Someone started a GoFundMe for The New Zealand family they were reluctant but it worked out great. A couple of months ago I told Jono about it fr my other YT acct. but he said he wouldn't feel right asking us his subs to pitch in like that. I totally understand what he means, but it has to be done right and approach the right way. If we can do this then the Graham family could come visit the states and enjoy our culture for a bit. If any ideas how to get this done please speak up. I thought about maybe contacting the man that organized the GoFundMe for New Zealand family to see how he convinced them and got it rolling. I'm pretty sure their GoFundMe was over 12K at the end. Just saying hope we can really do this, such a great family and they really deserve it. Peace guys.

@@AC-ni4gt I'm not sure, first we would have to see if Jono and Kat would approve. And maybe Jono could. I'm not sure if they could being in Slovakia I do know the New Zealand family had to have an American host GoFundMe because they couldn't not sure if it was a GoFundMe rule or what. Just need to approach Jono the right way and ask. I guess if enough of us ask him he might consider it. I think it's a great idea. Just not sure what to do. I can't remember her name maybe Val or Valerie? that has sent them several boxes. I think she would be a great candidate to host GoFundMe.

Oh my, Jono, Kat is not only beautiful but a lovely woman. It was wonderful to have her part of the videos. I hope Kat will know she is among friends here. I must say aa someone who has lived in both Texas and a suburb of NYC, Texas, would be the ideal family vacation. There is fantastic shopping in the cities. The Galleria in Houston has all sorts of fantastic stores but an ice skating rink as well.

@@Vendrix86 thank you. There are positive and negative aspects of everywhere in world. The family is debating whether they should travel to NY or TX. I was simply tipping them off from my experiences. I have lived and traveled all over the USA and parts of the UK. I have fallen in love with everywhere I've been. Watching this family's videos, they seem to have a divided interest between two locations for different reasons, and after paying attention to their interests, Texas would probably suit them well on a budget that would allow much more diverse experiences: Ocean, lakes, desert, big cities, hill country, vineyards, wildlife, cultural diversity, and all well under the budget of NYC or California. They also mentioned Louisiana, a Texas neighbor, and east Texas celebrates the culture and cuisine of Louisiana.

Uncooked whole briskets, here in Texas, average about $35 (I was pricing them at our local H.E.B. grocery store, recently), which equals approximately 32 Euro (1 USD = .91 Euro). Smoked brisket in Texas can cost $20 - $30 per pound (1 pound = .45 kg), depending on where you buy it. Some BBQ joints are more famous than others, so price can vary due to popularity ..... Not necessarily due to how good their BBQ actually is!

What they don't eat, they can take home with them. It's very common in the USA to take home what you do not eat for leftovers later on. Cornbread can be sweet, but I prefer it not very sweet. It's good crumbled in beans, chili, stew... it's very good. You can cut it in half & add butter & eat like bread. To die for.

Texan here. Cobbler is an inside out fruit pie (peach, apple, etc). It's a different experience from a pie because you taste the "pie filling" first and the warm bits of bready crust are layered in. Always served piping hot and goes amazingly well with ice cream. The Mexican Rice is flavorful and fluffy. You'd like it. I was a bit taken back when everyone said what they'd try and only mentioned one or two. It all slaps hard, trust me. Cornbread is closet to a corn muffin, but not quite. It's extremely moist and the amount of sweetness varies greatly from recipe to recipe but there is a least a hint of it. It's served with butter and occaisionally honey and meant more as a side dish rather than a desert. Texas has a rich heritage of German immigration to certain areas of the state, some communities of which still speak a hybridized version of German that has been passed down, hence the propensity for sausage and craft beer (shiner bock). These are two of our finest exports.

That’s not free, but we also use the brisket in our chili and stew, and… you get the idea. It’s a game changer. 2. Most Europeans I know (and I lived in France and have traveled extensively) all believe that the US only has an east and west coast and nothing in between. The middle of our country has sights just as unique and amazing as the edges and every region has unique cuisine and cultural traits. 3. I didn’t care for turkey for 57 years. Three years ago, I bought a smoker and smoked my first turkey. It is now required that I smoke the turkey each thanksgiving. It is so tender and juicy that there is absolutely no comparison.

Get a good travel agent to look for the best flights to Texas with a few days layover in NYC. Maybe coming & going. For the ladies there is some very nice shopping in Texas. Some is very exclusive like in New York. I think you will get your fill of shopping in either one. Not in rural Texas but not in rural New York either.

The bread is a napkin that you eat. It is there to clean up the juices. We call that "Sopping it up" here in the south. You need the bread to "sop it up". :) Bread is not so much a part of the meal as part of keeping it clean and not wasting much. Not polite to lick the plate, but it is perfectly fine to wipe the plate with a piece of bread and then eat it.

