As long as your device doesn't stick it's notch into your videos etc. I don't really mind it. Luckily there seems to be only one manufacturer who thought that would be a *great* idea.

If u get the 6GB RAM variant yes, 4GB RAM is pure cancer, my Galaxy s9 has been suffering from lagginess due to lack of RAM, or maybe my usage is just pure cancer?

IDK, but it run smooths all the time, but only lags when I heavy tasking or been using it for days without a restart, Samsung android system has really improved a lot compared to the past, I had been using Sony Mobile for years, and making the jump over Samsung oni recent year, the software on samsung really unable to compete with sony in terms of stability, amounts of bugs and speed of update. Sony is just felt and works better on me, so my next phone I probably go back to Sony haha, but now Sony kept on releasing 4GB RAM smartphone, so I might just wait for them to release 6GB RAM smartphone as their standard line up then only I make the change.

Sean Herron I haven't been following Sony for since their z1,z2 ....Why are they not making their flagship phones like those now?? Z1 and z2 were made of glass and look premium....what happened??

Honestly, I don't think that Sony as as company has been focused on the smartphone industry. With margins getting smaller and smaller across the board. They have been pursuing other industries. Their marketshare in the smartphone market has been progressively shrinking over the last couple years. Their phone sales have dropped by ~37% year over year. Up until the XZ3 they have been sticking to that old big top and bottom bezel signature look. While the high end market has been increasingly focus on very low screen too body ratios and other more trendy designs. The average consumer cares little about specs, they just want a phone that works looks new. Not to mention that they haven't been pricing any of their phones competitively and with the emergence of these new Chinese brands like Huwawei, Oppo and their various subsidiaries they are being beat in pricing on the mid-range and beat hardware wise in the high end market. I also don't think that the 4k screen on the XZ1 and XZ2 Premium gave them the competitive advantage they thought it would and they bet pretty hard on it. So despite a small extremely passionate fanbase the only noteable company with less marketshare than them is HTC. So the TL;DR version is that with the lackluster sales of the XZ2 and XZ2 Premium they are trying to create a design that shows that they are finally selling a phone that follows current trends, to hopefully attract some new interest in Sony smartphones. Sorry for the insanely long response, I'm really into smartphones. I hope I at least partially answered your question.

Sean Herron yes it did....I don't know after looking at xz2 I could not recognise it as a flagship phone....It just does not look as good as z2,z3 .....Specs are probably good...But the look of seems like a downgrade from their previous z series

Eben Noble yeah I'm pretty sure they had to sacrifice a lot in the design department to get that 4K HDR screen and that powerful vibration module that compliments the sound from the speakers. The XZ2 Premium is one of the only smartphones that weights over half a pound(236grams). I think it is the heaviest flagship. It's still a glass backed phone though. But reviewers have consistantly complained about the design. Both the Iook and the impracticality. Apparently it is an extremely slippery phone because of the curved glass back. Unless it's on a 100% perfectly flat surface it will slide.

Really appreciate Sony didn't go down the notch road. I don't mind much of the top and bottom bezels, and that curved display makes it extra oomphh! Nice..

God this phone would be epic if it came in the size of the xz1 compact with the wider aspect ratio and maybe hd plus instead with motion interperlation 😍

I'm sure there'll be a compact version of this phone anyway. The XZ2 compact was really compelling, but I didn't like that Plastic back though, although it was a more premium plastic.

I doubt there will be a smaller XZ3. I get this feeling that the compact flagships will only release once a year. Granted, there’s no good reason to do this phone when you just did the XZ2 a few months ago and the XZ2 Premium LAST month. I just have this feeling XZ3 Compact will get skipped.

The really surprising thing should be that Sony launched the XZ2 Premium between MWC and IFA

Wow. There a lot of tech youtuber today but the voice of Jaime Rivera is nostalgic. Reminds me of HTC One m7 to m8 era.

Z3 looks like an impressive alternative to the new iPhones should they go over what I consider a reasonable price point. Hopefully a lot of that bloatware can be removed.

Most likely moving back to a Sony phone next year hopefully a XZ3 premium since they are finally using OLED, for now my Note 9 will do just fine. XZ3 definitely a elegant looking phone and Red and forest green colour are beautiful.

Nice. I'm glad to see Sony step up their game I've had a couple of Sony phones in the past starting with the Xperia Z Ultra then few years later had a Z5 then a XA Ultra (the XA Ultra was not very good imo) but I'm glad they've kept up with the times and changed their design language no longer are they boring rectangles but something more eye catching I'm not really feeling the placement of the fingerprint sensor though it looks a little far too down imo but it might be better in person. I'm currently running a S8+ from last year I'm due an upgrade soon so this might be my new flagship. It's funny how Sony have been doing waterproofing and dust resistance since 2012 and just in the past few years everyone has that same feature lol.

