@@cindysue5474 Yes the Saturn 5 is big, my brother and I built the kit. But this shuttle far outshines the Saturn 5 as far as realism goes, this is VERY similiar in motion and actions to an actual shuttle launch.

And yet after all that they still land it in the grass... wheels up... When one can bring back an RC orbiter, after a launch, put it down on an RC hard surface runway, and on wheels and then deploy a little drag chute, then I'll be impressed.

Tell me about it that was very realistic, I loved it. I thought it would go to shoot off like a like the model rockets do. But that thing took off nice and slow reached a certain altitude and even released on...... Don't know what they're called so I'll just call him boosters to get the rocket off the ground. That's pretty much what's used. And then the big booster is to get the shuttle the rest of the way up into orbit.

@@DavidWilliams-mo6dj The white rockets are SRBs, short for Solid Rocket Boosters, while the orange stage is the ET, or external tank. Unlike the SRBs, which get the shuttle up to a certain speed, the ET is literally a massive fuel tank meant to keep the orbiter fueled for the majority of its ascent. Fun fact, it actually feeds the engines a different fuel than what the orbiter actually stores in its internal fuel reserves.

I got suspended from school and a good ole ass beating from dad because we spent a lot of money on the kit.. no one thought it was funny also. The principal asked why I put the m80 in it and I replied I wanted it look realistic!

Actually, there's nothing slow about real rockets. They just look slow because of their size. The Saturn V, for instance, hit 125 in 5 seconds, 250 in 10 seconds and 750 in 30 seconds. But you're right that this launch looked more realistic because the scale speed of most hobby rockets is way faster than large-scale rockets.

I buildt rockets myself when I was 14, some of them flew up more than 100 Meters. The (slow!) start of this Space Shuttle is the most demanding challenge - any tiny little disharmony in the Shuttle's rockets, and the whole thing will go anywhere. It is really nice to see it working, in fact the slow beginning is a miracle. Next time you fly you may land a little bit closer, so we can see the Shuttle in larger scale. Thank you for such highlight!

My respects gentlemen !! I have been following the history of aeronautics and astronautics for years in studies from the Mercury and Apollo projects, and then the shuttle launches and studies of its complex engineering, I congratulate you for this fantastic job, good pilot and good flight engineer, the model and even the scale of the times of the SRB and ET, superb !! I hope to know more about your work, friends, keep going and better...Maybe late but I like to give my humble congratulations to young people for their efforts.

I used to launch model rockets back in late 60’s - early 70’s and have seen a pile of them but when I watched this the first time I thought it was playing in slo-mo. These rockets usually reaching their apex after 10 seconds or so. I wish all of them would be so realistic. Great job! And yes...dump the music.
