Ah, Spartanburg, or as some call it "The Burg". I moved from here to Colorado 10 years ago and I love to come back to visit like I did a few weeks ago. But can't say I'd ever live there again. With that being said, I love it with all my heart.

The Morgan Square area shown in the latter part of the video has several bars and restaurants and is usually more active in the evenings. Spartanburg’s main retail district is on the west side of the city just off of I-26, Westgate Mall and the surrounding area.

Where are the people? Are they on curfew? A friend said I wouldn’t like the quietness there. She’s right.

Pretty, but seemed abandoned almost like a ghost town. Cars were parked but didn’t notice anyone walking around

It was probably a weekday; people were at work. On the weekends it is pretty crowded around the square because there some good eateries around it.

I lived here five years

37,000 is a misleading city population number because SC has strict annexation laws. The metro population is about 197,000. Spartanburg County has a population of about 328,000.

Spartanburg county sc had way more than that it is at 353,000 today in 2024 and the city is around 40k today as well

I was born and raised in Spartanburg, have lived here for most of my life and think I know the city pretty well. Like. all cities there are certain areas to avoid especially at night but generally speaking Spartanburg is safe. I live in an older neighborhood I’m the city and the crime rate in my area is quite low.

There are actually 7 colleges in the immediate Spartanburg area. The statue in Morgan Square is of General Daniel Morgan who led the American forces in the Battle of Cowpens during the Revolutionary War. You passed a plaque, part of the Spartanburg Music Trail for William Walker. He was a minister/ musician who lived in Spartanburg in the 1800’s who set the words to the music of Amazing Grace as we know it today. He did not actually write the words or the music of it.

The 7 colleges in Spartanburg are Wofford College, Converse University, USC Upstate, Spartanburg Methodist College, Spartanburg Community College, Sherman College of Chiropractic and VCOM (Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine).

Does Adam still live there ?

Wofford is a division 1 school (fcs) it’s a public college !

Yeah sorry about that. It was on a Sunday morning, so I reckon everyone was at church. Maybe one day I'll do a part 2 of it. I definitely plan on getting Greenville, Clemson, and Anderson at some point in the near future. Thank you for watching!

Spartanburg has atleast 70,000 people inside the city! That’s including the residents n college students! Spartanburg has its bad n good! It’s getting real crowded! The metro area as a whole has about 400k I think , I may be wrong

@@A.I.M7772 bro yes we do 😂 the stats don’t count the college students as residents but they technically live here , we have 3 big colleges within city limits, those colleges have well over 20k people attending all together, Our metro is atleast 350k or more , Spartanburg is way bigger than you think , also Greenville has more people than us yes but land wise we are bigger

Sptbg not a walking city. Few things downtown but like any city, people are afraid to go out late nights. Before you move anywhere do your due diligence. Check crime rates, salary levels, employment opportunities. Many people move here and then move back home.

Lol yes people live there. When I did this video..it was relatively early in the morning, maybe around 10am. On a Sunday, so I think most of the residents were either still sleeping, or at church.

I live in the city of Spartanburg and I don’t think most people In the city are afraid to walk outside because of crime but they would avoid certain areas. The crime rate in my neighborhood is rather low. I go alone at night to grocery stores, Wal-Mart, the mall, Morgan Square, etc and have never had a problem. A gunshot detection system is soon going to installed in the city. The city police recently held a gun buyback and 164 guns were turned in.
