I have the black original Dx5 radio. I was not able to program it. Luckily I did buy it from a local hobby shop, called" Krazy Kevins". He looked at the radio and said the touch screen was defective and offered to send it back for repair. Because of COVID-19 it did take awhile for the radio to be repaired. I did get it repaired and it works good now. I was able to program my radio in about 5 minutes. Local hobby shops do take care of you if you problems with your purchase from them. Think about that when you buy something online.

Great video, thanks for sharing that. my experience, lol, I have a Spektrum DX5pro and love it. It has a wheel for scrolling. My friend bought the rugged with the original button, ask me to help set it up, I did not get the hang of it, I offered to buy him a new one because I wanted to throw it in the woods. I couldn't get it to do anything. HAHA Turns out, something was wrong with it and now has it back from them and works fine. Again thanks for the video.

Thanks a lot man. Yeah the revised setup works better not like a night and day but def an improvement for sure.

Got ran over by a truck lol! When I tried to return mine they fought me on it and told me the rubber falling off was for cleaning. It was never used! So it's funny to see they fixed it. The green looks cool! Good luck with it!

Can I have the dx5 rugged and dx6r on the same receiver. Also is it possible to load your rc car profile from dx5 to a new receiver or do I have to rebind the receiver to the new remote and and set all my trim and expo and so on

I am not sure. I am not very versed in radios. I do not think you can bind two radios to one receiver though.

Nice video. I tried out a Rugged but, the plastics felt too thin. That seems normal with Spektrum though. I've had others made from them. Even their high end radios feel mid-grade. I ended up selling it and went back to Futaba.

@@RCPropaganda I've been using Futaba radios and servos since the 90s. They've never let me down. I sold off all my Spektrum radios and receivers and went straight Futaba again. Futaba and Sanwa are the top tier transmitter companies with good reason. They've been in the game the longest.

@@RCPropaganda I just noticed that the rugged has the thumb drive. Dammit. So I ordered it and will return or sell the DX5C 🤣🙄

I just got a DX5Rugged, I cannot stand the touch screen. takes like 10 times to tap anything, scrolling is backwards. ( why can't I just tap the up and down arrows? why do I have to swipe ). 2022 I probably have the improved one and it still sucks. - Buttons would have been better than this nonsense. -

Yeah the screen def is not that great. I got the updated one and it's a little better as you get use to it.

@@RCPropaganda Radio seems nice, its too bad its so clunky to use ( even with the new version that I have ) I guess I'll just have to get used to it taking 20 minutes to setup a new model because its so slow to respond to touch. I would have rather them put hardware buttons and a wheel on it if they are not going to make the actual screen touch. Better than Traxxas radios though I guess lol.

Too expensive at $199 without a receiver.
