I know myself with alcohol, addiction is a viscous cycle. Once you are in it it is very difficult to break. If you are bored and uninspired doing endless shows in Vegas you have to change that. You have to remove the triggers that feed your addiction. If you don't , they will continue and your drug use will escalate because, regardless of the drug, it takes more and more of a drug to recapture that initial "high" you loved so much.

Come on he needed Dilaudid a painkiller 10 times stronger than morphine 3 times daily I had 2 back surgery s and was not prescribed that on top of morphine Dexedrine pure speed Plaxidil sleeping pills Valium Demerol that he did inject not to mention all the drugs he received from other doctors one claimed he was given surgical cocaine because he was persistent. He did more than musician but fans give him a pass on top of carrying 5 guns everywhere he went there are still bullet holes at Graceland and he was so reckless. 2035 Elvis full drug use will be released Priscilla had it sealed till every one passed by the medical investigators.

Elvis had an addiction WE ALL KNOW THIS.....Just like thousands before him and thousands since him our WHOLE country has an epidemic of this ....He was the greatest performer who ever lived and that's the way his millions of fans will remember him not for his illness because addiction IS AN ILLINESS LETS MOVE ON....

@helenmallory3002 Have you ever considered the fact that Elvis had 9 medical conditions and had prescribed meds for each condition. The inability to sleep is a vast medical issue.Without sleep we die.At that time opioids were prescribed and thought mon addictive for sleep. We know they are addictive. The question is whether it is better to sleep with the use of opioids or is it better to die for lack of sleep? The answer is easy.

But why was he addicted if he was? Read Sally Hoedel's book Destined to Die Young. He needed meds to function due to his nine medical conditions .In many situations, taking pills to manage a disease has consequences. So it boils down to damned if you do and damned if you don't .Everyone knows he was addcted ? No they fo not.Maybe he was but there is possibility that he wasn:t.He often took placebos. So he may not have been addicted if placebos suffice. He only took prescribed meds He did not buy street drugs..a big difference...his meds were all legal.Regardless, addicted or not, he needed meds to function in every day life because of the illnesses he had.

Love your videos Billy cause you do your research and tell the truth of Elvis. I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was about 8 and I’m 62 now. Nothing can stop me from admiring and loving Elvis but I want to know as much as I can the good and the not so good. I loved Joe Esposito and Charlie Hodge but they wouldn’t tell all they knew. I choose to respect Red,Sonny, Dave, Lamar and Marty Lacker cause they tell it all. But they also tell how much they loved him and miss him. And I believe them. They are my favorite Memphis Maphia Members. Don’t sugar coat it. Elvis like us wasn’t perfect but he was one of the most caring, giving people to have lived. Nothing to hate on anyone of these men for they all did the best they could do. Elvis didn’t know he was harming himself and like you’ve said and I been saying it also. Anybody with a little common since that know enough about Elvis knows that Elvis got everything he wanted when he wanted. He was Elvis the greatest entertainer ever.

@lewhite99 - I STILL adore Joe Esposito and Charlie Hodge because despite letting the fans know that Elvis did take drugs and yes he was a very naughty boy dating while wed to Priscilla, but they didn't do it in such a salacious manner that they knew would sell far more than the manner they did adopt; which was to show Elvis the respect and Love a good friend deserves. They had such respect for Elvis and I also think that whatever they knew they believed some of it didn't need to be known by his Fans. I'm not a fan of Sonny, Red, Dave Hebler, Lamar Fike or Marty Lacker because they ultimately did have their own agenda and it wasn't in Elvis' best interests. In "Elvis, What Happened?" there's a lot of stuff they comment on and disparagingly so that they would have had no idea how any of it would have actually gone down, but they played up to the fans to sell the book. They made Parker into a Villain, and Lacker had such a problem with Joe Esposito coming in and being made Foreman of the guys over Lacker that he makes accusations about Joe that again he would have had no idea about. There's a lot of supposition in that book, same with the Alannah Nash books, as if they are inside Elvis' head, and they do that because they're hoping the fans would look at them as if they would/should know and therefore it must be fact. In an interview after Elvis Presley had passed away (you can find it on youtube) Sonny West admitted the book was first written out of revenge because they were angry and bitter over being fired and also for money because they were broke - I admire Sonny for admitting as much (and he has my respect for doing so), the others never did; they said it was an intervention and that was all it was for. Makes no sense at all for it to have been an intervention. Red West's telephone call he recorded of him and Elvis in conversation was in October 1976 - 10 months before Elvis passed away. He had every opportunity to tone down what was being said in the book, but he didn't. He couldn't cancel the publication of the book because he and the others were under contract, but it could have been presented in such a way where the facts were there but not in the way it eventually came across. The book reads exactly as Sonny stated, full of revenge and bitterness, with an intention to hurt. Do I believe Red & Sonny West loved Elvis? Yes I do believe that. Do I believe they utterly regretted the book? Yes, I do believe that, but it does not eradicate what he and the others were actually party to - and that was to make Elvis pay for firing them.

