Fun facts: • This episode marks the first time where Butters Stotch appears as an extra member of The Boys. • According to the DVD commentary, the Japanese man who repeats the "incredibly large penis" trick is based on someone Trey Parker and Matt Stone met in Beijing. • All of the Japanese, with the possible exception of "Garrison-san", is correct Japanese. Trey Parker studied Japanese in college and speaks it fluently. • This is the last episode where Mary Kay Bergman voices Wendy Testaburger before her Passing on November 11, 1999. • The Japanese term chinpoko means "small pee pee". The entire phrase "Chinpokomon" means "pee pee [pocket] monster" in Japanese. • Kenny having a seizure is a reference to Dennô Senshi Porygon (Cyber Soldier Porygon/Electric Soldier Porygon) (1997), which was never aired outside of Japan, as the flashing light patterns had induced seizures in many children. • Owatta Beikoku means "the U.S. is finished" while marching. • Hirohito, the name of the Japanese mastermind was the real Japanese emperor's name. However, the real life Hirohito died 10 years prior to the airing of this episode, succeeded by his son Akihito.

Yo' D jajajaja this is a certified classic. For the Japanese part they are saying correctly the answer to the multiplication juu-hachi means 18 and for the "Garrison-san savishi" means. Mr. Garrison is upset. And the other children answer "so desu-ne" means. I know right?. The sound "chinpo" means p*nis in Japan so chinpo-komon literally means monster-p*nis. If you want another translation from japanese just ask for it fam 👍🏼👍🏼

The only thing that didn't age particularly well is that Matt and Trey truly did believe that Pokemon was just a fad that would go away. Little did they know how much staying power that franchise would have, but in their defense, I can't imagine most adults at the time expected Pokemon to be this massive. Now we're living in an age where even quite a number of the adults who didn't get into it back in the day are getting into it and somehow, most kids are fine with that. (Which, okay, as someone who has gotten my dad into a lot of shows I liked as a kid, I too see that as a good thing) Heck, look at all the big-named KZread critics who make a living off of analyzing it and its many themes. And even knowing this, the episode is still hilarious. That bike commercial is one of the funniest things to ever come from this show. (And who can forget Alabama MAN!?) As for my connection, I went through a 'too old for it' phase around middle school, got back into it in high school, but even then, that was mostly the games. Didn't truly get invested in the anime until very recently when they finally got rid of Ash, not to mention the miniseries are a breath of fresh air. Edit: Wow, a lot of people hate the fact that there are adults into this franchise. Come on, guys, you're acting just like all the cynical old people who hate everything you grew up with. Also, no, calling adults sad and pathetic for liking something you don't like is not criticism. It's ageist and judgemental. It's no different than being told animation is for children, blindly agreeing with it then going around telling people they're not allowed to enjoy it once they turn 13.

I'm not joking when I say that it was like if you _didn't_ have any cards, you were pretty much considered an outcast. I speak some Japanese. Fun fact first: the episode is an insult, translating literally as "small p-nis" and translating more accurately as "monster p-nis". They said, in order: "Is it 18?" (juu-hachi, desu ka?) "It's 18, right?" (juu-hachi, da ne) I don't know what Cartmen or Kyle are saying, because one of the words just...isn't a word. A Japanese-learning forum says the word might mean "desolate" or "lonely" so in the context they could be saying: "Oooh, Mr Garrison is such an ass." (Garrison-san [sabushi] da na.) "What did he say?" "He said [repeats above]." "Sou, da ne." (That's right.) Cartman says another word I'm not familiar with just before he farts, but even without knowing it the full context is apparent: "Everyone, quick quick..." (minna-san, kitekite [churi]...) "Who did that?" (dare ga pu shita no?) Trey Parker's page on the South Park wiki says he's fluent in Japanese from college, though interviews and his Wikipedia page say he only learned a little. Which is strange, because of the grammar and words used are perfect, but others and their pronunciations in the ninja episode are just enitrely wrong.
