When Elvis passed away I was 17 and went on vacation with my friend and her parents we were driving home to Iowa from Georgia and every radio station was playing Elvis songs. My friend's dad was not an Elvis fan and he kept turning the radio to a different station because he was trying to find a station that was not playing Elvis music. He could not find one radio station that was not playing Elvis music! We were laughing silently to ourselves in the backseat because we liked elvis. LOL

@@claudiamarvin3730 I was 14 my mother was taking my brother and me to get back to school clothes. The radio says Elvis Presley has died suddenly at his Graceland home in Memphis I'll never forget he plays the song, Burnin Love. My mother started crying and my brother and I were fighting back tears. I still remember that we went to Sears and Roebuck's in Boston my mother gave us two pairs of pants each we tried them on and without saying a word, two shirts package of socks, and back in the car. that was the only time we didn't argue with Mom about what kind of style of clothes we got. Funny how things get seared into your memory when someone you care about and idolize dies. We grew up on Elvis, Saturday afternoon at the theatre. On Rainy Sundays with afternoon movies on tv, seemed there was always an Elvis movie. As a kid, my favorite was Flaming Star, and my brother was Kid Galahad. Now my number one Elvis movie is King Creole! My son is 30 he bought the Kid Galahad DVD, I started laughing and told him that's your Uncle's favorite. He says wow that's awesome it's in the genes. My son says Elvis is the coolest dude ever. My son and I have been to Memphis three times, next time he is paying! How cool is it that father and son have the same Idol. Thank you, Elvis Dennis from Boston

When I heard Elvis had died on the radio there was no Internet at that time, it was raining. And according to Indian legend that when it rains a good person has died. And I remember seeing videos, pictures on the news about Elvis’s death. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.

Wow. That is the first time I heard that. My Pop died in 1976 & Nana died in 1986 (my mum's parents). I was alone with my mum when she passed away in hospital. I was holding her hand and I looked out the window and saw that it had begun raining, i said to her "Your so lucky your going to see Nan & Pop again" Soon as I saw it was raining I knew she was going to die as it rained when Nan & Pop died, I instinctively knew. About ten minutes later she passed. 1996. So that is unique, first time ever 27 yrs later to hear of this Indian Legend. 🤝☘🐛......🍀🌻🐝🍀

I just recently saw an old interview with Dr. Nick. He said rigor mortis had set in with Elvis when he checked him in the bathroom once he was found on the floor which meant he had been deceased for a few hours. It's amazing that this ambulance still exists but I have to believe that his soul left from Graceland. I was 10 years old when I heard he died. I really didn't know who he was but all the radio stations were playing his songs and that's how I first heard his music and became a lifelong fan!

It's so cool to see all of my favorite KZreadrs in one video. I'm a faithful viewer of Jordan, the Spa Guy, Globetrotting with Trey and Memphis Mafia Kid. Billy mentioned Sally Hoedel helping with the renovation of the building. She wrote the best book on Elvis in my opinion called Destined to Die Young. The amount of research she did and the way she was able to articulate Elvis' life story is incredible. I really enjoyed this. Can't wait for part two. I can't believe this video has any dislikes.

Thank you multiple times for this vlog. In April while at Graceland, I was talking with staff and the ambulance came up and no one seemed to happen to #6. I wanted to see it and the CPR equipment which may have been used in an attempt to save Elvis’s life. Being a volunteer on our community’s emergency squad, I can only imagine the shock of responding to Graceland and attempting interventions to revive/ save Elvis. Thank you so much again for finding out where #6 was because no one seemed to know where it was. I did not know who the Spa Guy was and that he had #6.

The movie is told from Elvis manager POV and although I think the intention was not to portray him as the “bad guy”, after watching it, it’s really no other way to look at him! After doing more research I found out that on the day of Elvis funeral the manager had Elvis father Vernon sign papers basically giving over all percentage of memorabilia through the estate! The movie is long (I think we’ll over 2 1/2 hours, but it’s definitely a must see if you’re a Elvis fan… and I definitely was a fan because of his ability to take blues and/or gospel and put his own little twist on it)

My dads birthday is June 26th 1957. The first night Elvis spent in Graceland. And he had plans to go see Elvis in Indianapolis on June 26th 1977 for his birthday but his boss wouldn't let him off work. And they found out that Elvis was gonna be here in Louisville in August after he went back on tour so Dad just decided they would get tickets and go then to avoid the drive to Indy and not get in trouble at work. Well needless to say Elvis passed away on Aug 16th 77 about 2 or 3 days before that concert here in Louisville was supposed to happen at Freedom Hall. My dad still regrets not just going to Indy on June 26th anyway because he never got to see Elvis live but knowone would have ever thought Elvis would die. Then another crazy tie to June 26th is that Vernon Passed away on June 26th 1979 which is ofcourse my dads birthday that year and I was born just over a month later on September 12th 1979. I showed my dad how all these dates link up with his birthday and he thinks it's pretty cool as well.

By the early 1970’s, the Memphis Fire Department had exchanged the Superior Coach Company vehicle for a Chevrolet Type 1 modular ambulance, built by Road safe Emergency Vehicles (REV) in nearby Shelbyville, Tennessee. The department also upgraded all ambulance personnel training to the new 81 hr. Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A) basic curriculum. I never will forget the day Elvis died, I was 15 years old . I had walked uptown, with my cousin, to purchase our Tiger Beat magazines. When we came back to the house, my Dad was on the front porch crying. He said... "Elvis died.". That's all I had to hear. We were all crying. I felt as if I knew Elvis personally, but only because my Dad had every single album Elvis ever made. Never will forget the Moody Blue vinyl.. omg.. it was amazing just to look at. My Dad often would put on his shades and try to impersonate Elvis. Yeah. Interesting story. We lost my Dad to cancer back in 2004. During one of Dad's stays in the hospital, actually, his last stay, Dad looked at Mom and said... "Ruth, listen...someone is singing Blue Hawaii.".. Of course, none of us could hear anything at all. Later, we brought Dad home to take care of him until the end. I will never ever forget...the day before he passed away, my Dad sang Blue Hawaii with us girls. Not sure why I shared all of that, but... thank you so much for this video. I would have loved to have met Elvis. I'm very intrigued by all of this. I love watching the tours of Graceland, knowing that Elvis had been there.. it's so amazing, and we Elvis fans truly appreciate people like you. Thank you Lisa

G’ma Lisa…. What you wrote, was a very intimate, personal, beautifully eloquent peek into your past with your dad and how he loved Elvis. THIS COMMENT, YOUR COMMENT, is what makes going to the comment section and reading worthwhile every time! The story that you told of your dad’s love for Elvis, and sharing his sad passing with all of us and what he said to your mom will stay with me forever. You have forever changed my life, if only just for that moment. In a good way for sure. So thank you G’ma Lisa. Thank you for trusting us with this special story about your dad and Elvis. Warm regards, Karla

I'll never forget the day Elvis died. I heard it on our 19". Black and white tv in the afternoon. I was 14 years old & loved Elvis. I cried on & off for months after he passed. I'd lost my chance of ever seeing Elvis in Concert & my heart was broken we'd lost someone so special to the world. I never dreamed 44 years later he'd still be as popular as he is back then. I'm so happy about the museum & look forward to seeing it in the future. ❤️