Regarding Red West and his book pals...Is it better to ruin Elvis career by writing the book and causing him massive hurt anf stress and wrie the salacious book or go get a real job to support yiur fsmily snd wait fot Elvis to surely rehire you anf remain friends? The answer is easy..ruin his career and drive him into deep drepression at the loss of his popularity? Right? Not!! Love and hate are closely relatef.Red et al loved Elvis but they stated on video that their book was wtitten for revenge and money. Ghost written by a 'very factual" National Enquirer employee who told them to lie and embellish to sell more books.Red never bothered to grasp why Elvis took many meds although Elvis always told him he needed them to live ( 9 medical conditions). The jealious, self righteous, judgmental Red et al took drugs. He had sex with underage girls said June Juanico and he was a jailbird. So what does that make fans who believe him? Can you say either stupid or eyes wide shut.Either one or both apply.

Sonny West admitted that the book "What happened" was written for money (it's in Marty Lacker book "Elvis portrait of a friend") : who would "help" a friend by writing a tell all book with a Ruppert Murdoch journalist who published abstracts of the recorded conversation between Red West and Elvis in newspapers of 1976 ? What did Sonny and Red West really do to save Elvis before 1976 ? Helping Priscilla to cheat on Elvis with Mike Stone ? A real friend would have talked about that affair to Elvis (instead of lying to him about Stone) : that could maybe have helped Elvis to be aware that he was losing his wife before it was too late for Elvis to save the family of his own.

Elvis didn't die- he'd had enough of all the ungrateful users. Google Ron Laytner interview of Billy Smith and Marty Lacker Elvis's best man about how Elvis switched places with a person who was dying and took off. Elvis was strong willed and he wasn't about to let his manager obligate him to more unhealthy, boring years. By faking his death, Elvis avoided years of Court battles with Parker, those he'd made deals with, Ginger n her family, Priscilla and others living off his performing.

I’m only 31 years old and I’m a huge fan of Elvis and the way he conducted himself publicly and with fans his entire career these celebrities today would be wise to watch how Elvis dealt with the media he would politely decline to answer any controversial or politically charged questions and he treated everyone with respect. But as far as his death goes your right it wasn’t a drug overdose it was polypharmacy in other words he may not have used them in excessive amounts even though we know he did it was the laundry list of narcotics (most now banned by the fda) found in his toxicology working against one another and in conjunction to suppress his central nervous system barbiturates, stimulants, anti depressants, benzos, psychoactive drugs, tranquilizers and opioid pain killers are all dangerous in their own right but taken together in a short period of time is extremely dangerous this is what killed him and caused his cardiac arrest along with all of the other serious health problems he already had. The reason they called it a heart attack even before a thorough autopsy and investigation was to protect his image at the time plain and simple that is a vague term used by dr.’s because either they don’t really know or because they need to think about PR. They have footage talking to the guys that either performed or were in the room when the autopsy was performed and his heart and organs examined and they saw nothing of the sort although some were enlarged I think they said his liver was much heavier than it should have been but otherwise healthy and no major blockages to the heart. Although I’m sure his constipation only exacerbated all of that they said he wouldn’t have been able to pass that on his own he would have needed medical intervention

