EPIC DEBATE BETWEEN JAMES TONEY AND ANTONIO TARVER ON WHO WOULD'VE WON IF THEY FOUGHT
Спорт
"My chat with the legend James 'Lights Out' Toney @realjamestoney 🥊 we discuss our history and how a fight would’ve went if we ever stepped in the ring," wrote former world champion Antonio Tarver, who recently took to social media and posted a video of himself and fellow former world champion James Toney having a friendly debate about who would've won if the two of them fought. Check it out!

@@JorgeRojas-ut3wj naw i dont think so, you seen how toney lost to roy because of how unbelievably fast he was and kept the pressure on him, tarver would not fight like that, he would have got countered all night but i dont think he would get knocked out just a loss by decision. Toney was on a different level thats why he was undefeated for so long.
Man I enjoyed this video... two vets talking shit about the old days. Prime for prime, I think it would’ve been a good competitive fight. Tarver had the height, reach and power advantage. Toney certainly more skilled ... both had great chins. Pretty even match up if we’re honest. Toney’s best days were at 160-168 so he is the naturally smaller guy.

Toney was a beast. He could fight like hell in a phone booth. Tarver was more cerebral. Wait wait and bang.

Hello Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial. On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people. While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there. I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes but don't you just hate it when people can't let go of your past mistakes. I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life. Can we talk?

This video was classic as hell. Two of my favorite fighters chalking it up, smack talking and just having a good time. Tarver did make a great pint though, he handled common opponents better.
Lmao! James Toney got jokes! It would have been a great match up. I think Toney would have won.
Love these guys and their banter. So cool to see the obvious mutual respect and like how Tarver tees up Toney’s replies.
Two of the greats that I respect. Love to see the mutual respect they have for each other, and the playful banter between them. Warriors in the ring, brothers outside the ring #respeck
That was awesome, great selfie interview
Tarver lost to Roy Jones after he lost tons of pounds of muscle. If Roy didn't fight so quick and took his time getting the weight off we wouldn't be having this conversation. Tarver is not in the class of fighters as Roy Jones and James Toney. BHop dismantled him and pretty much ended his career. Again, not in the same class. Enjoy chillin with one of the greats and that cigar and chill.

Michael Blalock it's interesting when ya think about it Toney was "Drained" when he lost to Jones, Jones was "Drained" when he lost to Tarver and Tarver was "Drained" when he lost to Hopkins
@TheMichaelthevoice
6 жыл бұрын
Free Smoke TV not sure how Toney was drained because he was fighting at that weight already and Roy was moving up. Roy legit lost about 20lbs of MUSCLE coming down from heavy weight and he STILL won the fight against Tarver and got KO'd in the second fight. It demanded too much from the body and Roy needed his reflexes. Tarver was fighting at light heavy weight and BHop came up in weight and dogged him so I'm not sure how Tarver was drained. James and Roy had spectacular careers and BHop did too beating everyone. Tarver had a good career but not at the level these guys did.
@freesmoketv4187
6 жыл бұрын
Michael Blalock apparently Toney had to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time for his fight with Roy and Tarver put on heaps of size for his role in the rocky movie and had to drain it all off for his fight with Hopkins both Toney and Tarver wanted rematches for those fights and never got them
@deanthonyjones790

Well, what all of you are saying is some what true, except, Roy Jones jr. DID NOT!!! have to loose muscle to make weight, he fought John Ruiz at what he rehydrate at, Antonio Tarver body or frame is bigger than Roy's, When Tarver rematched Roy, what people who do NOT know boxing do not see is the genius of Antonio, the little adjustments, angles, countering punching, etc.
@freesmoketv4187
6 жыл бұрын
deanthony jones what do you mean what did he rehydrate at? Heavyweight is unlimited it's not like the smaller divisions Roy built up muscle to where he could fight vs a big man then had to cut back down to 175 and it obviously took a toll on his body
That was great!! Toney's in a different level, up there with the greatest boxers ever... under appreciated in my opinion 👊

Taver was a excellent boxer. But toney was on another level. Toney can sit in the pocket and not get touch insane. 1. Toney 2 Whitaker 3.Mayweather 4. Benitez 5. Marquez Top modern-day counter punchers.
That's beautiful to see great men reminisce with good energy!
This is an absolute treat for real boxing fans, this is some beautiful shit here!!!
I enjoyed this!
James Tony is one of the best ever. I think Roy Jones was the only fighter to ever knock him down and it was only a flash knockdown. If he’s not in the boxing hall of fame yet they need to get him in there ASAP.
