Red West Funeral Tribute to His Life and Legacy Elvis Bodyguard Spa Guy Visits

Ойын-сауық

Friends, This is my second version of this video I left out the song Sweet Spirit in the first one and added some more footage to this one to make it complete.. I don't think it is complete without that song in it as it was sung at Elvis, Sonny & Red's funerals.. This video is about The Spa Guy attending the Funeral of Red West in Memphis on Monday July 24th 2017 and telling stories about his life and legacy... Remember friends Red West was a Husband, Father and Grandfather so be nice any negative remarks will be removed in respect for his family.. Subscribe for more fun...

I met Red West in 1956 at the Olympia Theater in Miami, Florida where I had gone to see Elvis in person. My cousin was president of Elvis' fan club in Coral Gables, Florida and she had called the Colonel to ask if we could meet Elvis when we got to the theater. He said we could, but when we arrived and saw Col. Parker, and told him who we were, he said he couldn't let us meet Elvis. I turned and saw Red West and told him what had happened. He said, "Come with me." He then took us up the steps to the dressing room where we met Elvis and he signed a lot of autographs for the fan club. What a joy that was! So I will never forget Red West and how kind he was to us.

@@SideMoneyGarage Elvis was lounging on his bed and we gave him a big teddy bear which he lifted toward him and said, "I am going to call it Jitney Gene." He wasn't in lounging clothes, just casual slacks and sweater. Can you believe that my sister who was with us had her camera and never thought to ask if she could take his photo? At least we have our memories.

Thank you for this... Red West was my very first acting coach. I attended his actors studio. After being under Red's mentorship, Mr. West encouraged me to move to Los Angeles to act. He was right. I took his advice and moved to Los Angeles and became a working actor and was able to support myself and provide for my children for over 17 years. Red TRULY CHANGED MY LIFE... He was such a kind man. And he gave me the confidence to believe I could do more than be just a local actor. He really loved Mrs. Pat West as well. My life is so much richer having known him. REST IN POWER MR. WEST!!! Rest in power...

I attended Red's visitation and he did have a line of folks waiting to talk to the family & see Red for the last time. I met a high school friend of Red while in line & he taked about how much Red would play ball & that Elvis was there everywhere Red was. He also said how loud Red was too, you couldn't keep him quiet he said. I taked to Pat, Red's wife also and told her that Red is with Jesus and one day we will be with him again, take comfort in the Lord during this time and you'll get through it. I owned a hot dog stand in Memphis and Red was a customer of mine. I got to know Red & his bride Pat and they were the best, Red liked the memorabilia I had on the wall. Red stared at a poster of Elvis and a tear came to his eye, so I knew then he loved and missed him deeply. Red was a true gentleman. RIP My Friend.

Just a beautiful trubute Billy. It's funny I had just heard on my car radio today, George Klein and Red on an interview. Geo. was asking Red about his career after Elvis. How he had contributed songs to Elvis' repertoire. Didn't realize he wrote songs that Elvis recorded. Love," Why Can't Everyday Be Like Christmas" and really loved, "Separate Ways" So many gone now in Elvis' entourage. Thanks again, it was a lovely funeral to honor Red. ❤

If Seperate ways got any Promotional out in front of the release, I feel it would have been another GOLD RECORD for Elvis. Red was a friend and we shoud remember that, and I think most of us realize that they did have a special bond , even with that book that came out. I know I’m late in seeing this, but I did hear of his and Sonny’s passing and I’m sorrowful for their loved one’s loss. I’m thankful that they shared their life’s journey with us. I truly enjoy hearing their stories regarding Elvis, as with others within that special entourage. I’m even more thankful that these fellas had salvation, bc as you stated, that’s all that truly matters and what’s going to count in the afterlife. I love the camaraderie and closeness we feel for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We all grieve and miss our loved ones when they pass on, sometimes terribly as it changes our life, but we find a great comfort through the Holy Spirit bc we KNOW and FEEL we will see them again bc of Jesus. I recently turned 42 and I cling dearly to precious memories of yesteryear and our elders bc I miss those days of sincerity and God fearing ppl and society. It literally troubles my spirit being in a world where ppl have waxed cold and society upholding confusion and sins against humanity and the Lord. Heaven’s getting sweeter every day and I know I can say this beyond a shadow of a doubt, our loved ones would not come back to this world for all the love or riches it can offer bc none of it compares to the love, sanctification and goodness of God! They’re safe and out of a world full of troubles, pain, sorrow and sin. This coming January will mark the five year anniversary of my dad’s passing. I’ve lost some of the nearest and dearest a person can have and I’ll admit I struggle at times but I cling to Jesus. I’m very blessed as I was raised by two beautiful souls that raised me in Salvation first and foremost. My faith with God’s mercy and grace have pulled me through some very rough times. The enemy will hit us the hardest when we are so low, hurt, weak-vulnerable. I thank God when I stumble across good ppl like yourself with a testimony of truth and hope. Kindred spirits feel the peace and the hope of our homecoming, and appreciates it so much during these later/last days.

