Soo Line 2719 Steam Train
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Soo Line 4-6-2 2719 leads a seven-car dinner train from Duluth, MN to Palmers in the late afternoon. This trip was operated in part by the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. This was what would later turn out to be the last year that 2719 has run.
This was filmed on May 11, 2013. Earlier in the day, the Milwaukee Road 261 arrived for an overnight trip from Minneapolis to Duluth. The skytop-lounge "Cedar Rapids" and three full-length domes were provided from the 261 train.

Great video. 2719 was a great engine. It was another operating Soo Line steam engine. It's kinda sad that it no longer operates anymore. But it will always be remembered by those people the work at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum/North Shore Scenic Railroad, and to the people who rode behind this engine.

Good news for the 2719 as the Eau Claire City Council voted to sell the locomotive back to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum for $8 on 10/22/19. This shall give it hope to run again.
Great chase! May 2719 soon return to steam!

What happened to the 2719?

Long story short, the city that owns her wants her back to put on static display, google Trains Magazine Soo Line 2719 and you should find some articles regarding the situation.

Well the Eau Claire City Council decided to sell the locomotive back to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum for $8, so it now belongs to the museum.

Well the reason she stopped running is that her boiler certificate expired. They plan to switch usage back and forth between 2719 and D&NE 28 according to the 15 year boiler certificate lengths for each loco
Was the dining car pulled by steam train 2719
Were is she now?

It's still at Duluth. It hasn't left the museum since it went down.
It’s too bad that the 2719 isn’t running anymore :(

The museum hopes to rebuild 2719 sometime before the 28 goes down, but that's not for another decade

2719's bell sounds just like southern 630's bell
2007-2013
While I do prefer 1003 when it comes to Soo Line steam, 2719 is still an interesting pacific nevertheless, and I'm glad she'll get to run again once 332/28 goes out of service a decade from now.
