Trey actually used to be able to do Cartman’s voice naturally but they began editing it because if he continued to strain his vocal cords like he was, it would have caused permanent damage.

@@Flome810 There is no actual word. They are just supposed to avoid a hard pronunciation of the letter "p" since it causes a slightly disruptive popping sound in the audio recording.

What’s funny is that Trey Parker used to be able to do Cartman’s voice naturally but had to stop because of the strain it put on his throat.

Very impressed how Cartman does NOT sound similar to Stan and Kyle even though it's the same voice actor. They usually make the difference based on the pitch level from a machine. But that's actually his voice making a different boy's voice.

Eric and Stan do share one but for Kyle and Kenny is debatable. Most characters' voices are done by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Kenny's voices get switched between the two all the time and sometimes even in the same scene.

Their producer has to be pitched up like crazy in the show, it's insane how deep his natural voice is!!

so he pitched the whole thing down to get to Matt & Trey's normal pitch. That's why the sound engineer is lower

I was saying this assuming that they don't use it, cus I can't hear any of the artifacts caused by it, and in the 90s especially, I don't think time stretching could be of a high enough quality to use on commercial productions without severe noticeability. That's why I think it's obvious they just resample it. It would also explain how they manage to talk so fast sometimes...

No actually, he’s able to do it fine without edits, but he uses the edited version in episodes because it’s hard to do and also apparently hurts to do

Kyle's voice is exactly Geralds! :D (And yeah, I know Matt does them both)

This is actually a good description of what they'll sound like in highschool. XD
