Oils are in most of the products we use and for me adding more oil/heavy butters during styling was overkill. Anywho, happy learning everyone. TFS!!

    Personally, I think hair typing, especially for 4C Queens, is more about relating to another person than anything else. We all value healthy hair, yes. But we would all be lying to ourselves if we said hair “type” didn’t matter. Maybe not in the health component of a natural hair journey, but in other ways most definitely.

    When I used the mane choice custard I pair it with the miss Jackie’s gel to get the extra hold. That’s how the stylist did it in my hair and that’s how she gets the extra hold. So maybe you can try it that way and see if that makes a difference.

    Truth be told you wouldn’t have to do this process of you feel as if your curls are performing at full potential and aren’t drying out or looking dehydrated even after styling. For me I didn’t realize that my “frizzy pattern” was actually just dehydrated hair that was repealing water and I already had low porosity hair so doing the detox would be if you found it necessary for your journey🤗

    Do you experience breakage? I'm trying to figure out if it's the oils in my leave-in causing it. I also don't know what's considered a "normal" amount in a wash day 😩

  • @brittany.381

    @brittany.381

    If your hair isn't in need of a trim or hydration and if you're not vitamin deficient, your breakage could be due to protein overload. Clarify your hair and check the ingredients list of your products. They might contain "big" proteins or just a high amount of protein. Also check for products that might act the same as protein in your hair such as aloe vera, coconut oil.

    Prior to following Black Girl Curls' method, I was dealing with tons of breakage. It's minimal now (I'm not looking at an army of baby coils) although my ends are in fact damaged and need to be cut off.

  • @TruleyTalentedBeauty

    So I actually noticed I started experiencing breakage when I went without washing my hair for so long. Even though my hair has been healthy and I haven’t been overloading it with products manipulating it or using any chemicals. So it can be a number of things protein deficiency causes breakage and literal dehydration causes breakage. So it could be that your hair isn’t actually getting the hydration that it needs and is breaking from dehydration or it’s too week and might need a protein treatment to help build back the cuticle.
