As if anyone is going to get paid to drive around looking for flying models that aren't broadcasting remote id? Because if you're not broadcasting, that's the only way anyone would even be able to tell. This has nothing to with safety, other than allowing commercial drones to fly in our traditional appraise. No one with any ill intent to their flight will ever broadcast their location and ID. Makes as much sense as them thinking any gun laws will ever stop criminals from using guns. Stupid from the ground up.

Don’t get me started on this BS. This is another unenforceable law. Local police, Sheriffs etc have no jurisdiction in enforcing the FAA directives. Government oversight on something that is not an issue.

This will come in handy when I flying at the lake cabin.

I just preordered the Sky ID with the hopes that it can be attached to my FPV drones. Down side is that if you don’t preorder the Sky ID it will cost 99$ which is more expensive than expected. Big down side is if you crash a lot like I do with my FPV drones this device might get destroyed and I would have to purchase another one.

11/07/2023 and still none of these RID modules shipped to buyers.😕

If you fly under Part 107 with multiple aircraft you need a separate unit for each aircraft you fly.

You could pay me $100 to get a RID module and I still will never use one. Hell no!

I ordered one last week when it first came out but they have no delivery date. I’m sure they will not be ready by the FAA date.

@@fastdude2002 I bought a Spektrum battery and will link them on an older drone (not my DJI) and it will fit in a little plastic box I bought on Amazon.

Maybe 'they' will have a combo deal for the tracking device for our airplanes and a booster shot for our arms. Come on guys this is a slowly boiling frogs scenario. I will not comply.

Under 249gr it's not needed, unless you are Part 107. If you are Part 107, then you'll need a separate one for all your toys. F THE FAA!

Yup I stay under250 grams. The more people pay the 200.00 the more the companies will make and the more they will be for it!

No doubt you'll get plenty of negative comments - - I know I'd be piling on - - ya do get that we're on the way to complete government agency regulation - - all under the guise of safety, which yes, I would agree will become even more important than it already is because our low level altitudes are going to become increasingly more crowded and valuable as more and more commercial uses come into every day usage. Some may think what I'm referring to is Amazon playing with drone deliveries and the like, it goes waaayyy beyond that and the corporations realize the growing value of our modelers airspace - - in the background of all of this regulation, though most don't yet except it, is money, bucks at stake, no wonder Uncle Sam needs and wants to get a handle on it, all of this will translate into the doling out of areas and routes for these not so far off future endeavors of these commercial entities and ya, they're going to be paying Uncle Sam for the rights to use that space - yes, there's an honest need for regulation and safety, but this stuff is being driven by the dollar, the foreseeable value of our low level airspace - - so for us as simple modelers, we've already gone from simple FAA registration, to taking a test and paying for the privilege to take it (and yeah, it's ridiculous and designed for everyone to pass), to currently paying for continued compliance for our FAA registration, but make not mistake, all that is creating that much needed DATA BASE for Uncle Sam to utilize, which of course that's the primary reason everyone or anyone can pass that test, we're all "signed up", perfect for the FAA and Uncle Sam. IMO, there's no fighting it although I think resistance is important, and yes, we're damned lucky to have the AMA push though the idea of FRIA's - all that is not to mention where we are right now, if you're running remote ID, do ya think it's just some traffic controller that can see where you are? Come on, someone with the wrong intent can see you too - so, as the saying goes, wake up and smell the coffee, our hobby is becoming another play thing for Uncle Sam - ya, just great.

Bluetooth is the wrong technology for this application.

Only problem I see with it. (Mines ordered) is you won’t get the telemetry from it in the tx if u use a satellite with it. It uses the same srlx2 bus to hat he sat it self does