Actually if they were true blue then they would have respected Elvis enough not to write a book which would defame the image that Elvis spent a lifetime creating. They knew how serious Elvis was about how he appeared to his fans. The stress they caused Elvis by the impending release of this book contributed to Elvis demise.

I was talking to Donnie Sumner a view years ago about Elvis and of course asking him questions about his private life. He told me a lot of things but at one point he said, "you would have to ask Red or Sonny about that, Elvis had a private life that only they new about." Remember, Elvis didn't die on Red and Sonny's watch! True friends!!! I wish Elvis would have heeded their advise. While others sat by they tried to intervene and it cost them! Let me say this about Red West. He was a BADASS who could flatten 5 guys in a fight, and his quick temper was probably his biggest weakness, but he was also a sensitive soft hearted guy who would protect you, and I believe that he cared well for his family, and was loyal to his boss, Elvis. He also sang quite well. Welcome to your new home, Red, We love you!

Billy, thanks for the reply. Man, I have a question, I've been an Elvis historian since I was 10 years old. I'm 41 and my mom was pregnant with me when Elvis died. I ran across that interview Charlie Hodge made back in the late 80s, it's on KZread, it's called something like " My Friend Elvis " something like that, he talks for 2 hours. So, as I was watching it, Charlie stated that one day before Elvis died, he was at Vernons house and Dr. Nick walked in. Charlie said that Nick told them both that what he was about to tell them was strictly confidential , he told them that Elvis had bone cancer! Now, do you think Charlie just said that to kind of make it look like Elvis was in so much pain that is why he took all the pills? Do you think Nick said that to kind of make an excuse to Vernon regarding Nick giving him so much medicine? What do you think? I guess we will know when Elvises records get un sealed in a few more years! What do you think?

I liked Red in the movie Road House because he reminded me of my late dad and looked a lot like him but dark hair, and my dad was born in 1934. I didn't know he was Elvis body guard until my late dad told me.

C, I agree and this is not the place for that.. I am about preserving the history and legacy.. If they want to hate they can go to their own channel.. It is not allowed here.. If they are not nice I block them.. Solves future issues because haters are going to hate and negativity has no place in my life or others lives especially the families of these people.. Thanks for watching, Spa Guy

Hello there Spa guy very well done video very respectfully done and I like in the beginning of video you read a message from the book from from the funeral home saying that everybody dies and they should get to know Jesus that's a good message I'll tell people that you know the clothes that you wear the cars that you drive the money that you have it doesn't mean anything because you can't take it with you the only thing you do take with you is the memories that we have of this life so why not take your life try to make somebody else happy and break yourself happy as well life is about being happy we need more love and happiness and love of the Lord we had all three of those this world will be a better place I remember I saw the Roadhouse and red West was in the movie how cool is that we have a Elvis connection to Roadhouse how cool is that I'm sorry for the long message but I really enjoyed this video thank you you have a good day now

Red West was genuine decent man. Red West was 100 % correct to confront Elvis Presley about his drug dependency regardless of the consequences. Red West lived 41 years longer than Elvis Presley. Had Elvis Presley listened to his true friend, Red West, he might be alive today. Red West has gone and met his maker and has to been reunited with Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley has welcomed his friend with a warm embrace and acknowledged that Red was right about the dangers of drug dependency.

Great tribute to Red West and his passing/funeral. You did a wonderful job just like with Sonny's funeral. Red died from the same affliction that took out the actor John Ritter, an aortic aneurism. You just never know what's around the corner.

Mr. Spa Guy my man Billy...…………..you said it all and so good about that we all will live this earth someday and then it is over with the fame or whatever but one thing though, some people leave special memories that we all can enjoy like we can enjoy what Elvis did do while he was alive by watching his movies and concerts and song's...……………..not all will leave that for us left here on this earth. ok, thanks again Billy for all what you do. TCB from Vasa Finland.
