You’ve been warned not to come to Texas between the end of April and the beginning of November. Not only is it very hot and humid but that’s hurricane season. Especially in coastal Texas ( Houston). If it wasn’t for air conditioning most people wouldn’t want to live here. Although we didn’t have an air conditioner in our home or car when I was growing up. That was over 50 yrs ago. 🥵🥵🥵🧓🏻👍🏻

Texas is a great destination to see America. I think Josh and Ollie did a great job with location and destinations. You MUST try Terry Blacks and Buc-ees. You should also try and plan a vacation when the Rodeo is in town. I am not from Texas but I have family there and I don't think Austin is the greatest representation of "Texas". They are more just about keeping it weird. I think you are looking for more of the Cowboy experience and not the hippie experience.

If you go to Austin and rent a car, drive down to San Antonio for some excellent Mexican food (find a smaller mom and pop kind of place, but you can enjoy some time at the places along the river, too). Also, stop at New Braunfels near San Antonio for a bit of a Texas German experience.

I find it kinda adorable at how frustrated you get watching these food videos with Josh and Ollie. I hope you find some really good food when you come to the states. Hint about Mexican food if you want to try it when in Texas....the best Mexican food you will ever find either comes from a food truck or, believe it or not, from a gas station. There is something to be said about authentic Mexican tacos...and they are cheap, usually around 2 bucks a piece...just watch it when adding any salsa, it can get really spicy depending on who makes it!

I’m Medium Rare for steak. I’m fine if it’s rare or medium as well but Medium Rare is perfect to me. I’d definitely recommend flying into Austin and doing a trip around that area. You’ve got Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, San Antonio and Houston all within reach of Austin. We just did our first Texas trip that way and it was awesome. We ended up going to a small town called Leona and ate at Leona’s General Store to get steak. It’s a true real Texas experience going there. They’re open only 3 days a week and they serve steak for 2 of the days. It’s not a fancy restaurant but it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten.

@Jono Graham Reacts Key Lime pie originated in the Florida Keys, a tiny string of islands originating from the tip of Florida, going westward into the Gulf of Mexico. On these islands grows a tiny lime whose juice when combined with condensed milk slightly reduced and poured into a pieshell makes a sweet and tart, tender-curd custard barely half the density of a cheesecake.

native Texan geezer here. if you're looking to feast your way through Texas, there are a lot of options all over the state. HOWEVER... if you want to combine that feasting with a good club scene, night life, and plenty of things to do, then i recommend the central hill country. Austin, and San Antonio (hello Alamo!) are the places you want to be. San An is a little more in the history. Austin is a little more in the future. but both have their places in the collective heart of Texas. (i'm a Fort Worth/Burleson native, so making this recommendation kind of hurt my soul a little, but truth is truth. on your next trip to Texas, you should hit up Fort Worth since there's a lot going on there, too.)

My uncle likes what is known as a blue steak. It’s just been warmed thru & is just shy of raw I like medium rare Key lime pie is a lime custard pie made from the juice of the key lime. Key limes are also called Mexican limes. They are very small limes If you don’t have access to key limes. You can approximate the taste of key limes by making a concoction of 2 parts lemon juice to one part regular lime juice

Key lime pie is key lime juice & condensed milk (base) Nellie & Joe's key lime juice, from Key West, in a bottle is the ONLY one to use if you're not able to get fresh key limes (NOT limes, key limes) 💜

My best friend, during my teen years, liked his steak similar to you, Jono, get the grill super hot, throw the ribeye on it for 10 seconds, flip it over for 10 more seconds, throw it on the plate. Would like to try the truffle butter(usually drizzle garlic butter over mine) but a complete nope on the blue cheese dip, I loathe blue cheese. Key lime and pecan are my top two pies/cakes. Only dessert I like better is homemade banana pudding(with handmade custard and actual bananas, not any artificial garbage).

