would probably be about 10x more creepy

The most intense thing I've ever played in a video game. Could never beat this as a kid.

This boss did a number on me as a child, to say the least... It caught me so off-guard.

20 years later, this shit STILL makes my heart race...Legit the first videogame boss that made me fucking terrified.

I ain't gonna lie, I remember playing this in the dark, and then having nightmares about it

God, I'm tensing up like I was still some kid playing this. Talk about a blast from the past.

The pressure was so intense.

This was the first time I ever got visibly frightened by a videogame. Even Carnage's "What Color do you bleed" line didn't get me because of how easy he was. But that design mixed with the voice and the many times I watched him beat Spiderman to death. Man, I was fucking frightened. And this is someone who played through Yume Nikki without a second glance.

What if when Punisher said go fish, Captain America stood up and said "HAIL HYDRA" and then proceeded to murder all of them.

Memories man, this is 1 of he best games. Epic story line and the ending was just brutal! Many games fail to present a heart pounding horrifying game like this, the creators did such a great job and this game deserves a lot of respect!

Spider-Man playing with a bunch a veterans is something I love to see 😭😭

I remember beating this game on my ps1.... Good times

jeez even spider man's commentary through this whole section shows how utterly terrified he his,even spouts fourth wall breaking control tips just cause he doesn't wanna die to that.

This thing gave me nightmares as a kid...I remember me and my dad frantically mashing the controller and screaming at the screen as this fucking beast came after spiderman...the worst part was how spiderman himself was scared of him...

God, I played the N64 version and still have it to this day. I beat this level in the tenth time. I was scared by him as a kid. Still, it was very satisfying to finally beat this level.

My heart beat is rising when i was playing the final part of the game... What a game man! What a retro!

This level was absolutely terrifying back in the day, It took me days to finally beat it.

I remembered this after watching the new Venom movie. It looks a little different than I remember. I also just realized that this monster was possibly how I got a nightmare as a kid where a small red tube shaped monster with doc ock arms chased me around my Grandma's house. The monster didn't look a lot like this monster, but it was red and had doc ock claws, so this game might have influenced that nightmare. I had no clue why I had that nightmare until now. That nightmare made me afraid of the dark for years!

I got fucking goosebumps just like when I was a kid.

Imagine this part combined with the hide and run parts of the SA-X...

Child hood i palyed this game in game centre.last few years i am searching for this scene finally founded.

How do Venom run into Captain America? Did he just wake up, and decided to not help Spider-Man, or did he see Monster Ock, and pissed his pants, too?

When I was about 4 years old, this was my favourite game on the PS1. I wouldn't stop playing this, but this last fight scared me shitless.

My older brother had this game. I didn't play the game because I wasn't a video game person when I was younger. But I loved watching my bro rage while trying run from Ock. Lol

I remember shitting my pants the first time I played this level back when I was 10 years old and now that I'm 19 I can breeze through this game in one hour

couldnt have summed it up any better. its just like one of those things you love no matter how bad it is.

I must say, this monster wasn't the scariest part of the level. The scariest part is that HE'S COMING FOR YOU. He can kill Spidey in one hit. You just can't let him catch you, but this maze is so fucking hard that it MAKES YOU AFRAID to lose. One mistake - and you're done. That's the scariest thing in any game - fear of losing.

I must have played this stage 100 times before I beat it. Started out as terror and ended up as frustration.
