Special Report: How The Chinese, Others Destroy Osun Community Illegally Mining Gold
Atorin-Ijesha in Atakumosa East of Osun state is one of the many local government areas in Nigeria where gold and other minerals are found in large quantities.
Over the years, foreign miners, especially the Chinese, have invaded the community, destroying farmlands, and polluting water bodies with mercury, and lead, thereby endangering the health of the people.

China owns nigeria just like the British. It is their right to do as they please in Nigeria.
Can you imagine if this happened in China by a Nigerian or an African? This is what happens when we elect leaders that are deride of sound ideas. By the time they finish disturbing the earth's stability our lands will become susceptible to earthquakes and all forms of disasters.

Exactly what they did to Ghana, and turn back to call Ghanaians food produces unhealthy, after saturating their lands with harmful chemicals, The officials see the golds as more important that food production or good health. African will always remain an exploited cattle to others except we wake up fast enough. People so bless and so poor in thinking. God save African

The Chinese didn't invade without collusion with the Nigerian government. Why do we think that the land must be destroyed for the mining? I weep for Nigeria.
Obi made a comment- non transactional government. Most of our leader are doing transactions for themselves at our peril with government work.
There is no way the Local, State and Federal Government Representatives and traditional rulers are not culpable. The citizens need to rise up and defend their resources.

My heart's bleed for Osun State and the similar condition in the DRC. Unbelievable.
There is no smoke without fire 🔥. Chinese didn't come on their own, some brought them.
Ask the former Governor Oyetola about it, if he wasn't aware of the shady deals. How can they be doing illegal mining in a state without the knowledge of Mr Governor. Sad, this is happening in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
There is no government again in Nigeria.
WE must NOT blame the Chinese and other foreigners that are operating the illegal mining of minerals and destruction of farmlands ( source of food crops for Nigerians ) ALL over Nigeria. WE ENABLED and ALLOWED it to happen because WE have SOLD our souls to BRIBERY (money given to us to DESTROY our farmlands). The local, state and federal government officials are aware of the destruction of farmlands all over Nigeria !!!! 😠😡😰😥😓😫😣

I'm actually embarrassed that TVC would caption this video like the Chinese is to blame. Inadvertently letting the international community know that Nigeria is open to just about anything. This illegal mining was empowered by corrupt government officials but nobody is calling them out. Shame! True journalism needs to be restored
Illegal mining is everywhere in Nigeria because it's big money. One of the main reason why crisis are everywhere in Nigeria today. We don't have a government that can harness our mineral resources for national development rather, individual greed has taken over the country.
One of the reasons we don't want Oyetola in Osun state. Those APC guys really destroyed this state
China is mining in Nigeria with the full knowledge of the Nigerian government.
Thank you guys for your insight. Having lived in USA for over three decades now. I am more alarmed that our country has all these things and we are chasing fools Gold here. How do we get involved???

O Africa this can happen only in Africa when are we going to be contended all people who squander public how do they end up may God help us
The Chinese approach in AFRICA Continent is the same approach in the Caribbean Islands especially Jamaica. The government collaborate with the Chinese are and dug up our bauxite resources and replaced with sands. Most Jamaicans farmers have no land to do farming.
I want CTV news to also try and visit Igun in Atakumansa West LGA and see how they have destroy the land with the same Gold mining without any good things coming to the villagers.
We re not paying attention to it because Our Leaders are self-centered on it. They only want their pocket filled didn't care about the other residents.
One of the condition for obtaining the Chinese loan.
Buhari borrowed money from the Chinese, this is one of the ways he pays the debt while getting richer and richer
These are the reason Bihari was busy traveling from country to country calling them to come and be mining illagaly and be given him his own shear have you ever heard him saying anything about the illegal minings going all over the country
Who are those collaborators? How will they make Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals to give accountability on any pressing issues every week on all media houses?
This is painful.
It's not the government, it's the people. If they people aggressively react such rubbish will not happen.
This is govt doing, they know about it and gave them the contract, the worse they do is that they do not develop the community with some of the resources, there shud be am agreement to give community a share of their resources to avoid conflict
It's not just about getting government involved, it's about evaluating the environmental damages vis-a-vis the benefits to the immediate communities and the entire nation at large as well as the better way of preventing further environmental damages in the localities.
Shame to Nigerian government

Thank you, guys, for bringing this evil to light. I can bet you with my life that someone in Aso Rock with the brain of chicken is behind this destruction. This is really ungoverned country.
Clueless, wicked and greedy poliTHiEVcians who lacks vision for the masses and they careless about Nigeria /Nigerians. How can we be in the midst of plenty resources and we are suffering and smiling? This is just the irony of life. It's so shameless and a pity!
Don't blame the government. Mention the name of the senator of the area and if he or she denies knowledge of the activities, then resign.
Same thing European did century ago and rubbed African with their machinery so now Chinese doing the same.
Am even crying 😢 😭
Why are we plagued with plethora of wicked, inhumane, selfish and unintelligent rulers in Nigeria? Why?
This TV broadcast will amount to nothing because the journalist went there on a jamboree without proper investigation he didn't approach the miners with police even if it was said they were driven away he would have gone back for reenforcment .
With time there will be no trees left in the area.
No one dares this in China, Nigeria is a shame
You can't do anything without the local population co-op
its gold that backs up the UK Currency, Africa has not invested in the right type of education for our people
Wat kind of stupid money are dey giving to Nigeria leader for dem to destroy ur life nd dat of ur unborn children, black people wat is really wrong with our brain 🧠
This is what igboho was talking about and was fighting for but you journalists called him none state actor that wanted to divide Nigeria. It can only be well with Nigeria unless we are ready to live by the truth .