You'll love it down here. Native to Houston, but also Austin & San Marcos throughout my 50 years, Here are some things I think are worth the time: Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels or at least tubing the Guadalupe or San Marcos Rivers; The Alamo & River Walk in San Antonio; Moody Gardens in Galveston; NASA, The Hobbit Cafe, The Aquarium, Museum of Natural Science in Houston; Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas; The Houston Rodeo & Texas Rennaisance Festival ( Both the Worlds Largest) are also quite fun depending on what time of year you are here. And may I mention looking into the small towns where you find some of the best foods. Brenham - Blue Bell Ice Cream factory, Chappell Hill is known for their sausage, the little antique shops and resale shops along the way can be quite amazing like historical Fredericksburg Texas or a million other towns along the way. The Hill Country will make you fall in love like Barton Springs, Dripping Springs, a drive down Devils Backbone can be quite enthralling! Hope you enjoy whatever y'all do! We'll be very blessed to have y'all here! 😊

I’m from Houston and Taste of Texas is actually a really good steak restaurant. It is quite pricey the tomahawk is $118 and the cowboy steak is $78 but some of the best out there. Ollie and Josh didn’t take advantage of the salad/cheese/bread bar but it’s a huge spread and def helps when you need a meat break. The appetizers just get all of it lol we’re normally too full for dessert but since we go on birthdays and anniversary’s they go all out and give us a dessert and take our picture for us to keep. It’s really nice :) Overall def worth trying if y’all come to visit! Our airport and dallas are some of the bigger international airports in the states so flights are genarally cheaper when you fly into Houston or Dallas. Bratislava to Houston in June is $648 round trip. Josh and Ollie hit all the big must visit places in Texas for sure :) I recommend Terry Blacks sides, beef ribs, and dessert but go to Franklins and order online for pickup for the briskets (still great and you don’t have to wait the 4+ hours plus they bring it hot and packaged to your car). Stop by a buccees and grab a brisket sandwich add jalapeño slices and pick up a praline pecan to snack on and def ask to sample the jerky free at the counter! You have to try the mexican food here too! Trompo, Birria, elote, agua Frescas all worth a try! And if y’all come in the summer, warning it is humid and hot sometimes averaging 100°F or 37° C and the mosquitos are wilddd here. Texans normally try to escape it by river rafting/tubing. Lone Star Float House rents rafts/tubes and has great burgers and a deck that overlooks the river. Hope this all helps :) (The only downside to Houston is the horrible traffic/road rage and lack of public transportation… if you’re driving never get into the furthest left lane unless you go 80+mph, the middle lanes cruise at 75+mph, and the slowest exit lane on the far right is the speed limit) Good luck!

Flying into Austin would be great. You can hit San Antonio, the beach at chorus Christi or Galveston and Padre Island, and hit Houston. There’s amusement parks and the river walk in San Antonio as wells as the Alamo, the Austin comedy clubs and music venues, Houston has lots of good food and the Rodeo. There’s lots to see and do. I would time it for around the time of the Houston rodeo, otherwise you might die of heat exhaustion. And all of it is within 2-4 drive of each other.

The State Fair of Texas is also going on in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in October so there will be all of the fair food for you to try. And don't forget Buc-ee's. Every time I go into one and see the jerky bar, I think of you! LOL Key Lime pie is a pie made with a specific type of lime found only in the Key West area of Florida. It usually has a graham cracker crust and the filling is cold and citrusy with a smooth and creamy texture and it's topped with whipped cream, it's fantastic. I hope you enjoy your travel to Texas and I'm looking forward to seeing the videos!

Key limes are a very small, very tart, fragrant variety of limes that come from the Florida Keys. A real key lime pie is only made with those limes, not regular ones.

Key lime pie is a type of "custard"(not really) pie made from lime juice(traditionally from Key limes, a variety grown in Florida) that is mixed with sweetened condensed milk. The acid of the limes curdles the sweetened milk causing it to set like a custard without baking. If made with the right balance of lime to sweetness it is very good. Not totally dissimilar to a cheesecake but a softer texture and an extremely intense citrus flavor like a lime curd. Think of it like a lime flavored milk tart.

