Thomas Edison and a few others helped them be immortal through recordings...
@grtjrg
Жыл бұрын
@@jeantours9641 , I get your point, but according to popular belief, Edison was the inventor of the first devices capable of recording the human voice. However, and as has happened with other historical figures, the true creator of this invention has been "silenced", in all aspects, until recently: Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville, creator of what he called "Fonautograph" (1857). The Edison recording (1877) belongs to the oldest known extant aluminum foil recording, although, as we can see, it is not the oldest recording itself. We hope that, from now on, the name of Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville will be better known and can go down in history as one of the great inventors of all time, honor who deserves it.

I remember traveling in a snow storm from Ann Arbor to East Lansing, Michigan to see Return To Forever perform at the Silver Dollar Saloon off the campus of Michigan State University. Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola, and Lenny White were all within a few feet of the audience. RTF put on a spectacular show that night. Rest In Power - Chick Corea

Fred Armisen KILLING IT on YAZZ FLUTE!
Saddest day in Jazz since the Passing of Miles Davis 30 yrs ago & nothing on my local News in Socal! Ladies & Gentlemen a round of applause incomparable & brilliant Armando Anthony "Chick Corea" This song was release in Jan 1973
He had come around 2009-2010 to San Antonio to perform for us. The flamenca did a top solo that was one of the most incredible things that I had ever seen in my life. I will be honest I had zero respect for The Art of Dance up until that moment. That woman is amazing
i like how the flutist got out of the way to show off completely the drummer. :) respect
So sad he’s gone. He was really someone. If the only thing he had ever given the world was “Spain” it would have been more than enough. We’ll miss you, Chick. Rest in eternal peace.
The best version if you ask me, so much passion, dynamics, pure musicianship and excellence!

Such a mesmerising performance - the brilliant song ‘Spain’ performed by brilliant musicians to a Spanish audience. Amazing!

How sad, the most inventive of all jazzers. Thank you for your inspiration Chick!
First saw Chick with the Elektric band in 1990 at Humboldt St. University and was astonished. Thankfully, got to see Chick again in 2017 with Bela Fleck in Hollywood, Ca. I feel lucky.
Man , I thank Roger Dawson from the old WRVR Sunday Salsa 💃 show here in NYC . I remember he played Spain and I lost my mind . Damn what’s this . That Monday I went to J&R music world and got the vinyl. Been a fan of Chicks , since the age of 12 . His music is timeless.
At one point it sounded as if Chick and the flautist were completing each other's phrases perfectly. Masterful musicianship.

un miracle dont on ne se lasse pas !
RNP Mr. Corea was indeed one of the greatest musician who played keys. we will miss your music and you. You were such a joy to listen to and watch, such grace.
It was the early 70's - and my older brother turned me on to "Light As A Feather". I have been a Chick Corea fan ever since. Fusion jazz, big band jazz, his "My Spanish Heart" album....he was always great no matter what style he chose. Gone too soon.
Chick Corea was driving/orchestrating the whole thing. Awesome.

What's most Amazing & fascinating aspect about the Man is he could play brilliantly from one end of the Spectrum to the other, This to Romantic Warriors Medieval Overture, A light that burns twice as bright burns half as long & Chick burned so very brightly,

Proably one of the Greatest contemporary Jazz piece ever written and it will be performed by musicians all over the world ( as it is now ) for millineums. What better way to perform this piece in no other place than Barcelona Spain along with native musicians and flamenco dancers.

Seen 100 times this video. Master of the masters of contemporary jazz. Corea and all the combo exceed all terrenal expectatives of jazz playing. Incredible song. Incredible rendition. Incredible theater (Palau de la Musica, Barcelona, Spain). Incredible HiFi recording. Incredible sound on a HiFi set. Miguel Angel, on bass is my hero, Carles Benavent - from Paco de Lucia's band. When I first heard him, back in 1982, on Chick Corea's "Touchstone" album, within his first 3 notes he COMMANDED my EAR! I ALWAYS Immediately recognize his VOICE on the bass whenever I don't already know that he is on bass on a recording that is new to me - just like whenever I also hear Anthony Jackson on a record!

I wished I could play Piano like THAT. What a Masterfully, creative Musician he was. This song with Al Jareaux (I spelled that wrong I'm sure) singing lyrics was my Virgin introduction to Chick Corea. And I've been entaptured ever since. Boy he is missed. Descansa en paz Maestro Chick Corea. 💖

Absolute, unabashed virtuosity - and so much fun to watch and hear!!!! Rest in peace, Armando "Chick" Corea!!!!
Rest In Peace Master 🙏🏼
I had the very very great pleasure and privilege of going to see Chick a few years ago when he visited Chile. I saw him and his band perform this masterpiece. It is a joyous memory I will carry with me untill my last. This was a birthday gift to me from my beloved daughter. So special.
Look at this beautiful place! He must have been inspired by such places! What a joy to play is such surroundings! Blessings to him and to the world from him!

I was listening to Santana music and in the process was directed to Chick Corea. I am saddened to learn of his passing in February of this year. My Chick Corea musical journey began as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It only took one Retutn To Forever album for me to become a life long fan.
Джаз - это жизнь, спасибо за прекрасное исполнение. Живи в музыке. Восхищаюсь.

For the Spectacle honoring 50 Years of Jazz at MIT in 2013 Chick performed the incredible piece he had commissioned for us. It honored our then deceased leader and jazz trumpet impresario with whom Chick had a incredible relationship, Herb Pomeroy. I was honored to be lead trumpet for this incredible world premiere. Chick's improvable death was a heart rending loss.