You can also see Niagara Falls near Buffalo, Baseball Hall of Fame near Cooperstown, Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, Letchworth State Park ("the Grand Canyon of the East"), and many other state parks. We are home to the Finger Lakes which boasts a large number of amazing wineries. We have Bass Pro Shops in NY as well as Dicks which is quite similar. I’ve been to NYC for a short one day layover in the mid 90’s and it was great. It’s New York, you know? These days you could still go, but so many unfortunate, bad things are happening there as far as how the government runs it and some of the policies they enforce. I don’t know how much this would affect visitors, but I don’t want to go there right now out of principle. But hey, this might be your best chance to see it, who knows? That said, I’m TEXAN, been here for a long time, so you know what I’m going to say. I believe TEXAS is better because of the people. I’ve been all around the U.S. and to foreign countries. TEXAS is my home and the longer I live here, the more I realize just how special this place is. I will never live anywhere else. New York has the international, big city glamour and melting pot reputation that makes it so attractive, but TEXAS has a way of life that really can’t be beat. People are finding out about us and most are very pleasantly surprised at just how great we are at so many things. GOD, family, country. That’s how we operate. I don’t think NYC can make that claim. Friendly and down to earth is most of the people. We are hard to beat in several ways. It’s always fun to watch visitors preconceptions get pleasantly blown away by how different and excellent the real life experience is. Not bad. 😁👍

The New Zealand Family ate at the same place. They said they've never ate any type of meat that good. They said they may not be able to eat NZ meat ever again. Somehow they were being cheated in NZ.

Corn itself is sweet so corn bread is slightly sweet. Many will add a bit of sugar, others will add a lot of sugar. The bread there wasn't anything special. You can get it in any grocery store here. A good peach cobbler is hard to beat.

You’d all definitely love the peach cobbler. If you like apple crisp, the fresh Georgia peaches in the cobbler would not disappoint. And, I have to say Layla might be on to something with the bread. You’d be surprised. It looked like the bread was actually what we call Texas toast. Look it up. It’s buttery and sort of crispy ont the outside, but super soft on the the inside. Sometimes they toast a little Parmesan on it as well. It’s crazy how delicious Texas toast bread is. Great with meat!

Texas has numerous amazing BBQ places. This is an enormous state too. West Texas with the borders is best to avoid. I’m East Texas and I won’t go to there at this time. I used to love to visit NYC, but things have changed so much in the last few years.. do some reading before you think about going there now. I won’t go back unless things change.

So glad the family has a channel now. Looking forward to you eventually making it to the USA regardless of where you go. I highly recommend Kansas City. I am bias, but we have our own BBQ style as well as many places that do a great job of other regional styles. We also invented burnt ends, and our shopping is solid. :) If you are willing to do the work (doesn't take that long) and have a sharp knife, you may be able to buy untrimmed brisket cheaper and trim it yourself. That may not be available to you there, but is how I usually purchase it in the US and it's about half the cost. Typically here in the midwest I see 8 or 9 USD per lb trimmed for you or 3 to 5 USD untrimmed, which means you have to do it yourself. You do have to cut a KG or more of fat off of it depending on its size, but it saves you a lot of money and there are plenty of youtube vids showing you how to trim it down properly.

Cornbread is a combination of sweet and savory depending on how it’s made. Also it can be very dry or moist like a banana bread or a cake. It’s really good especially if you actually put frozen corn in it.

In regards to Kat's reference about the peach cobbler looking similar to Apple pie, there are minor similarities between the two. Though, to be fair, there's a pretty wide variety of cobblers, most of which have some type of fruit, such as blueberry, apple, or even cherry. There's also a chocolate cobbler, as well

Americans always take home what we don't eat for next days lunch or for our dogs or cats a little something special. It's very normal & the waitress/ waiters have to-go containers to put our leftovers in. Remember America has Free Refills on regular ice tea, soft drinks/Coca-Cola, coffee & etc...i always get my drink poured into a togo cup & have it filled up before i leave & usually they give u a basket of free assorted bread or biscuits like at cracker barrel or Outback bread & butter. Dallas has lots of shopping & they have terry black's there too. NYC doesn't have BBQ as good as Texas. Dallas & Houston has big expensive stores & i think Terry Black's is in a few cities in Texas and in other towns in texas / & maybe a joining states. Watch Mr H & Friends, a British family that just got home from going to texas & BBQ restaurants & YourNewZealandFamily ent to texas, California, & a few more places & ate at different restaurants & went to Disneyland in California & just got home too. See their perspectives. Congratulations on ur channel. 😂👍💜🙏

Hey, Jono, ask one of those crazy gift-sending friends of yours (like Val) to send yall a few boxes of Jiffy mix so you can make your own cornbread or cornbread muffins. Yall be good!

Smartest thing to do is what the Jolly guys did. Get a some of everything and then everyone samples it all. Bread automatically comes with bbq. This way people are able to make a sandwich with the meat. I live in Colorado and when we order bbq, we get pulled pork and pulled brisket. We use the meat on burger buns add some sauce and enjoy.

Slow cooking/ roasting/ smoking your meat keeps the juices from cooking out. That’s why bbq and smoked meat looks so moist. The trick is use a low temperature and take your time cooking it. Regular bread is for soaking up all the sauce and juices from the meat. 🤤🤤🤤

The thing about turkey is that the white meat cooks faster than the dark meat so by the time you get the thighs and drumsticks done, the breast is overcooked and dry. For Thanksgiving, my brother has a technique where he puts the turkey, breast side down, into a shallow ice bath. That gets the breast really cold so you have a fighting chance of getting it out of there before it's overcooked.