You should look up "Old American Diner Lingo", quite funny. That said, if you order a burger or steak with "the horns still on" it means rare. Personally, I'm a medium rare guy.

If you can time it, definitely go when there is a state fair. You'll have many other neat and crazy food options in addition to what is already available, and it is is blast. It is a smaller version of a theme park as well, so there will be rides and attractions. If you can't manage that, then you should try to go to a real Texas rodeo while you are here. They have huge pro rodeos, but a person can almost always find smaller rodeos that aren't as big and intimidating. They also have some good "fair" and novelty foods, plus great souvenirs. You'll also have total access to all the other reasons you planned your visit to begin with. Texas is a pretty massive place.

Texas is a great place to visit, so good choice there. I'm from about 660 miles (or 1062 km) due north but I've made it down there more than a few times, mostly around San Antonio and Dallas (and granted that does seem far, but we *do* share the same time zone, which is saying something here lol). Lots of great food and fascinating history, given that Texas used to be its own country, and before that, was part of the Spanish colonial empire.

I’m medium/medium-rare on steak. Basically, I want it cooked enough where it isn’t chewy. I find if it’s too rare, it hasn’t tightened and the fat hasn’t rendered. You can’t take a solid bite. As for key lime pie, key limes are a small lime, but they pretty much taste the same. It’s like a firm custard. Almost a cheesecake consistency. It has sugar to balance it, but it’s tart from the line. There is usually some kind of whipped cream on top or a thin layer of it. Graham cracker crust. It’s really good. To be fair, though, I wouldn’t kick cheesecake with raspberry sauce or pecan pie with vanilla icecream out of bed for eating cookies, either.🤣🤣🤣

Since you will be in Austin, you must stop by a few live music venues, it's what the town is known for. As for BBQ, just ask the locals when you arrive, there are at least a dozen great BBQ joints in any major Texas city. In Houston and Dallas, we also have a great Viet and Korean food scene. A suburb of Dallas, Arlington, has a little Saigon area off of Highway 303.

Here are some suggestions for steakhouses in Texas. San Antonio: Kirby's, Ruth's Cris, Perry's, J-Prime, Bob's, Texas Roadhouse (anywhere in the state) and Longhorn. In New Braunfels: Myron's. Don't think you can go wrong with any of those. They are on the pricier side except Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse. Those two are the economic choices. But remember; you get what you pay for! You can always Google them to get their menus too to help round down your final choice. Might make the decision easier. But I do hope you enjoy your time in Texas. I was born and raised here and will be Texan to my dying day!

The Key lime or acid lime (Citrus × aurantiifolia or C. aurantifolia) is a citrus hybrid (C. hystrix × C. medica) native to tropical Southeast Asia. It has a spherical fruit, 25-50 mm (1-2 in) in diameter. The Key lime is usually picked while it is still green, but it becomes yellow when ripe.

You will have to visit The Big Texan Steak Ranch and take the 72 0z steak challenge : 1. Entire meal must be completed in one hour. If any of the meal is not consumed (swallowed)…YOU LOSE! 2. Before the time starts, you will be allowed to cut into the steak, and take one bite. If the steak tastes good and is cooked to your satisfaction, we will start the time upon your acceptable approval. The time will not stop, and the contest is on, so make SURE before you say “yes.” 3. Once you have started you are not allowed to stand up, leave your table, or have anyone else TOUCH the meal. 4. You will be disqualified if anyone assists you in cutting, preparing or eating of your meal. This is YOUR contest. 5. You don’t have to eat the fat, but we will judge this. 6. Should you become ill, the contest is over… YOU LOSE! (Please use the container provided as necessary.) 7. You are required to pay the full amount up front; if you win we will refund 100%. 8.You must sit at a table that we assign. 9. If you do not win the steak challenge, you are welcome to take the leftovers with you. 10. No consumption or sharing of the leftovers is allowed in the restaurant once the contest is over. 11. If you fail to complete the challenge, you must pay the full $72 dollars.
