Honestly this opening scene is just perfect; it introduces all its characters and their motivations, and basically gives Peter powers by the end of it; it's just so well paced and is such a great opening to a great set of movies

Now this feels like a film. It's not necessarily made to sell toys, not worried about cameos or giving references to other movies, not setting up multiple plot points for upcomming instalments. It's just in the present, focused on its characters and their relationships with one another, a film full of heart in it for the true fans of the genre.

Watched the Raimi movies more times than I care to admit, and I still NEVER skip the opening credits. Absolutely iconic theme ❤️

If it wasn't for No Way Home, I really don't think Sony would be celebrating this milestone. The original Spider-Man films are some of my favourite superhero films so I'm glad they are getting the recognition.

Everybody is appreciating Tobey but they are overlooking Franko and Willem excellent performance in this scene. Their Father-Son duo is top notch

Danny Elfman's score was so good. Gave me goosebumps. Such a heroic composition. You can tell it's a superhero theme without watching the movie. The violin section swings like a Spider-Man does

This movie changed filmmaking history forever and changed the game (yes, Blade and the first X-Men movie paved the way for this movie to be made). Future generations will see this movie and it will be epic like the first day. I swear I'm not crying.

X men and Blade still only attract certain fans but Spiderman managed to attract fans outside comic, superheroes troupe

Everyone can be Spiderman But only Tobey Maguire who can play as Peter Parker perfectly.

*20 years ago today, SPIDER-MAN was released - a movie that redefined the modern superhero genre, as well as the summer blockbuster. It didn't only break several box office records but also helped the entire 80-90s generation grow alongwith it.* *One of the biggest regrets I have though is not seeing it at the theater, but I can't blame myself as I was too young to go and watch it by myself, but when I watched it at home, I knew that I found new love in this fictional character, mainly because it felt grounded and real to me. Also, I was so mesmerised seeing the visual effects, specially the web-swinging stuff, that I had the urge to know how they managed to pull that off.* *I wrote this in my Spider-Man: No Way Home post and I'm repeating my words again, that all credit goes to this movie and its two sequels for me being a graduate in 3D Animation and Visual Effects. Many great movies will come and go but I don't think any movie will ever take that special place in my heart which this movie has.* *Thank you SAM RAIMI and TOBEY MAGUIRE for the holy OG Spider-Man trilogy.*

@@LayerZlayer2000 Spider-Man came out in 2002, I'm sure a 2000 born kid didn't start watching a film since day 1. And by the time Spider-Man 3 came out in theaters, a 2000 born kid was 6-7 years old max. and kids at that age don't understand movies or even watch in the first place. On the other hand, those who were born in 90s had sensibilities to understand movies and most of them were in their teens when Spider-Man 3 came out. That's what growing up means. We remember what all craze these films had back then globally, which 2000 kids don't remember. We remember how badly we wanted Sony special Spider-Man edition phones, which many 2000s don't even know that such phones even existed. I hope you're getting my point now. :)

Yep. This is still one of the best openings of all time

I don't know if people realize that this movie is scanned from a film master. Even though it has digital effects and CGI, back then there were no digital cameras good enough for a big screen movie, and there were no digital projectors to show it. So film was used to shot and to show it. This is a masterpiece and I'm sure the current MCU would not exist without this movie.

Allow me to 🤓 🤓 🤓 for a second... Attack of the Clones released the same month as this movie and was the first $100 million+ blockbuster shot entirely digital. It was only released in a handful of cinemas equipped with digital projection at the time, most theaters projected it on 35mm. In a way, this brief 2002 era represented the start of the digital revolution, a turning point from film to digital... Now nearly every blockbuster today is shot/projected digitally. It's a shame too, I still prefer the look and feel of film.

@@NathanDrakeTheGreat Attack of The Clones on film slaps. The grain hides a lot of the inconsistencies of CGI. Also, the cameras were quite noisy so they had to overdub a lot of the dialogue. That's why it's quite out of place at times.

20 years!? I remember coming out in theatre like it was yesterday. Commercial on tv, eating a pop tarts with the spider man promotion box, and the long lines to go inside and trying to find a empty seat. 2002 was wild because of this movie.

Ahh Spider-Man 1 where it all began,Just Legendary.

I was always so inspired and excited by this opening as a kid. The way the theme sounds like comic book pages being flicked through with the Marvel logo at the start is so genius, as if the comic is coming to life. I was 4 in 2002, how time flies.

Tobey Maguire will always be Spider-Man to me, because I grew up watching Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and I am proud of it.

My uncle I thank to this day for getting me into Spider-Man my childhood was literally perfect

This intro sequence is one of the most iconic openings in cinema history

While everyone hates the new movies for their excessiveness Everyone loves this one for its simplicity

This Movie DEFINED my childhood thank you to all the team that worked on this film especially sam raimi and tobey maguire you made my fantasy life into a reality!

there's just something so iconic about the intro to this movie, the webs against the pitch black background, the webs covering spider-man's suit, the theme song playing, then slowly moving from a web to a beautiful shot of New York, its a 10/10

Best Marvel movie ever

20 years later and the intro along with Danny Elfman's score never gets old. I'll never forget when I first saw this movie. It was right there where I knew spiderman was in good hands.

Always give me a goosebumps. Happy 20th years anniversary, SpiderMan.. My childhood moments. God, time was flies..

This opening will always remind me of the good old days, watching it on TV after returning from school. They were playing Spider Man literally every other day back then

When I watched this I felt bad and remembered when I was young and I had a CD for this movie I always watched and without it I would not have known Marvel. Indescribable feeling

Simply put, one of the greatest movies of all time. 10/10

I’ll never forget opening day. I had my cereal box water web shooter playing outside in the yard. When my dad said we couldn’t go. I think we went on a Sunday after eating at Ryan’s restaurant. I’ll never forget how alive the movie theater was. Men in black 2 was playing next door. Triple X trailer came out. This movie is just incredible. The music is so memorable. Tobey is my Spider-Man
