We threw this game away came back from 10 pts down only to fail managing a 4pts lead in the last 4-5 min. Both drop goals Pollard failed to find touch and kicked the ball straight down the Irish guys throat and he drop goaled us twice

I don’t know why they persist with Ross Byrne ahead of him at OH. Yeah he can play FB and centre but an OH is what he is and the best one Leinster have maybe until Prendergast matures a little more though that could be this next season. Ross is a good player but a bit limited in the very top games.

Apart from kick, and he did that well tonight in fairness to him, what does Pollard offer the team? Ball kicked dead from kick off, wide pass at shin height to Kolbe who was clearly in the gap, dinky little chip straight into the arms of the full back to mark the ball.... We will not win if we persist with our 5 year old 2019 RWC game plan of our forwards winning penalties and Pollard kicking them. Not once did we look like scoring because our real playmaker went off with a HIA in the first couple of minutes.

I honestly felt like I'm watching a documentary in action. I'm a Saffa but I stood and admired the great rugby displayed, Frawley, the drop goal, that's something out of a late 90s heroic story, absolute clutch. I will never forget this game for the rest of my life. That moment showed me how those okes are just kids with dreams as well. Rugby is the winner in this Series.

Irish players have come in clutch with drop goals over the years … all at the death .. o Gara, sexton , Crowley .. 2 of them are in rugby’s highest scorers of all time .

Ireland always looked dangerous with ball in hand, Boks just didn't look threatening in the same way. Hats off to Ireland, they played hard and fast and deserved to win.

We can say in every game there were dodgy calls mate...the kolbe try was so marginal and there wasnt a good angle...and then ireland scored 2 tries while boks were 14....yesterday ireland were lucky to not play with 14 for the rest of the game as that croc roll was nasty and i saw a red being given for that the other day...also the last lineout where dickson gave the ball to ireland when the irish 2 definitly dummied first and then because of that the boks jumps early and that lineout led to ireland getting the first drop...if kwagga kicked the ball instead of picking it up it wouldve been a try and if kolbe caight the vall also...ireland deserved the win on the night thanks to their good 1st half and boks just not showing up in 1st half...yes the series was a draw and i have seen so really nasty comments online from irish and boks...ireland win this time and i wish both teams had their full squads because yes ireland have 5 guys missing but boks also had really key players missing like wiese, willemse, lood, kitshoff, willie(to loose your best 15 who is key to your attack is massive in the 1st minute) and mostert...moerat wasnt even brought on because i dont think rassie trusted him due to his dicipline​@@pilgrim3387

The South African fans are a credit to their team and so knowledgeable about rugby. Loved a quote elsewhere "As a Bok fan, it's heartbreaking. As a rugby fan, you've got to admire it". Loving the rivalry and delighted to see Ireland finish the season on a high. Looks like Leinster have their first choice 10 for the coming season!

To be honest I thought that New Zealand would be the only team to win a game like that with the ball in their own 22 with 90 seconds to go. Also, not many teams hold South Africa tryless. Osborne was the difference. He must've collected 20 up and unders and totally disrupted our plan to use the box kicks for territory and getting 50% possession from it. That was absolutely the best performance under high ball I have ever seen. Remarkable.

We know SA really know their rugby. Sometimes when they ship a loss the saffa online brigade start on about the ref and the TMO etc. but they’ve been pretty gracious today. I think maybe because it was such an epic two games. As everyone said it’s a pity there wasn’t a third but from an Ireland point of view I think the players will be just glad of a rest at this point.

Great commentary Tim. I watched the game in an Irish bar in Rotterdam. I'm Irish and was outnumbered by 100 to one in the bar by SA supporters. What a way to watch the match. SA supporters great fun and receptive of the Irish guy in the middle of them. Great match. When is Bevan Jackson getting a pundit spot on SA telly? Incredible composure, analysis, and eloquence straight after the game and put on the spot.

