Badmotorfinger are in my opinion the heaviest and best Soundgarden recording. They actually released two album before this one. Ultramega OK in 1988 and Louder than Love in 1989. The later recordings Superunknown and Down on the Upside had great songs but also got a lot more commercial. Badmotorfinger was their big break.. The two first was not well known

Their old stuff is good, but he had left and then rejoined the band a few years back, and the stuff they had been coming out with recently was kick-ass. I'd recommend By the Numbers or No Tomorrow. Ben Shepherd's bass is the drive of this song. Bass is played ahead and Matt Cameron's (Pearl Jam) drums follow in the timing. It's a drop chord tuning. This leaves the gaps for vocals and the guitar. Soundgarden...along with most of the grunge bands, were heavily influenced by Black Sabbath mixed in with everything.

The music industry is horrible. The artists are a small part of any project and make such a small percentage of what is made off them. Joe Bonamassa and his manager figured out how to beat the music industry and their company J&R Adventures created a label to help other artists get records made on their own terms.

While I can not speak on the actual music industry as I have no experience or knowledge of it, I can say that the rock music of the 80s was awful. The "glam rock" scene was terrible. The music was trash. When the Seattle music explosion occured it was the nail in the coffin for that trash music. Rock was reborn in the hands of strong lyricists and talented vocalists and great musicians. They freed us and I am grateful.