Seems like it's a quality build, but for the $$ would miss a wide angle + disagree w 1:05 that fingerprint sensor is WAY too low. Some ppl want to mount it in a car or use a ring/popsocket thingy. Also thumbs up for having some integrity and not following the spineless notched clones

I like it. Nice screen, no notch, dual speakers that sound great, a genuine camera button, not Bixby. I like it. Great job Sony. Beautiful design matched with high quality. I’m currently rocking the XZ2 and it’s no slouch either. It is a bit on the heavy side (which I do like. I know its in my pocket or bag) and the rounded back can be a little annoying, but overall very nice phone.

Will you be doing a full review in the XZ3? I feel that this is the first phone in quite while from Sony that’s worth a full review

@@wakaflockaproject Princing of Sony phones never matters because the actual asking price will drop like free fall. I bought a Taiwanese XZ1 dual at the end of November last year, less than 3 months after its launch. I paid just 450 Euro including shipping and customs and I got Quick charging cable and charger out of the box.

Sony will release more and more great phones coming years, every year must have new developments every year must have latest invention. But I must say this XZ3 with AI Side Sense and Smart Capture and upgrade the rear and front camera and refine the volume settings louder 20% from last generation is a wonderful phone!

Can we just get this Verizon certified and I'm on board. GSM carriers in the US are trash. Sitting on my XZ Premium that I absolutely love. My favorite phone by far, haven't loved a phone this much since HTC One M8. AT&T service on the other hand I can do without, not as bad as T-Mobile but holy hell these 2 have a lot of catching up to do to even get on Verizon level.

I have never bought one, but everytime I am looking for a phone an Eperia makes the final 2 or 3 options. They are beautiful, great design, amazing camera, but for some reason it is never my choice.

Can you review XZ3 and WH1000XM3?

Sony has been making great phones for years. Complaints people had? Bezels omg bezels. Sony phones are built well, updates come quicker than any Samsung device. Now I'll just wait until they put that new gorilla glass on it, then I'll upgrade from my xz premium. I'm guessing Xz3 Premium

Kudos for Sony for staying out of notch territory. With headphone jack & front facing speaker, this will be interesting phone besides note 9. But I just find it stupid for releasing phone with android pie but still retain that 3 button. At least give users option to toggle between softkey & slider.

For a company pushing so hard for hi-fi audio why the hell did they remove the headphone jack? I would've bought one but I guess not.

This would have been the perfect device in my opinion *if* it had a headphone jack and a lower price tag.

BTW Jaime, the phones design wasn't bad on the way your describing it, in fact, it was more beautiful your than your iPhone and it's copy cats. Sony was trying to do new thing, even to not look like the other phones, now some how it looks a completely a clone. I think no one believes you when your saying a design of the XZ2 was bad when the others are more awful than others with zero creativity

Mark Stefanac first the phone have changed for being original. Second of all the iPhone doesn't good rounds, and it's same rounds since of the iPhone 6. Thirdly, Sony doesn't look buffled or anything, it made a curve in the back so the phone sits your palm of your hand because your hand are curved so you can't hold a flat one and a lot of people who thought that being ugly, saw the phone took it and it felt incredible. The s8/s8+ and the note 8 are different, the note is flatter than those two. The S series and the note series only have the same design that is changing by tweaking and bringing small bezels. Sony's approach is better with the curved back, it brought something else with curved display even some said in ifa the it's better looking than the S series. The S10 could change big things but we will see. I'm a technolgiest more than being a fan. And I say it how the design is. Sony is more innovativing than the others here and yes they did the Samsung edge style and that's ok since everyone is taking a stupid notch that harms from than it benefits. Also the Nokia 8 Sirocco has the edge style. Sony is changing and doing more beautiful things and the phone is beautiful. Go try it and hold it and you will see the difference. Actually the phones design is like the other phones with the rounded corners, so if you say ugly, your saying to the all the phones including your p20 pro so yeah. And still if you see the phone is ugly then, I guess your brain did an accident.

Nothing is ever created to be ugly I don't even know why such word exists in the dictionary, when it pretty much can't be used in any case The XZ3's design is all about a balance between practicality and aesthetic People always want gorgeous-looking devices only and forget about the practical use, and that's what most manufacturers do. But for us wise users, we want at least a balance of the two, and Sony does that. And you can't tell them to do what others are also doing just because it is the new trend. If anything, Sony didn't force other OEMs to make water resistant smartphones when they were making them ahead of time.
