Author of ten mysteries in the "V.I. Warshawski" series of mystery books, including TOTAL RECALL. Among the others in the series are INDEMNITY ONLY, BLOOD SHOT (winner of British Crime Writers Association "Silver Dagger Award"), GUARDIAN ANGEL, TUNNEL VISION and HARD TIME; and she also wrote a non-series book GHOST COUNTRY. She was named "Woman of the Year" in 1987 by Ms. Magazine, and founded Sisters in Crime which promotes women mystery writers.
