I did all my 18 grease fittings on my 2022 outlander max xt 650 without having to remove any front end parts just a little finesse had to be done but great video thanks

Yeah I think from 2012 forward is considered Generation 2. Hopefully you can find one for your Gen1.

Nice tutorial. Be careful when you pull the grease connector. I ended up breaking a fitting from tugging. They sell a quick lube coupler that works better for these things

Yeah I just greased my Outlander again yesterday. The grease end really locks in place which I like, but it can be a pain to get it back off at times. I'll have to add the quick lube coupler to my set. 👍

Im a diesel mechanic and work on tractors and heavy equipment all the time, I bought a 2021 650 Outlander, I paid a small fortune as in Aussie they are very expensive but it only had 2700 kms and looked and rode like new. I decided to do a full service including replacing the drive belt, well well well fu%k me I have worked on many tight engines but never one that requires just about a full strip down of all the plastic panels and under guard sheets just so you can get to drain plugs and grease nipples, the whole job took me a full day and than some, I now know 3 things. 1 why dealers charge $890 for a 50 hour service 2 why one of the biggest dealers continually get a bad wrap for missing shit and lastly why most people I spoke to advised on a Suzuki Yamaha or Honda all of which are way cheaper to buy and super easy to service, my Outlander is used for farm work I really didn't need a thoroughbred and cant see myself spending a day after every 50-60 hours (less drive belt) I clock up that amount of hours in 2-3 weeks. So two options, remove and leave off half the plastic panels or a nice wash and detail as i move her on to another home, very dissapointed to say the least, my old Honda TRX 420 with regular oil changes lasted well into the high teen km's, so 10 grease points on the front? Strip down again tomorrow to locate the 4 I must have missed cause I only greased 6 🤔 darn overpriced poorly designed bucket of 💩

I love my machine but I definitely am not a fan of the maintenance as you just pointed out. I don't think any Outlander owner is and is probably one of the top complaints always brought up when speaking with other owner riders.

I don’t know what prices are like near you but when I was looking this year at finally buying a brand new atv, the prices were honestly very similar between Honda, Yamaha, Polaris and Can-Am. I wasn’t really going to be saving any money and for one thing on the Honda was the accessories seemed to cost a bit more compared to Can-Am like the winch, plow, racks etc. and came out to very similar cost once outfitted. I ended up getting the outlander in the end mainly because I wanted the extra power and speed. I was in fact looking at Hondas first and the one thing that concerned me was not being able to keep up with friends who do have faster machines. I honestly think the extra maintenance is worth it for the performance gains. The only downside is the warranty, Honda and Yamaha come with a much longer factory warranty which is nice and if I buy a 2nd machine will definitely be one of them even though my outlander has been totally perfect as of thus far.

@@jeremycassell7627 prices are horrible, service cost and parts are crazy, I opted for a K&N 152 oil filter and Nulon full synthetic 5W/30 the gearbox and diffs I also went with Nulon full synthetic I refuse to service this bucket of 💩 every 50 hours, I do it now every 100, new outlander 650 is $26k AUD a good second hand 2019 is around $17k AUD, way overpriced in my books Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki are way cheaper and as said before easier to maintain, but I'm not racing so that could be a whole new discussion, I'm just a shit old farmer

Most detailed video concerning the can am greasing topic so far. One question to you can am guys: Does the "main bearing", which connects the whole rear axle to the frame need to be greased as well? It is kinda weird as it is the same kind of metal bushing but there are no zerks on it (at least not on my 2021 outty 1000 xmr). Greetings from southern Germany (Bavaria)

Thanks for the compliment and your support! 👍🏽💯 As far as greasing the main bearing, I don't believe so but I could check again. I followed the Can Am owner's manual and these were the only fittings it mentioned.

Thanks for the super quick reply. Awesome! Tried to figure out something in the manual, but also found nothing. Maybe it is really a maintenance-free bearing (Teflon insert maybe?). I think I might spray some PTFE grease into next time. Just don't want to miss something there.

Very good tutorial. I have second what someone else said in the comments about being careful with the grease zirks. They snap off easily.

@@dsmtsi I haven't gotten around to recording it yet. But if you search AORRZER Grease Gun Coupler on AMZN that is what I purchased for about $17. There's plenty other options to choose from as well searching quick lube grease coupler.

Yeah in most of my videos I try and remove plastics that interfere to show good angles on video even though you don't need to remove them most of the time. Not sure about the front sway bars. This is my first Outlander.

Where do you get those pliers from? Thank you for the nice instructional video. It's smart and less expensive to do it yourself.

I've had a reliable engine to date (186 hours/1840 miles). I've been following maintenance according to the manufacturer's manual for the most part. I ride in high gear 99% of the time, occasionally kick it in to 4x4 mode. About every 3 months or so I clean my air filter and reapply the oil to the foam sleeve and also grease the zerk fittings. My Outty has been good to me so far like I said but I don't drive too hard if you've seen my other videos. 😅 Hope this helps and good luck with your Outlander or Renegade. 💯

Stupid question but I’m new to this stuff. When I greased them, it’s start oozing out the same way I’m pumping. Nothing comes out of any other area. Am I not connecting it properly?

No such thing as stupid questions, we've all been there. My gut instinct is telling me maybe the zerk is clogged or the grease inside is older maybe drying. Try taking a heat gun to the grease point to soften the grease inside a bit. Then connect the coupler again and give it a few squeezes and see if that helps. Other than that I would say the coupler isn't making a proper connection. Or the coupler end is damaged causing a leak when under pressure. Let me know if this helps. 👍

Yeah some couplers work differently. I'd recommend a quick release grease coupler. Makes the job wayyyyy easier. 👍🏽💯

First off, thanks for the awesome video! Second, I just tried this on my 2022. Left side I eventually was able to get to everything without taking the fender off although upper frontmost fitting, I had to attach by feel. Right side I just couldn't reach the back upper fitting despite not having any problem on the other side I got fed up just took the whole fender off. As if that isn't bad enough, whose idea was it to put two of the pins right behind the shock. Can am must be a bunch of sadists.

Never had it happen to me. But apply minimal heat to the zerk fitting with a heat gun and that should help unclog the zerk.

Prior to the video I would ride down at the river bottom often and would never grease afterwards. I'm assuming the grease washed out during all those times. But after I learned more about maintenance and service, I learned it's best to grease the ATV every time after going into water.

And this is the reason to never buy a used outlander !!!!! ....95% of the owners might do this once then say screw that ...or to not buy one period !!!!...add to that doing a fluid change is a nightmare, not so bad on the Renegade but jeez for all the people proclaiming Can am God like status this is not acceptable 😒
