It was a day to get ice treats.
They were placed in two places.
Momotaro and Gentaro monopolized first, then Genki and Kintaro later. There were fruits in the ice.

Momotaro & Genki Family
Father Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
Mother Genki ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
First son Gentaro, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son Kintaro ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

This zoo sucks... Japan thinks they are doing well though. Cramped animals and cramped apartments. Never going there.
Excellent job on behalf of the keepers for providing them with two separate ice treats, then placing them far away from each other. Everyone ate and best of all, no fighting.

Problem solving, (to get through the ice layer), keeping cool, getting yummy treats all in one package-That's great enrichment!

Fabulous ice treats!!! Thank you keepers! Brilliant Kinny finally tips it up on edge, lets it melt a little, comes back to pry off more, topped off by, of course, dessert from mom! Oh how Momo misses their family box. I‘m hoping for a new one around the heated floor for winter.

Nothing better on a hot day but to be given a square of ice,and they take their finger nails to scrap the ice away.They all enjoyed it,only kintaro picked it up:and dropped it,figured it would break in half:smart little boy to figure that out
That’s the longest I’ve seen Kintaro get with their ice treats lol. I’m glad they all got to enjoy the treat ♥️.

I've been waiting for a new box as well.
I wish they had them ice fruits in small pieces like ice cubes. That’s hard for them to try and eat. Thank you for the video❤️❤️

Love this video, Genki enjoys eating BUT will not fight with the food in order to eat it ... after trying for a while, she said "I'm good" and moved onto much easier food offerings.

She has no teeth and and a finger or two is missing ,, so I guess she would say iam good . Let the boys handle that block of ice with hardly no fruits in it . I guess the zookeeper's tought on a hot day it would be nice .,, It is !! No good if they can't do nothing with it tho . How about some frozen fruits . Not unless you are trying to get them to have more water because it might be a hot day . Don't understand a block of ice that they are not interested in . Except for the fruits in it . . Is it for them to play with or just to pick the fruits out of it . Which is like very little .wow !! Ok momo I get it . It not worth the trying to even breck it or bite into it . It just water mostly . Boring !!

@@joycecodrington4829 I'm aware of Genki's story and all things Momotaro family; they are my favorite Gorilla family. They've done frozen fruit before (especially on very hot days). I think the frozen ice treats are 3-fold: (1) nourishing during hot weather (2) foraging is their daily work and it causes them to share rather than 1 or 2 consuming all (as they got enough or became tired or both they moved on and another came forward) (3) causes them to use various skills and thought processes ... remember their DNA is 98.6 human.

I hope their box Is not ready because it's being built bigger and better Even if it's the same, PLEASE get it back for them. It's kinda like their living room couch! Momo misses it the most it seems. It was simple to build so please my friendly zoo team. Go Kyoto !

They get ice cakes on Birthdays alot . So this troop is used to these ice cakes . If they are not loaded with fruits and veggies , they are not going to be too interested . I don't blame them . They are worth more fruits in that block of ice the water diluite the sugar so it's ok for them to have more fruits that way. I would think so .

Momotoro and his troop (family) are all Gorrilas Momotoro is the leader and is a Silverback Gorrilla as you can see when looking at him . Chimps that I know of don't have Silverbacks , not that big. Not that Strong . As Gorrilas 👍 . Ect ,ect . Keep looking at this channel and you should find it very informative , interesting , and funny at times. Peace and love 🤗😍🌹

Listen guys... I wrote this above answering the Gorilla man who wrote in captions about the other animals get these ice treats too . Gorilla man then said Chimps wait for the ice to melt,their smart. I God well know these above are a Gorilla family. You silly Wombats 🤪😜

This zoo though...they give mainly carrot tops(that we discard) and fruity ice treats with barely any fruit to gorillas which are main attractions. Imagine how they treat their other animals. Check out how amazing my Bronx zoo animals are treated in New York. Japan needs to step up...their status is low. Embarrasing

Why the ice treats in the first place ? Why not just the fresh fruit. This must be so frustrating for them. Please let me know if there is some interesting reason.