@@wetblanket1977 literally almost everything anyone knows about him is 2nd and 3rd hand knowledge unless you knew him personally that’s the definition unless you physically were there and not many people were . I didn’t need to read anything there is plenty of footage and interviews with the different doctors that were present that day and go over his autopsy in detail as well as all the people in his inner circle and to me when it comes to Elvis that’s as first hand as your going to get whether someone was alive at the time or not is completely irrelevant its about what’s documented and can be proven. the public heard what they wanted you to hear at that time anyways no doctor would ever commit to a cause of death that quickly under normal circumstances especially before the toxicology and bloodwork came back. Nobody can’t tell me with a straight face after seeing that toxicology report and knowing everything the doctor gave him those last couple days not including whatever else he was piling in on top that drugs had nothing to do with his death. I understand the taboo that surrounds that type of death to this day first hand so I can’t imagine the kind of scrutiny and criticism and dark cloud that would come with that circumstance back then so I understand why they handled it the way they did. I understand there is a ton of false information out there but if you look hard enough the truth is pretty easy to see. But I know for myself and real fans knowing the way he died has nothing to do with our perception of him his talent or the life he lived if anything it just shows he was nothing more than human just like the rest of us in a way it makes him even more endearing.

Elvis had inherited a very bad heart. In his final concert special, recorded months before he died,, Elvis introduceds his father to the audience. He mentions then that his father had just had heart surgery. Elvis' death at 42 was a mix of a bad heart, drugs and weight.

Maybe you should read " Destined to die young". Elvis had MAJOR health problems from birth. There is WAY more to that story. His mom, Grandma Doll & 6 of his 8 uncles all died in their 40's. He took perscriptions to deal with his Genetic health problems, his enlarged paralyzed colon, Glaucoma, Antitrypsin Deficiency, a condition which can result in lung and/or liver disease both of which he had severely at the time of his death. Elvis was never a smoker or drinker. He had Together with the immune system disorder, hypogammaglobulinemia, which plagued Elvis all his life and caused him to constantly fight various infections. His “inherited” weak heart, reactive arthritis, and the impact of his nocturnal lifestyle, resulting in a lack of vitamin D, the effects of which contributed to respiratory infections, reduced immune function, and inflammation. Of the 11 bodily systems that operate to keep us alive and hopefully healthy. Critically, Elvis suffered disease or disorder in nine of them! And five were present from birth and pre his fame. His heart (circulatory system), his lungs (respiratory system), and his bowels (digestive/excretory systems) required medication. Insomnia affected his nervous system……His immune system was compromised. His urinary system was not functioning properly. At one point there was even talk of dialysis. Often he is dismissed as just another rock ‘n’ roll drug addict. He wasn't taking street drugs. He was taking perscriptions not to "ESCAPE" h was taking them to try to maintain some sense of normalcy as himself in a time where the medical field was limited. No DNA, Genetics, No MRI's, little known about the addiction, his dystrophy & No understanding of Vitamin D even. Looking at the illnesses and disorders, that mounted upon each other over the decades, it’s no coincidence that Elvis’ prescription drug use increased as his health declined. From ear infections to chronic tonsilitis to recurrent flus to eye infections and glaucoma…..these arguably insignificant ailments independently, grew into something more. As his body broke down, alongside multiple immune system disorders and genetic complications, prescription medication and his handy PDR tried to fill the gaps. When that no longer worked, hospital stays became the norm and his list of ailments grew. The sicker he got, the more prescriptions he was prescribed. He was seeing a cardiologist before he bought Graceland. He was 20yrs old. They have gone through Elvis's entire life of medical records & now have an entire different story now. This is all the facts Geraldo & 20/20 never stated.

@@williamandhisstarwars So, let me get this straight, let us help Elvis by destroying his image and career. Elvis will appreciate it because we killed his career just trying to help him.Elvis' nurse Tish Kirk said Sonny and Red West deeply hurt Elvis emotionally. He felt they were disloyal. And Sonny and Red admitted on a video they wrote their book for revenge and money..revenge, Vernon had fired him. Do I hold Red and Sonny accountable? You bet. Why did Red record Elvis without his knowledge? He was hoping to trap Elvis but Elvis reminded Red about the time rather recent when he had been hospitalized they found many medical issues. It backfired on Red. Elvis told many confidants that he took meds to help his medical conditions but Red etc kept nagging him about the meds. Without the meds, Elvis would have died even sokner. Elvis never informed the Mafia about personal issues. Macho men do not show weakness to other men..just their women..and ony to a few women confidants. Dean Nichopolous said the Stanley brothers used Elvis' name to ship drugs to Graceland. Elvis tried to control them by having Dean interceptt them. If you want to know which med Elvis took for each medical issue, they are detailed in Elvis Up Close book, chapter 15.There are so many lies about Elvis. These lies hurt him getting new fans. And he did not have weight gain due to fat. Rather, it was bloating due to water retention. Witnesses of his backup singers said he could lose 30 lbs in a week and back to normal. The truth always matters.

