Excellent comparison. Seems to me that one of each should be owned and played for different repertoire. Now I personally think for the upper register, spruce steals the show in terms of clarity and and openness. And as mentioned, bass region, I love the cedar. I reiterate - PLAY BOTH! 😂

Spruce is the sound I like. If performing you can amplify it maybe as the cedar was louder for some reason.

Each model produce thypical sound, spurs with a clear treeble, cedar with a deep bass. Greeting from Toraja, Indonesia.

Each one affords an advantage.. I would use a spruce for large venues and when I am playing with other musicians. This will the guitar to cut through the mid range and be heard better without the tricky volume setting getting too raunchy. Cedar for small venues and solo guitar

Spruce for me. Its tone is clearer, brighter, more defined. Cedar sounds kinda muffled. But in the end it's the musician that shapes the tone, not the instrument.

exactly, cedar can be played to sound more bright as well. Especially depends on the way the player plucks the strings.

Geralmente prefiro ouvir o Cedro, mas nesse caso achei mais bonito o som do Spruce, talvez a construção tradicional do tampo em cedro seja mais natural e agrade mais.

I like both. End of story, except that I only have a Cedar guitar but am ordering a Spruce tomorrow... Interesting to note that John Williams plays cedar and Julian Bream, Spuce. Listen to their duets.. They work great together.. I also play electric and have a Stratocaster but I also have a Les Paul. I use and enjoy both in different situations... I'll do much the same when I get the Spruce classical in conjuction with the Cedar. Nuff said...

Psychological or not, I found cedar very different and much more interesting to my taste. Love the bass and there's a also a vivid difference on high frequencies. Cedar is usually recognized for its accent on the bass but, in this case, it seems the double top brought the treble alive too. On the criticism about the youtube audio, of course it's not the same to the live sound, but it's perfectly possible to hear the difference. Above all considerations about the soundboard, the interpreter is outstanding. All my respect and congratulations. She plays like an angel.

The highs seem to just hug the note, if that makes sense. They push it out with the spruce top. I hear exactly what you do, I think. I normally don't care for the "fuzzy" nature of cedar, but the double-top really gives it more dynamics and presence.

Perhaps enough time with either, and the player could push the instrument one way or another. Generally as has been said, spruce is cleaner and clearer, cedar warmer and fuller. Ultimately depending on the music you may want either of these qualities.

First, a phenomenal musician, wow! What is a "double top"? Also, how did you make the cedar top one sound so brilliant? What kind of strings are you using? Also, is it apropos to use a classical guitar to sing and play pop and folk music. I'm trying to find musicians here on KZread that do. I have arthritis so nylon string is the way I have to go and really like nylon string anyways. Some say I play like a classical guitarist when I sing, yet I don't like strumming and always finger pick, so maybe that's why. My cedar top classical guitar, a Takamine No.10 with a cedar top from 1986 is still coming in the mail. Has anyone heard of those? I bought it because of the name, history, materials... but feel somehow it's going to be beautiful.

There’s certainly something very special with both, but I lean towards the spruce. Nice hearing a guitarist play with flesh rather than nails. It’s a rarity.

It's a clear difference, the double top soundboard, is a lighter soundboard, that's why is more reactive soundboard. More volume, more reverberation, more efficient soundboard to move the internal air

How could someone analyze and much less compare a sound which is so faraway from the real sound of the guitar? I know how a classical guitar sounds like. Electronic recording and amplification creates a totally different sound. Very few electronic recordings are successful in preserving enough of the natural sound of the instruments, and plucked strings instruments seem to suffer the most.
