How often do you need to change the spark plugs?

I have the same unit and I'm getting an error code after riding for 5 - 10 mins. I start losing power and cannot accelerate and the bike goes into limp home mode. I'm getting an error code of P0261 which references Cylinder 1 injector open circuit or shorted to ground. Any idea what this could be?
