    Once back in 2009 I was flying back to Camp Zama Japan while on active duty. I flew space a back then a lot. Anyways the one experience that stuck out the most was while in Guam trying to get to Yokota Japan, my 3 dependents and myself were near the in this end of this whole space a process. We were literally on the tarmac. I remember looking up at the pilot and getting informed we were bumped. If you are onboard and in the air you made it!

    @@CliffWagnerThere used to be a military driver option on the Uber app and recently I tried to use it and I could not bring/access the option, I don't know if Uber dropped the option or if it was me that could not figure it out but the last time I used it it was pretty simple to access it.

    I remember you suggested to have an alternate return plan and consider taking a flight that is not the base of your choice. You included a visual of California. You listed North Island Naval Station as a return local. How can I verify that category 6 is eligible to use NINS?

  • @CliffWagner

    @CliffWagner

    Жыл бұрын

    As you know, Navy passenger terminals, unlike AMC, are still using Facebook to list their flight information and supporting information. I took a look at Naval Air Station North Island - Air Terminal's Facebook page at: facebook.com/NASNorthIsland.AirTerminal - they had posted some specific guidance on eligible passengers there and the link to that document is: facebook.com/photo/?fbid=495806785985413&set=a.216865127212915 - I would bring your attention to paragraph 5, which specifically discusses eligibility for 100% P&T disabled veteran passengers and their eligible dependents. As you are aware DoDI 4515.13 (the regulation) establishes your eligibility, so pretty much every Air Force and Navy passenger terminal is required to allow eligible passengers from all space-a categories to compete for available seats once all space required passengers have been accommodated. However, the extent of a veterans disability as it concerns mobility could become a factor in some aircraft configurations. Also, the aircraft crew has ultimate say as to whether space-a passengers are going to be allowed on an aircraft. My sense of things is that it is a rare event that space-a passengers would be disallowed, but anything can happen. I hope this information is useful to you.

    Thanks for doing this. I am now fully retired from everything and am looking forward to playing Space A bingo to see where I can go. In the old days, you used to be able to ask "where is that flight going" and possibly catch a seat with no problem. Of course, that was pre-9/11. But a couple of questions if you could answer please. Do they still have the embassy runs from the main overseas bases? I'm looking at going to Hickham and from there to the South Pacific. Another question would be if there are any forums for Space A riders? I tried to google it, but they all seemed defunct. Any help would be appreciated.

    Steve, congratulations on being officially and completely retired! These days Air Force - Air Mobility Command (AMC) has most all of their passenger terminals listed on their website and it is a pretty easy matter to go to the passenger terminal(s) you are watching and track upcoming departures on either their 72 Hour schedule (mostly cargo aircraft) or the 30 Day schedule which is the Patriot Express or rotator. Not sure what your point of origin will be, but if you can get to Travis AFB, CA it is a pretty simple matter to get over to Hawaii from there. As for Space A forums, I recommend that you look at the various groups on Facebook. There are a ton of them and many of them feature a great knowledgebase. Once you join the group(s) you can search for various topics to help you gear up. Hope that information is useful to you and thanks for supporting the channel. - Cliff

    How do i know if a flight is a patriot express vs one where you can stretch out like in the video? I don't even know what its called. Is it long haul flights?

  • @CliffWagner

    @CliffWagner

    Ай бұрын

    Patriot Express is listed on a 30-Day Schedule on Passenger Terminal AMC Webpages. Installations that don't feature Patriot Express do not have a 30-Day Schedule. Once the calendar time-frame puts those flights within the 72-hour time-frame, they will pop up on the 72-Hour Schedule at that same terminal. Check out this video for more information about Patriot Express: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJuupLubh7m6iJM.html

    @@CliffWagner hi, I did watch them all. But I just didn’t see anything about how to sign up for a destination. From s Ed hat I gather you just sign up for space a and go to the terminal when the flight you want is leaving and sign up for that flight at that time. Not how we did it when I was active duty about 20 years ago.
