Early 2000s skate videos used this loads and I remember it was always a pain to do at that point with Final Cut. The audio ramping was the 'signature' back then, in particular ramping back to 100% as people cheer the landed trick.

I'm just making the transition from Premiere Pro to Davinci and really appreciate this! I was able to get right back into speed ramping and honestly, I think I have much more control over it in Davinci than I did in Premiere.
i literally was looking for exact that video for more then 6 hours now. You answered all my questions! thank you so much. And by the way I never wanted to watch an advertisement more in my life then this one. Thats so smart.
So helpful. Brilliant guidance

Is there any weirdness when you’re playing the 120fps footage at regular speed on a 24p timeline? Or do you just drop it in, and it doesn’t require tweaking? I’m referring to the non slowed parts.
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Just drop it in, it can look a bit odd at times because of the shutter speed but as long as the clips aren’t too long at real-time speed it’s usually okay.
Thanks dunna
Thank you for this. I have been using brute force 😭and it has been getting very messy further down the edit. This will definitely make thing much much better!
I been using it!
It’s like you’re reading my mind! Was just wondering how to use speed ramping haha. Awesome video man. Question, to use it well, is it advisable to always shoot with higher frame rates eg. 60 or 120 if you want to slow down some clips? Or is it still okay to speed ramp with regular 24fps? Hope my question makes sense
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Nice! If you’re planning on slowing down, you definitely want to shoot for that. Ideally, you’d know which shots were being slowed down and which ones weren’t or shoot everything twice to mix and match. 24fps slowed down will start to look choppy or mushy in most cases
Thanks 👏
Love me some Slo-Mo!

I film everything in 60fps, usually edit on a 60fps timeline also, in Premiere Pro. The question is: If I use the 60fps footage in a 30 fps timeline will the slow motions be smoother than it will be in a 60fps timeline?
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Yes! If you film in 60fps and edit on a 60fps timeline then try to slow down, it will have to double up frames which will make it choppy. The way to get smooth slow motion is to film at a high frame rate for delivery in a slower one (24fps is standard for cinema, 30 for television and online)
Nice Video Thx :) i hope Dunna grow to 100k youtuber. The Best tutorial.

Nice! Hopefully this made it easier to achieve what you want!
So, compliment first -- Your videos are top notch and I learn tons -- THANKYOU! Now, my challenge is I tried to use this method on one of my videos and totally trashed my audio (yes, I unlinked) and could not figure out how to stop the speed ramping from messing with my dialog. I tried keeping the clip speed at 100% over the section of the dialog but no matter I tried I couldn't get the result I wanted. Technique works great for video only; any chance you could make a video about retaining dialog recorded at the same time as the video?
This video is sooooo good it should be used in schools!🤩 What's amazing is that even though the clip was shot in 24fps and then slowed, there's no noticable "stutter"...wow!
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, I shot everything in 120fps so that when I slowed it down, it wouldn’t stutter. If your shoot in 24p and slow it down you’ll definitely have a bunch of jittery stuff. I think I mentioned that in the video but maybe it got cut weird. But thanks for the kind words!

The hardest part is matchning the speed ramps to the beat and make it look good. Would love to see a more detailed video on that!
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I’ll add that to my list of potential videos!
Thank-you! My big problem in multi-speed timelines is that at filming time, i can optimize for only one of them. I typically optimize for slow, so I shoot 60fps with 125 shutter speed, and a 24fps timeline. But then my “real-time” speed on a 24 timeline looks choppy. The faster-than-normal looks fine, and the 60 frames expanded to slow-mo looks good… but the real-time doesn’t. Someone suggested shooting 60fps with a slower shutter speed might help the real-time look better, and that I should switch to a 30 fps timeline.
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
Ugh, I know exactly what you mean. This is the real struggle and there is no great answer for it. There are a few parts even in this example where my 1/250 shutter makes me cringe a bit lol. Luckily they go by quickly.
@KathySierraVideo
2 жыл бұрын
@@dunnadidit thanks 😁🙏 I’m half depressed to know there’s no easy answer, but half relieved that I wasn’t missing something dead obvious. 🤷🏼♀️ I know the “correct” way is to plan all shots and shoot accordingly, but that’s not an option for me … my “actors” are horses. They don’t hit their marks. And they absolutely refuse to do the same scene twice 😅. But I reckon anyone shooting in more dynamic situations has the same struggle…
@dunnadidit
2 жыл бұрын
I think you’ve nailed it 100% and yeah anyone in that similar situation probably has those same struggles. 60fps is probably where I’d go too, maybe you can get away with 1/60 or 1/80 tho
