It speaks to Mary Kay Bergman’s talents. She was the original voice of every female character until her suicide in 1999. Obviously, more female characters had been introduced since then, but then fact there are so many actresses playing each of her characters in the cast shows how much Bergman lifted by herself. Rest in peace.

I think Trey used to be able to do Cartman's voice naturally but it put too much of a strain on his vocal cords so he had to pitch it up instead

I love how much they prioritize the satire of the show by voicing almost every character themselves. It even says in the disclaimer at the beginning of every episode they intentionally voice characters and celebrities poorly. I love this show

All this time I imitate these characters when I quote them, I've been doing it all wrong.

Seth has the range. You can’t tell some of his characters are voiced by the same person. Matt and Trey theirs are mostly their own but pitched up or done with a funky way. However they do have family guy beat in writing but I’m pretty sure Seth has been out of the writers room for years so can’t blame him for that. South Park is the GOAT though

I think he means in the really early seasons they were not actually pitch changed. It hurt their voices too much though and from that point they changed the pitch.
