I’m glad the vocals aren’t at 100% power right from the beginning. Need to start below that so Chris can increase for effect later in the song.

On xboxs you can play mp3s on a USB drive with a folder called Xbox music and play it instead of the game music. On ps4 too but I think for PC and ps5 Spotify will play that music. I have worked an mp3 playlist on ps4 and I actually own a 360 which allows for ripping CDs to then be played over the game sound track - I think it lowers when dialogue scenes happen for certain games that devs wanted this feature to mute out.

Chris Cornell put out 3 flawless albums in as many years…. “Badmotorfinger “ “Temple of the Dog” “Superunknown “……I’m not even gonna include the 1st Audioslave album cuz I wanted to focus on his early 90’s work….I still miss him all these years later 🖤😞🥶 I think he woulda grown into a Neil Young type of a figure as he got older but sadly we’ll never know

Great review. I pretty much think this whole album a masterpiece and through time this song's groove and dark tone is one of my favorite hooks among a murderer's row of deep cuts that close this album. The 2nd chorus of Chris belting "Shame, Shame, Throw yourself away. Give me little bits of more than I can take. If it sits upon your tongue or naked in your eyes, give me little bits of more than I can take, throw yourself away" over that downward spiral riff is a earworm that has bored itself deep into my brain, in a good way. It's not even my favorite song on this album, but it is definitely one I can listen to over and over again.

This one was co-written by drummer Matt Cameron along with Chris Cornell. I think the noticeable changing time signatures were intentional. They keep you from getting too comfortable with a predictable groove and also kind of 'punctuate' the lyrics. (I know you don't get into lyrics in your reviews.)

Soundgarden is/was so versatile and talented yet (relatively) underrated band. Love watching this stuff. Dave, you're surely paying attention to many right things and aspects often overlooked - if noticed at all - by maaany other reactors ( ie. time signatures, bass lines etc). Keep it up! I myself would really like to see you reacting to "Let me drown" and "Head down" from this same album. The latter is one of the great songs written by bassist Ben Shepherd. And one of my all time fav's from SG which is "Tighter & Tighter" from Down on the upside. Really looking forward to your reaction on that! That one song encapsulates so much what Soundgarden is (smart use of time signatures, great guitar and rhythm section work combined with great/amazing vocals from Chris Cornell). kzread.info/dash/bejne/p2mVmtyRka7HoMY.html But everything related to Soundgarden is cool 😁

To me the understated vocals in the beginning help draw me into the instrumental sounds without overshadowing them. Sort of like a slow burn that doesn't really ignite until midway into the song putting me into a trance before awakening me with "little bits of more than I can try". Just purely on an emotional level this really resonates with me and my personality. Not my favorite Soundgarden song of all time, but this is the best album ever made in my opinion.

I love the hall chorus sound on the recording. It’s not flash but the sound is soooo like something from a dream or long lost memory. It’s not one of their best but the feel really is great and dream like.

Omg BEST review I've ever heard. Thank you so much. I'm super excited and here's why. I study esoteric signs, symbols, word magic and numbers. I know approximately dick about music theory. Here's how you confirmed what I think of this song. This song is sung by 2 entities. The first weaker one is an old teacher. The chorus is lucifer. Shame shame throw yourself away. Give me little bits of more that I can take. (Your soul when you do bad things, tasting the shame that bows down before you and that everybody tries) When you said timing was 6/4 I laughed. 6.6.6.6.6.6. Confirmation of what we're talking about. If 4/4 is natural rhythm then the "stumbling" of the 15/ is also confirmation. We fail over and over but keep trying to get back on 4/4. So much more. Thank you so much. Ima binge your channel now.

Lucky enough to see Soundgarden three times in the 90s. Still have a soft spot for Badmotorfinger, but Superunknown goes so deep. Just keeps delivering right to the end. Loved this song right from the beginning. Proves you must listen to the great albums from start to finish 😊. Those odd time connecting bits are hard to nail on drums but add to the song.

So from what I was assuming but now seen it in the comments is that your not a lyric guy so one thing I have to add is . With some bands yes an some no, that knowing the lyrics an what the song is about , makes the song journey hit you harder when music is played an that you can then really hear what the sound means a n it just takes you man!! An for me Soundgarden is one of those bands an Chris Cornell's vocal range on top is just blow the roof off goosebumps time. But this just my opinion. How do you take request for reviews my friend?

Hey man, new to your channel and I am really enjoying it. Liked and subscribed, all that good stuff but I am confused. You've played in bands and been a fan of music for years, I'm assuming, so how is it even possible you haven't heard some of these songs? I'm not saying you're lying, please don't take it that way, I just am trying to understand how a guy with your musical acumen would not have listened to any of Soundgarden's albums or any of the other popular 90's alternative artists? As I said, I like your content and respect the way you're building your channel, just looking for a little clarification. Thanks man. Oh, and you may want to check out Audioslave's Live debut on Letterman. Link attached kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqiMlbqhYcyWcZs.html

In the 90's I avoided "grunge" bands like the plague. So I intentionally avoided listening to bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc. I was really into Prog and Jazz from 1990 - 2004, and that's all I really listened to during that time (except for KISS and Motorhead, my guilty pleasures at the time).

If I’m being honest, this isn’t one of my favorite Soundgarden songs, either from that album or otherwise. But of course that’s me. This is a deep cut, for sure. I like hearing Chris singing in his lower, baritone range, tho of course his high, tenor screams are where his vocal thunder comes in. Still, it’s not a generic, predictable rock tune, and it’s basically well-crafted. All good points. **Side Note: this has nothing to do with the track, and maybe this isn’t the place to mention it, but this really kick-ass single was just released by former Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss feat. Alissa from Arch Enemy on guest vocals. The song is called “The Wolf You Feed” and in my opinion it rocks. I don’t mean to take away from Soundgarden AT ALL, just wanted to somehow mention the release.