I think Ireland getting it with a try, conversions and drop goals probably deserved it rather than SA winning it with kicks alone. Great match.

This is why I love rugby and it's one of the best sports in the world. Most countries, be they win or lose nearly always respect the other team. The fans are included in this. In this insane divided world lessons can be learned from this sport.

Anytime you win by a point with a last minute drop goal is legendary.

Always impresses me how respectful Boks fans are in loses for a side who rarely lose and are shouting for blood in the build up to games

Man I could have bet my house Ireland was going to kick for the 1 point win when a few mins left. The gods were realigning after the Boks 3 1 point wins at WC. As a Boks fan, well played Ireland.

What a game. 2 heavyweight teams and it was a fantastic test match from both teams. Best two teams in the world and they have showed it over these two games.

Just left the stadium. Ireland were the better team on the day. Boks took 30 minutes to leave the locker room. Great game, great atmosphere, just a wonderful time. Ireland is just has a fantastic side. Wiskers hair between the two team but really, Ireland came down here and took a scalp. Wow

Leaving the result to one side, I must salute the Springbok fans at both matches. What a wonderful atmosphere they create supporting their country. They show such pride and heart - don't ever lose that. It makes South Africa a special place in the world of Rugby. Looking forward to the next meeting.

I could have without the constant booing whenever we were taking a penalty shot on goal. That’s bad bad form!! They need to cut out that crap as it doesn’t reflect well on their fans, team or country. The only fans that pull that crap are the Scots!

You guys just needed a proper challenge for your lads to wake up. These games are gonna be hard going forward.

Feared the worst coming into this series. No JGP, Keenan and Hansen. An emotional rollercoaster of a season, and a very long one, especially for the Leinster lads. We limped over the line in the 6 Nations. The lads looked shattered and ready for their holidays in the URC semis. But what a response. Respect for South Africa, it means a lot to get a result against the World Champions.

Munster fan and Ireland, powerful Ireland from the start,held their nerves and a great win, great stuff from you Tim 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🌹

These 2 teams could play every week and it's the rugby and mutual respect is always the winner... 2 fab games. Over the 2 games, nothing between them... Wow. Amazing game. So proud of this Irish team but also humbled by the Bok supporters. Generous in defeat and knowledgable. How many more 1 point games can South Africa produce.

Sho what a bloody good game! The Irish warriors didn't come to play and man alive did they do a fantastic job at keeping the Boks frustrated throughout the 1st half! Epic game and well done to the Irish!

We can take a huge amount from this tour. - Osborne is comfortable at international level - Conor Murray can still add value. Blade hugely surprising too. - We have decent squad depth - Doris is one hell of a player and will make a brilliant captain - We don't shit the bed when the going gets tough and we're hard to beat - English referees don't like us and SA is a horrible place to tour! (if you want to get a result that is. I'm sure it's a lovely country to visit)

Those damn Irish never know when to lose! Unbelievable grit and determination! Better team on the day, well done lads. I hope Umhlanga has plenty of Guinness to go round for the worthy victors. Gutted for the Boks, but now they know what their opponents in the RWC felt like with all those 1 point margins. They’ll dust themselves off and come back stronger. 👊🏻

Fantastic win Ireland!! You guys deserve it 100% because you started excellently, and grabbed the game by the balls at the end whenever you got a chance. Much as I wanted the Boks to win, we didn't deserve it due to spineless kicking away in the last 5-10 mins. Great rivalry, and happy to see a team like Ireland win - there's no doubt in my mind they deserve the 1-1 score for the series

Both tests had 50/50 calls and I think overall it all balanced out. Ireland pulled a "SA" on us and found a way to win. Well done boyo's--richly deserved. Travel safely back home. What a pity there isn't a third test

Most of the pundits wrote Ireland off for the second test match, but Ireland have not lost two consecutive matches under Farrell's tutelage. Even with a large amount of injured players, Ireland was able to scrape out a win.