BKO is on point on this issue of illegal mining
What we know is that, there's nothing that can be done in a country without the blessings of the government. Follow up to the government.
Request for that nation must be now now. Please, people of Osun and the Yorubas, research a small and a beautiful place, called, Golden City, Colorado and the famous, Central City. Enough to the illegal miners. Ibunkun nifun orilede Yoruba Nation
NASS to be petitioned
Theft in broad day light.
Its even a shame to drag Chineses into this, its our country and we have to take all the blames for allowing that to happen, bunch of greedy and hungry people smh
How much money does these political leaders need?
Is like we will be reacolonise again but this time it would be by China not! Yes anything can happen to Africa at anytime because we are too weak.
You called it invasion by Chinese? Who allowed them? How did they cross over inside the village? No Local govt counci?. l am ashamed to see this kind of thing in a country where there are graduates and youths, you cannot work free in their own country without residence permit but they go around free because the govt sold the country. This is one of the reason why they hold Nnamdi Kanu because he is trying to enlighten the people and free them from modern slavery.God bless MNK
The first thing is to flush them out of the place and plan very well.

TVC, this is poor journalism. Did your reporter talk to the Minister in-charge of Solid Minerals? No. Was any attempt made by you to confirm the immigration status of the Chinese men at the illegal mining site? No. Did TVC encourage another media house, for example, a newspaper, to do a follow-up on this documentary? No. Were the representatives of Atakumosa LGA at the National Assembly in Abuja contacted by your reporter for a deeper insight into the illegal mining activity? No. If TVC had done it’s job professionally, it would have helped to force the hands of the government to do something beneficial to our economy with regard to illegal mining in Nigeria.

Gold is damaging no matter what the equipment; it can even lead to drought. Our people need to learn from what they did to other countries
Some unscrupulous elements in will be in the know of this. Useless APC government who had been power for eight years without any outstanding achievement but pile of burdensome debt.
Can any Nigerian dare go to China and do what they're doing in Nigeria today? Is either you have people in position that they don't have any business being in? Or they have being paid to look the other way..
Whaaaaat? God have mercy. We are so rich, yet so poor.
The locals should take laws into their hands
Do they think the governor not taking his own share?
Where is everywhere there is minerals in nigeria the fulanis will be there? All the way from 500 kilometres away to come digging in other people's ancestral land.?
That's not an invasion, the corrupt official in the local, state and federal government is culpable..... The Chines are doing what legitimate for any exploitative company. . Some body or group of body must have mapped the location for the Chinese... What are the conditions attached for the mining.. nobody knows. Incompetence is the haullmarks of our official. Even they by-pass the local king... bring in a security carrying weapons
Some will come and say they are ijesha, 😂😂😂 who is ijesha than d Chinese who owns the gold in ijesha lands and this one is still asking foreigners to come and help them mine - they can never use their own engineers
Everyone is just saying Chinese,Hold the Governor and federal government responsible
The people of that community should rise up and protest this destruction of their land. The State and Federal govt are in cohort with these Chinese excavator companies. It's time to rise and say No to any excavation done in their land. These Gold excavations are supposed to be used by the state or federal government to develop their community and the state . The damage to their land or farmland is not even considered at all. Nobody in any country in the world, can go to China and excavate their natural resources in such a way that will destroy their land. Who born that person! But African leaders and some greedy community leaders and even Nigerians that work with these Chinese companies will sell their souls and conscience for peanuts because they love money more than their own fellow Nigerians and the well-being of their citizens and environment.
It always saddens my heart when people that are indigenous to this community lives in delapitated house, with no clean water, electricity, school and health facilities, thesame thing happening Niger delta, why can't we learn from Saudi Arabia? My point is why are we so poor when we're the richest country in the world in mineral resources, our land flows with milk and honey when we talk about natural resources.
Those blind people keep silent since then nonsense government
This is really sad we always have sell out.
This Chief is culpable, he can't claim he's not aware of what's going on nor can he be denied ever getting a share of the agreement
What were the traditional leaders doing when the Fulanis started the mining in "colonies"? They should have fought back then, no matter who is aware and involved. They gave them paltry sums and they kept quiet. The community is not even benefiting......this is another kind of slavery.
Was they no memorandum signed ???
Imagine the new governor of osun state is now struggling to get them to pay taxes 13% on your own land. Zero utility. Osun suppose to be small London. Gold worth $5b . Other resources are still there like cocoa etc. This same osun lacks airport
You are so blessed Africa but lean to make a deal, don't let others take your natural resources, what will you raise your own kids with.
Who signed d certificate of occupancy?