As far as the drugs not causing his death...that will be debated for a long time to come. Vernon had the autopsy sealed.

That's not true. Marrying your first cousin once would not cause any kind of defect. Historically, people used to do it all the time. It seems the Presleys suffered from obesity, heart disease/high blood pressure, etc. Elvis and his mother both had Sorosis but it had nothing to do with alcohol. They both had a fatty liver caused by obesity. Those are inherited medical and lifestyle issues. We all have health issues that can be passed down but lifestyle can change those or keep them at bay. If Gladys, Elvis and Lisa had taken better care of their bodies their life expectancy would have been extended.

@TheJpep2424 I take many meds but am not addicted. They treat medical several conditions.I need them so I do not stroke out or have a heart attack.Elvis had nine medical conditions for which he took only prescribed meds He took opioids which were considered safe then..no other treatment for his congenital sleep disorder as a baby..His mom also had to pick him out as a baby due to having dead nerves in his colon. He had high blood pressure, having at least two previous heart attacks.Larry Gellar witnessed the severity of one of them. The third one killed him. He had pernicious anemia and took vitamin B12 injections.Linda Thompson would give them. This liver disease killed him.He had other diseases such as glaucoma and wore sunglasses He had lots if arthritic pain.Kathy Westmoreland,Charlie Hodge, and Vernon, Larry Gellari say he had cancer causing his pain. Larry Gellar witnessed one heart attack.Plus there are his medical records and hospital doctors who discuss his diseases Elvis constantly told everyone who attacked him for taking meds that he needed them.He did or he could not function or live. Many of his diseases could kill him such as pernicious anemia (liver) and high blood pressure ( heart attack) and sleep disorder.Multi. Millions take the now available non narcotics to sleep.Elvis did not have that opportunity. He would go three days without sleep .Without sleep we die.Better to take all these meds tan die.His nurse ,according to doctor orders, and Billy Smith and others, often stuffed pill capsules with placebos. So if you take placebos and not opioids, that shows he was not addicted.Whether he was addicted or not, opioids were necessary for him to function.Without sleep we die.So his toxicology report shows he had those many meds in his system, even opioids. The thing is, if you know about pharmacology which I have years under my belt, it is important to know, in that report, no opioid had a level adequate to kill him, let alone treat his medical conditions. They had worn off and time to redose but he died.Another fact is he took one step off the commode and died where he lay.If you die from an overdose., you just go into a no recoverable sleep. No taking if even one step..just fall over or lie there..His autopsy report shows he died from valsavar maneuver, clogged colon from three months back because his barium enema eas still in his stool. This straining causes a fatal arrythmia and then a heart attack. If you want to believe he was addicted, that is okay but have pity that he needed so many meds and suffered just to live. His perpetual constipation must have been a big daily ordeal. Please inform yourself better by reading only sources that he confided in ( only a handful) and his medical records and hospital records.Friend and employees were friends and refused to listen and Elvis never told them everything. He had a macho image to keep up with most people like the Memphis Mafia. They denied him when he told them he needed the meds. These employees and friends were deliberately keep iut of the loop by Elvis. All they say is conjecture because they refused to understand what little he told them..very little. .

OMG they did not write the book out of love, it was spite and everyone knows it. Please stop with the foolishness. And as far as dr nick wanting Elvis to exercise and got him into racketball??? Seriously guys just stop. They did it because they used Elvis for his money for the racketball and even sued Elvis over it when they used his name without his consent. Not love, all done for money. Dr nick got tons of money off Elvis…homes, cars, trips, cash you name it. Stop with the excuses.

I understand Dave Hebler and Red and Sonny West felling anger and disappointment over their sudden firing and then wanting to 'get even' with Elvis. Which was their original intent, according to an interview with one of those guys. They were pissed and wanted to make some easy money. That "wanting to help Elvis" business was something that they later claimed in order to gin up some sympathy for themselves in the eyes of Elvis's many fans and the public in general. But that book deeply hurt Elvis, and if I were a member of Elvis's family I would have nothing but complete condemnation for those guys.