@@nomsa06 they were certainly not sharper in every facet of the game. I thought the Irish discipline in the second half for example, was shocking. The penalty count stats back this up. This is just one example, but the stats show that the two teams were nearly identical with both teams having strengths in various departments, hence the close score. The moment of brilliance by the fly half at the end of the game was what separated the two teams on the scoreboard. You win some you lose some, it’s the nature of sport. No team wants to lose and the Boks can hold their heads up high for sure, but good on Ireland for fighting right up until the very end. A fitting end to a great series of rugby by number 1 and 2 in the world.

@@pauloputigna7857 I have to disagree there. Today wasn’t our game. We failed at our own game. No tries, pulled kicks that cost us and advantaged Ireland who are kick specialists. Their counter attack was massive. Today we simply didn’t play Bok style and we got punished for this. They were steady, especially in that first half while we simply didn’t come to the party. Second half was far better from us but Ireland just wasn’t going away. They dead locked us and we lacked a leader. There’s so much I can say, but in essence they deserved the win over us. One can tell just by those dying seconds. But also how they kept coming back after our leads. Yeeerrr today they gave us a run for our money.

@@nomsa06 regardless of the way any of us feel about anything regarding gameplan doesn’t change stats on the field and after the game. Yes we did not score tries but we kicked penalties. Tries are not the only facet of the game of rugby. You have many different layers to a game like lineouts and mauls and if infringed upon gains a penalty which you can slot over or choose to kick for touch. It’s all part of the game and if you infringe you best bet that you will be penalised for it. Once again you can feel a certain way about anything but let’s look at the stats fairly and give due where there is due. On the day there was very little separating the two sides and it took a spectacular moment by a fantastic player to come out on top. This is the beauty of sport and it’s great for the game as a whole. Now to address some of your feelings in detail. Pulled kicks is the nature of the game, you won’t always have the best day with the boot, as we saw last week with Ireland where that 1 kick in particular went our way in which we managed to convert into points as a result of a James Lowe error. However, I will acknowledge and agree to a game changing moment regarding a strange kick in today’s game, by Pollard, who made that first drop goal extremely easy for Ireland. His own goal line kick was right down the middle of the field and the Irish slotted it over for an easy 3 points. Looking at the scoreboard, well there was 1 point in it and if Ireland had not easily been allowed to slot that first drop goal well then SA supporters would be celebrating. The Irish counter attack only resulted in a single try right at the beginning and for the rest of the game, SA actually made more post contact meters with fewer carries overall. For a Bok Team who apparently didn’t play Bok style rugby, our scrums dominated significantly today (backed by stats) which was a huge improvement from last week! This has been the formula for success over a prolonged period now. However, the only point I can agree to here is the never ending hunger by Ireland to get over the line. They did it and the scoreboard shows it at the end of the day. 1 point separated the two teams and it is great for the game! Of course they gave us a run for our money as they beat us fair and square. I just don’t think that there was a tremendous amount of difference between the two sides.

Man. Congrats to Ireland. I usually hate when we lose, but I don't think the outcome of this match made it less of an amazing test match for me.

That was exciting, both games, all 4 halves. Lots of hype and talk before the test, some of it bull, turns out SA and Ireland have a lot of respect for each other, you can see it during the game between the players, and at full time, players and staff and fans, thanks so much to everyone in SA for taking such good care of the Irish fans - you are great! Hope everyone enjoys a few beers tonight, players, managment and support, and all the fans. Any SAs coming to Ireland for any reason will be taken care of well, you are especially welcome - we are closer now.

Hello Mike, I loved your Inner Guinness comment. What a game today. I played and have loved rugby all my life and our two tests were brilliant to watch. It is humbling that Sth. African rugby people see Ireland as worthy opponents. Our team's experience with the Bokke has been immense.

If that ain't the best end to test match what is. What a game,blood everywhere, injuries everywhere. 1-1 test could ask for more but my god the guts to hit two drop goals from that distance is insane. The atmosphere deserved an amazing game and it got it.
