Muchas gracias por tu amabilidad. Los que no tenemos tu esperiencia siempre nos gusta una opinión de un modelista como tú. La pregunta era que en el manual de montaje dice que no se pongan clavos en la primera capa de los tablones del casco. Tu elijes no poner clavos, pero yo los voy a poner. Para mí como novato es más facil. Gracias y perdona si te he molestado.

No hay ningún problema, José. Usted es bienvenido. Siempre me alegro de ayudar a otras personas. Los clavos no se aconsejan en una primera capa de tablones porque puede causar algún problema al lijar la superficie con el fin de prepararla para la instalación de la segunda capa. Pero de todos modos no es crítico. Buena suerte para ti en tu construcción.

Very beautiful! The standard is also made fsntastic! Very professional made. I bought the same model, without sails. Now i have the ship complete with sails. The only thing is, in the 17th century, the ships had no steerings wheeles. The inventention was during the 18th century.

Thank you. Yes, you are right about steering wheel, it shouldn't be on the top deck. I made it that way by the special request. As to sails - same here - they were not included in this kit. I found sails configurations in some of the modeling books, and then made them from the scratch from my own materials.

Beautiful work !! - Stern lights, sails and your excellent base stand are all superb additions to this kit. I happen to also be in the middle of building the same kit with a log at MSW. I will go back and review your work several times to get some ideas. Well done indeed.

! @juliebagshaw5139 I used nine 3V LEDs tinted with orange nail polish to make them look more natural and less bright. I connected all the LEDs to the combined source - 2 AA batteries (1.5V + 1.5V). The battery compartment is hidden below the deck. I made a special opening with a door to access this box for changing batteries. And as an option, I also made a connector for a 3V universal power supply. The switch has a pin on the top deck. Hope it helps

Thank you very much, and congrats on your new Mantua kit. Good luck with it. The blue color I would recommend is Navy Blue. But, to my knowledge, there is no strict RGB number to obey.

Hola artista. Estoy haciendo la popa y tengo una duda. Según el plano los balcones y galerías tienen una pequeña inclinación hacia adelante, pero he visto varios barcos y también el tuyo y creo que los ponéis horizontales. Qué me recomiendas. A mi me gusta más horizontales, pero te lo digo por los adornos que luego no vayan bien. Como siempre muchas gracias y un saludo muy grande.

Hola colega. Has notado correctamente que los balcones de la popa tienen una inclinación hacia el centro del barco. El caso es que casi todas las líneas de las barajas, si las miras de lado, no son estrictamente horizontales y rectas. De una forma u otra, son curvas suaves que tienden a aumentar notablemente en la zona de popa. Dado que los balcones son una parte natural de la cubierta, deben estar en el mismo plano que ella. Por lo tanto, desde mi punto de vista, sería un error instalarlos estrictamente horizontalmente (paralelos al nivel condicional de una superficie de agua tranquila) Le aconsejo que siga la línea natural de la cubierta: se verá armoniosa y técnicamente correcta.

No estoy muy seguro de haber entendido correctamente tu pregunta sobre el "forro y los clavos" (tal vez se haya perdido en la traducción) Pero si se trataba de la primera capa de los "tablones del casco" y por qué no usé clavos, entonces esta es la forma en que elijo hacer esa parte del proyecto.

Merci mon ami. Je dirais que 1 500 heures, c'est à peu près correct. Au total, cela m'a pris environ un an avec quelques pauses, mais je n'ai certainement pas pris de notes sur le timing.

Hello and thank you, colleague! I have found some drawings of the Sovereign sails and rigging in the old book (do not have it anymore) Then I scanned this image and adjusted its size to match proportions of my model. Also, it seems to me that I've seen on some modelers site ready to use set of the sails for about $200, but it was long time ago. I can try to find this sails layout in my storage, if you are interested.

Thanks for your respons Gregory. The sails I already made them myself. I used the John Mckay book as a reference for the proper sizes. Now I'm at the point of putting all the blocks on the spars and crow's nests, and that is giving me headaches. Afcourse, I could use the plans of the 'de Agostini model' as a reference, if these are correct. So, how did you figure out to put the right blocks on the spars and crow's nests?

The answer is pretty simple - the smaller blocks go to the top spars, and the larger blocks go to the bottom spars and nests.

ALL THE CARVING are they the original ones for the kits, mantua or did you modify them?

The stand and all the carvings on it are completely my design. This kit has only primitive flat plywood parts meant for the stand.

Hay que preguntar a los artistas como tú. A mi no me importa que me den consejos, me encanta aprender. Por favor sabrías decirme por que el Soberano no lleva ningun bote o barca salvavidas? También si sabes indicarme donde pudiera comprar alguno acorde a la escala del barco. Mantua tiene muy pocos pero no te indica escala ni nada. Gracias amigo. Te espero al siguiente proyecto. Hola José. También me sorprendió cuando no encontré los barcos ni en el decorado ni en los dibujos del Sovereign of the Seas. Por supuesto, un modelo de un barco de esta clase debería tenerlo, y no solo uno. Por ejemplo, en el modelo "Soleil Royal" que construí hace muchos años, había dos barcos que eran ligeramente diferentes en tamaño. En cuanto a la compra de una maqueta, desde mi punto de vista, Mantua fabrica los mejores kits para construir maquetas. Llevo bastante tiempo buscando alternativas, pero la calidad de "Mantua" es la mejor para hoy.

Muchas gracias, intentaré pedir a Mantua alguna barca o bote salvavidas por lo menos 1.Yo tenía muchas ganas de hacer algun barco de Mantua. Tiene buenos acabados, pero para mí tiene un fallo. Yo soy delineante proyectista y los planos que trae no me gustan mucho porque no son a tamaño real, aunque yo los amplio. He tenido varias dudas con la posicion de las troneras porque en otras maquetas, te dan todas las medidas. He hecho maquetas de Occre, de Artesanía Latina, de Amati, pero me gusta mucho Mantua salvo los planos e incluso el manual de montaje que no está muy bien explicado. Saludos desde el norte de España.
