So if I get a low score on the WISC and a gifted score on the RAPM set 2, that means that my general intelligence is high and that the WISC is only limited to specific factors of intelligence that I'm not good at as of now? This means that the one factor/g factor is the only way to know your general intelligence while the WISC/WAIS will see if your general intelligence exhibits itself through those subtests? Or am I wrong?
@realPidge
3 жыл бұрын
I know I'm just a random person on the internet but.... IQ/FSIQ is some talents that exhibit themselves well (apropos the g-factor) that we know of as of now. Tests that are currently acclaimed for FSIQ are WAIS and Stanford Binet. The test for g-factor that continues to develop and gather heavy scientific validity and reliability that we still use is the Raven's Progressive Matrices. It seems that its possible to have low g but to be highly specialized in one or more specific subtests/talents (quantitative, verbal, memory, processing) and vice versa (lacks some ability but has general intelligence). Every credible theory is based off of Spearman's g-factor theory. And this is what makes FSIQ annoying and its odd how no one understands. Someone who has a low FSIQ but high g-factor simply has some learning curves to go through/learning differences. They are not stupid. And if you have low g that doesn't mean you lack intelligence it's just you're more likely specialized towards some ability and some abilities are more valued in our society. And education fails people with high g but low ability. Perhaps someone is better at a very specific talent and is around average for everything else (chess GM Hikaru is a good example, he scored 102 for the Raven's test he took online during a livestream that has been taken down for obvious reasons and NO one would call him average because he is highly specialized in chess/memory, quantitative, and processing speed)... This is where multiple intelligences may come into play if done appropriately. Someone with average g can still be a genius in a very specific area. Someone with high g can also lack basic abilities (for example autistic people, people with learning differences, and perhaps Einstein is also a great example). This area of psychology will continue to develop and hopefully our general understanding of intelligence will as well. We need to keep an open mind. We can capture what intelligence is through these tests but there's perhaps more to intelligence than what we currently have. It's best not to take everything at face value. Is this a good understanding/approach to understanding this area of psychology? I'm new to this stuff I'm hoping to have a good understanding 😅.

WAIS are comprehensive as it measure your verbal and performance IQ They are standardised But raven tests are nonverbal and measure your reasoning ability or your fluid intelligence so your gifted score on raven means you are high on general intelligence So u r right
