    I’m a Spence fan. But Tarver is 1000% percent right. Spence was not prepared by his team. Bud was the more talented fighter coming into the fight. So Spence and his team needed everything to be on point. Bomac and them boys had the more naturally gifted fighter more prepared and we saw the end result.

    Tarver is totally correct on this!!! I kept asking during the fight, what is Spence’s game plan?? It looked like Spence, who I was rooting for, had no real game plan and was not able to make any adjustments during the fight! Spence was too busy putting all them silly tats on his body for no reason and wasn’t really studying his opponent the way he should. I think Spence needs to drop Derrick James like a bad habit and do so immediately! There is not excuse to be that unprepared for such a huge occasion! I hope Spence can bounce back. I believe he will. Congrats to the champ Terrence Bud Crawford!

    it genuinely seem like Derrick James approach was just gassing up Spence. "he sorry, he can't do nothing with you, you're too big for him champ, do what you do every time, walk him down, pressure bust pipes, man down" and made zero gameplan, just "fight the way you fight every fight". meanwhile Crawford's team was prepped for this fight before it had even been made and had long been dissecting everything about Spence's game and working on it. people say Spence didn't look himself, but the reality is when you're in the ring with someone who has your number...and your credit card number...and your social security number...yeah you end up looking dazed, confused, and feeble in there.

    The problem with Spence is that he’s a master of his own style with seemingly little to no training in anything else. That got him this far in todays era of boxing because even though boxing as a science has evolved, training standards and prep has *devolved*. Most fighters prep the same way as Spence. That ain’t no good when going up against diverse fighters like Crawford. Spence’s trainer has to accept some massive responsibility here tonight. In the post-fight conference Spence even admitted his level wasn’t there Edit: Not to detract from Spence! He still beats 99% of fighters at his division

  • @richierich291266

    @richierich291266

    Interesting. Can you say a little more about how boxing as a science has managed to evolve when, at the same time, the quality of training has been devolving.

  • @IMold363

    @IMold363

    10 ай бұрын

    @@richierich291266 sure! Throughout history, boxing has evolved as a science, with fighters adopting new techniques, strategies, and training methods. We can see this evolution in the development of footwork, defensive techniques, and scientific analysis of opponents. However, in recent years in higher weight class divisions, the standard of boxing preparation and training seems to have devolved. Many modern fighters focus on power and aggression rather than mastering the finer aspects of the sport. Proper footwork, defensive maneuvers, and technical precision seem to take a backseat to sheer brute force. This shift in focus can be attributed to the increasing popularity of knockout highlight reels and the desire for instant gratification in today's fast-paced media-driven society. As a result, the true artistry and complexity of boxing are often overlooked in favor of flashy knockouts. On a similar note, in lighter weight classes, because fighters today know how damaging head trauma can be, many play it safe by over-emphasising training in risk-averse and more standardised boxing styles. This leaves fighters today with greater mastery of their own styles, but less variability and scale against more all-round fighters

    When Spence was in the amateurs he would go and go and go. The coaches said you have to stop him or he'll burn out. I had a fighter just like that. You have to tell him to go home. Spence is just hype. He is good but nothing is elite on him. Past his prime Brook with eye problems won 4-5 rounds against Spence. Ugas who is not a strong puncher rocked Spence. Spence has fought a grand total of two career 147 world champions his entire career (Brook and Porter) and he struggled badly against both. Every other champ he'd fought was a career 140 or blown up 135 Mikey who came up and most of them were complete featherfights or average punchers at best. He'd been hurt multiple times by light to average punchers, so much so he's had to spit out his mouthpiece

    He's a really linear fighter, and he's mostly fought stationary guys - he directs all his punches into a really narrow field in front of him, and his entire base is built to do that. But Crawford pulled him all around the ring, and devastated his footwork - by the third round, Spence was lunging to throw everything. The first and third knockdowns were so dramatic bc his weight was nowhere *near* balanced - especially the third one, when Bud cracked him in the ear, his torso wasnt over his feet and THEN he got rocked. I have no idea what they were doing in camp, but it sure seems like they werent watching tape, or trying to gameplan for Crawford at all. Spence was going into a movement fight, something he hasnt done hardly any of, against a guy with elite stamina and footwork, and they just...hit play on the same old tape.

    Errols defense is good he just was really sloppy offensively that he kept getting countered by big shots. Once he got hurt his legs were gone the rest of the fight you could see it in his body language. He started making more and more mistakes getting hit more and more lunging in reaching in loading up shots. His defense got progressively worse and worse as the fight went on to the point where he got caught with his hands down multiple times which is so unlike errol. What we saw was a combination of crawford at his best and a really sloppy errol spence. Thats why it was so one sided. Errols sloppiness just added to buds performance.

    @@showbizzthebodyguard5324hows it exuses he aint errol spence they aint paying him he just stating a fact that he never fought for so long not that it would make a difference spence is a pressure fighter they have limits only complete fighters like mayweather and crawford can be successful in any fight

    Tune or no tune up crawford would of still won. Ive been saying for year spence is not a good fighter fighting backward and his stance is somewhat clumsy when hes trying to back up when a boxer is swinging. Yeah he has skilled coming forward, but hes never fought an elite counter puncher. He fights good against fighters who also like to come forward. Spence never fought nothing close to crawford or on crawford level.

    Watching Bud last night was a religious experience. No other way to explain it. Crawford is the GOAT and an inspiration.
