    i don't know if it's just me, but antonio seems to be more excited and explained alot more when he covers older games, especially Tal ones. i love antonio's videos but i miss videos like this when he will tell you intricate stories whether it's about when was the first time the players play eachother, or how they met each other or what the player was thinking when he plays this weird moves that aren't recomended by the engine, or what the player's favourite food, literally every single detail that makes a single chess game seems like a journey. that's just what makes him different, and much more enjoyable than most ches youtubers out there.

    In his defence, I'd say he has had more time to prepare and read up about the older games, plus he has the benefit of hindsight....With Antonio now knocking out games the same day they're played (an effect of his fantastic channel), he has very little time to go into the backstory or other lines on games.

  • @Noelito40

    @Noelito40

    3 жыл бұрын

    That's his skill, he has a wonderful way of "storyifing" the games. That's why I like his channel, the game is the story, not him. I tried watching some other chess channels, but there's too much ego in the presenters. It is Antonio's relative weakness at chess that makes his delivery and channel so good, he doesn't make it about him, he doesn't criticise the moves or say what he would have done in the situation.

    Years ago, I played them both in two separate simuls in NY. I of course lost both games. Spassky was a total comedian throughout all his games. He politely had fun, & let you have fun, while crushing you. Tal was more like a machine, also destroying everyone. I remember the line....When Tal sacrifices a piece, stick around. He'll soon sacrifice another one. When Spassky sacrifices a piece, Resign!

    i think Tal was inviting Spassky to play B-C6 and fork the queen and rook, after exchanging the white queen for the Bishop, then exchange the rooks at f6, Tal can advance the pawn to queening, then Spassky has to sacrifice the black queen and we end in Rook vs Bishop game. but Spassky moved his queen to e5 and didn't fall for Tal's trap

  • @wunknownbeatbox7980

    @wunknownbeatbox7980

    3 жыл бұрын

    I came to a similar conclusion, but what you said doesn't work I believe because black doesn't have to sac back the queen. The bishop on f6 covers the queening square. If Bc6 you can play Rxf7 and blacks queen is overworked and can't defend the bishop after recapturing the rook

    you can take the black rook with your rook, its check and the king wont be able to take, if the white queen takes it then the bishop is undefended.

    Agad thank you for this very nice video!Just a little thing,Boris Spassky was 17 as the game was played in August 1954 and he is born on 30 January 1937,and also Tal was 17 as he is(legends never die) born on 9 November 1936. These great titans of chess showed the world their talents from such a young age...,very impressive!

    At 12:03 Rb7 is a trick to win black's light square bishop. If black were to play Bc6 with a double attack on the rook and the queen, white plays rook takes rook with check. Once the queen recaptures the rook on f7, white simply grabs the unguarded bishop on c6. Feel free to add further explanations or correct me if I'm wrong.

    12:30 Maybe when Tal played Rb7 he was trying to bait Bc6 forking the queen and rook and then you play Rxf7+ and now if queen captures you pick up the bishop? (Seems way too simple though but you never know maybe they were low on time)

  • @krashsystem9560

    @Agadmator...At 12:05 when Tal played 1.Rb7 , I think he might be considering Spassky will get tricked while looking for tactics with 1..Bc6 pinning queen and rook.Here Tal might've been looking for 2.Rxf7+ Qxf7 3.Qxc6 causing white to gain a winning advantage.

    I think Tal played Rb7 @12:34 with the idea of playing Kf1 and getting his King into the game along the lightsquares. That's the only reason I can think he'd play Rb7 there. It stops Spassky's Bishop from coming to b5 that way, maybe it's also just meant to help push the b pawn, since you can move the Rook on d1 later to b1 for additional support

    12:35 in my opinion, Rb7 was probably protecting the b5 square in advance, since if the rook stayed on c7, the pawn cannot be pushed to b5 in the future since you just lose it to Bxb5, guarded by the queen, and the queen also guards the rook on f7 so Qxf7 with white would not work anymore. Rb7 also prevents black from playing Bb5, blocking the pawn if it was ever going to get pushed to b4.
