Beautiful church in Burgos, very ornate. I was surprised they didn't ask Allison to cover her shoulders. Carlos was telling you that the weekly market was going on, so you could go and get food. Love menu del día in Spain. They usually have good deals.

Hey Kat, I didn't even think about it until after we were in. We were both wearing shorts too. We asked Carlos if they had food at the market and he said No, it's a market where you buy things. Lol There wasn't any food ready to eat at the market, but Carlo's recommendation for Bar (Restaurante) la Cueva was definitely a top shout. Menu del Día is often the best way to get a good meal, but we didn't realise there would be SO much food. 🤣💜🤟

another great exploration you have taken us on😍😍🥰🥰 It never ceases to amaze me how much detail is put into the carvings within and on these buildings - even 30' u in the air, when no one in the day would have really been able to see it well - Brings to mind that old saying " If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well"!! We are now in the Costa del Sol, Calahonda, and hope to do some exploring of our own during the next 5 weeks.

Hey guys, just catching up now, its been a bit hectic with driving across Europe etc! Quite funny to see you in a place with loads of people, that's not the norm 😂 That cathedral in Burgos though...absolutely spectacular. We don't do churches like the Spanish! God bless Carlos...mostly for suggesting (I think?) that restaurant with the menu of the day...what an absolute bargain 😍 Loved that last village, a shame you cant swim in that crystal clear water but totally understandable if it's drinking water. Much love to you both ❤🤟🤗

Yes, being in the place with lots of people didn't last long. 🤣 It seems that nobody does churches like the Spanish. Everything else we've seen has been completely different and now that we're in Portugal, it's changed again, even though Portugal was once Spain. 🤯 Orbaneja del Castillo was a definite favourite with us. We'll just have to find pools to swim in elsewhere. As for Carlos, one in a million. The restaurant recommendation was spot on and his welcome was second to none. We wanted to adopt him. Such a sweetie. 😍🥰 Hope you had a blast watching Eurovision in Malmo last night. So glad that all was calm. We watched it live on KZread, from our seafront park-up. Back to normality with an Aire tomorrow methinks. 🫤 Safe travels and much love 💜🤟

@@findingxanadulife I'm sure you'll find plenty of pools to swim in while you're there, though I expect the more hilly/mountainous ones will be more...challenging 🥶 Glad you both managed to watch Eurovision! We've had a great time this week...however, we decided to watch the final back in the van on the campsite after all that 🤣 We'd had a long day, walked 11 miles, and just had a feeling it might be easier to be out of the way. I'm so glad we did. Obviously, if we had final tickets we would've gone but we are just happy we saw a semi. Next year I think we plan to save and go to the final itself. Except it's in Switzerland so that'll be a lot of saving 🤣 Did you enjoy the show? Portugal was my (Dan's) favourite, and we both liked Ireland. The winner was great and happy with that, though it was a bit everything and the kitchen sink!

@comealongdear Switzerland is expensive enough without Eurovision. I can't believe that they now charge you to vote. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I (Alison) loved the Israel song. It's something I would happily listen too in daily life, but I expect a certain level of cheese balls for my Eurovision winner. Croatia was stupidly catchy as was the Spanish entry. I got both of them stuck in my head. The winner was too high for me to screech along too although Darren thought it was very well written. I think Darren's favourite was Norway. I think my favourite was Italy. We hope to go and participate at some point, but who knows where. We'll eagerly await your Swiss footage..😬💜🤟

We thought it would be a great place to visit in summer and swim in the pools, but it's not allowed as the water is used for drinking. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm sure we'll go back again anyway and certainly to Villadiego. Btw why is it "Parador" hotels move into so many stunning buildings..?!? Lerma included. 🤔 You won't be disappointed by the waterfalls, that's for sure. There is also a cave in the village that has water and is meant to be very pretty, but we arrived just as it closed. Typical us really. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Here's the Google maps pin for the restaurant. maps.app.goo.gl/qPJfJNg8Ue2uXcJB7 Safe trip back to the UK and if you park up in Villadiego, tell Carlos that the English from FindingXANADU send their love. 😍💜🤟

Hey CJ, The sun didn't last much longer. Currently we've had almost 3 weeks of rain, but hopefully today should be the last day. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Last summer we chatted to a couple on our walks and then had them message afterwards to say that they had realised that they had watched one of our videos before. Also, just after we had bought Perse, we had a couple speak to us in Potries, or home village. They explained that they were subscribers and had come to Potries to look for a home, based on what they had seen in our videos. Lastly, we just met a couple on the road, who we struck up a friendship with and when they went to look at the channel, they realised that they were already subscribed. It is sometimes a very small world. Much love Alison and Darren 💜 🤟

You two seem like nice people, but your banter and dress in the cathedral caused me to cringe a little. Cursing and talking about "the side thingy"? It's called a chapel. Again, I feel bad about being critical. Raised Catholic by a stern Irish mother, maybe that makes me a bit of a stick in the mud.

  • @findingxanadulife

Good morning.. Alison here. Neither Darren or myself were raised in a particularly religious environment, but as Church of England churches don't mind bare shoulders and knees, it never occurred to us that our dress code could be a problem to some people or in some countries and thus far when paying our entry fee for religious buildings of all sizes, nobody has ever mentioned our clothes. In our defense we'd had to walk for almost an hour in 30°c heat, so we had dressed to stay cool on that day. With hindsight, I wished I had taken a jacket as the inside of the cathedral was really cold. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess as they open the buildings to tourists they accept that people may not always be dressed as they would for a service. If a church service is in progress, we wouldn't enter out of respect and we do always whisper when we talk inside churches as other people are often praying and we don't wish to disturb them, even though most of the time it is just us and other tourists taking photographs. We are learning better phraseology for the various parts of the churches too. With all that said we hope we apologise profusely if we have offended you. It was not our intention, or our wish. Many thanks for your comment. Much love Alison and Darren 💜🤟
