The birth of a legend
FFS man... With one video you sold me on: - getting into the hobby with 0 affinity to arts in my life so far (but I did draw extensive stickman-jedi-kung-fu fights in my youth) - Warhammer 40k - reservation of pre-order spot for Indomitus box (prices in Poland rumored to be quite nice) - Necrons - texture paints. All of that in my 30s. Father of two with like, 4 hours of free time per week. GW should send you a "Thank you for his money" note. I'll probably go for more clayish base color though, with warmer and colder violets to compliment. Need to see that first though. Also, great music.

✨The moment of birth for a legend, a first step on a long path to greatness.✨
I remember around 13 years ago when I was about 14 and I collected necron, and I would use chaos black and brush over with gun metal grey haha.. I think the paint names have changed now but this all brings back the memories lol
I've watched this video several times and I have to say: I really love the sandstone themed necrons. A brilliant and deceptively simple paint scheme that yields amazing results. Pretty sums up all the paint schemes on this channel.
Hey MidWinter. Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. Got into 40K during COVID and have been making a sandstone Necron army to help me get through lockdown. 40K really is getting me through this time and have you to thank for the army idea. You may never see this but just felt obligated to atleast let ya know that you helped me. Ty again

This is how I painted my necron army, with an undercoat of metal to look like it really just got dirty and sandy over time. Bronze for warriors, Gold for characters, Silver for Canopteks, and a spooky metallic Green for Crypteks. Love the tutorial and your whole channel!

Can't believe I haven't commented on this. What a fantastic tutorial. I painted my Indomitus necrons using this scheme and loved the look. I didn't want to play Necrons, so I sold them for some other army bits but I've recently really regretted it because I really love how the paint scheme looks on them. I recently printed a ton of Robot Legions from OnePageRules and they're getting the Sandstone treatment. It's just too good a look to not do. Thanks for all you do, Guy. I wouldn't be the painter I am today without your guidance.
Mind blowing how cool this looks
This video, together with the Necron battlerep got me back into Warhammer (40K) since about 25 years. Got myself an Exalted Scythes kill team starter and the paints for this recipe. Ready to start this journey once again. I love your videos and keep up the good work.

One of my favorite videos of yours and it made me get a pack of necrons which is my second army
Feel like I've been watching too many paint tutorials for intermediate levels. They're fun and interesting, but this seems like something at least feasible for my beginner skills. Very creative concept, I love it. Actually seems doable from your great explanation of the steps.

Thanks for letting me know, Jeo! Yeah, there's definitely something more satisfying about creating cool brush glow effects. A little bit more personal, maybe.
Absolutely love all your videos, and wanted to share a quick tip about fine detail painting. When holding the figure in one hand, rest your painting hand against your other hand (e.g. hold your hands against one another). This will steady your brush hand. I have seen this done in so many videos, but never once has someone actually pointed it out. I remember when I first started doing this how quickly my painting improved. Thank you, as always, for all your amazing content!

Well my plan was green and gold, our sporting colours. I'm worried I'll lose too much detail putting the stoney armour (it'll be 90% primaris) and so I should do stone for the pauldrons, but then I think that might look funny.
