Sony phones have a pretty good trackrecord here (and TechLineHD isn't the only one rating the XZ2 so high in this respect), even though they had some phones that dropped the ball in this respect (as in that the were just average). Or maybe Sony just didn't care because consumers generally don't care when they pick out a phone.

This phone is a beast! I'm really impressed with the battery life! Super Slow Motion can be recorder only with the slow part but for 0.2 seconds if I'm not mistaken. And this year, it seems like Sony decided to go for a bit more noise with their pictures, making it better for details preservation (I kinda like that instead of a flat soft image).

Liion B yeah the camera quality is super good and even better in low light comparing to Xz premium

Lcd won't burn static images in, and it's more visible in daylight. Bezels allow a dedicated grab point on the front side, otherwise you may download, like, or delete a file by accident when touching the interface area.

That battery is insane ! S9 have half SoT of XZ2, i love my xz premium, but ill upgrade to another sony device next year ! :) Nice review !

Would have been the best android flagship yet, only if they placed the fingerprint sensor at the right place (power button). Rear mounted sensor is non-existent when your phone is on surface like desk/ charging pad.

T L yea,1st time i use xperia xz2 just the fingerprint place are not getting usually the 1st time, but long time you use will get usually as well Btw xperia xz2 is a best phone i ever get 😉😉😉

I bought xz2 compact in 2023. Its really good experience and I really like its compact size .

Please can you possibly list phones with Sony facing camera? Example Redmi note 4x among others.

SONY ships it's flagships with the latest fast chargers. In the UK my XZPREMIUM (2017) came with Qualcomm's quick charger 3 or 4.0 I don't remember which but I know it really depends on region.

yes with a third party app but only when you scrolling within the device. But if open the internet browser, the notch will return because the app is only designed to work within the phone

I love the slow motion, and the color. But the power button is "SUCKS" Because when mount on car. Can't use magnet mounter, when car bumped, it will drop, because it's heavy. And you can't use the grap holder, because the power button. So you can't use it for car navigation

Does it have touch screen issues while playing pubg?

I went to Sony Center, and I saw this..omy Godddd it's awesome...the design is gorgeous and better than before, and what make it more better it's camera is improved. It's not that thick as people says...it's just easy to hold on

Of course not! Airplane mode was used only to film this video so I won't get any calls or messages during the shoot. I used the phone with 2 SIMs almost all the time. Otherwise, it would not be fair.

Sony has to improve a lot in low light areas .

Great review as always, Linus. This does look like a nice phone. My main reason for leaving Sony was that previous flagships were too similar to the Sony phone I had at the time so the new design is welcome. With that said, a missing phone jack is a deal breaker for me.

The included adapter adds no bulk to the headphones. I do not understand the difference between a 3.5mm hole and a Type C input.

Rene Pedroso It's not the matter of bulk that makes it a deal breaker, the issue is not being able to charge the phone and use headphones at the same time while you're out and about.

Sony and htc finally became one. Always great phones, best optimized, smooth and made, but always too much bezels, always late in new stuff and design underwhelming. And 2 best 3.5 jacks in the world besides LG V series are gonne now. I don't think this Sony U12 will save it's maker. Or that htc's U12 will save htc. Especially for asked price.

It is a large sensor, specifically at 1/2.3" (vs 1/2.55" on Samsung and 1/3.06" on Apple and LG) so f2.0 lens on this sensor collects the same amount of light as f1.6 on, say LG V30.

Yeah. They will use the dual camera sensors they have teased at MWC 2018 when unveiling this Xperia XZ2 and its little brother, XZ2 Compactn

I love this Phone so much. It is Really quality.

The XZ2 does have a 6GB ram variant though..

the 4k sample looked jittery, I'm gonna stick with the LG V30 for a while.

F/2.0 is a perfect middleground for daylight and low light shots. Go higher and you get unimpressive low light pictures. Go lower and you get unimpressive daylight pictures. Unless they have variable aperture like the Galaxy S9/S9+, f/2.0 isn't bad at all by any means. The Pixel XL camera is still amazing by today's standards, and like Sony, it only has f/2.0 lens and no OIS.

Sony phones drop prices quite quickly. You can now have the XZ1 for $500 compared to $700 to $800 at its initial price.

Looks very solid and premium. Great to finally see Sony phones redesigned into something more modern looking. At $800 just too expensive though, especially with no headphone jack, duel speakers, hifi dac, Quad HD screen, or wireless charging. Still it looks great.

Headphone jack actually interferes with audio etc when the phone is wet, so removing this does 3 things. 1, no interrupted audio during video recording, 2, you don't have to blow water out from the port when out of water which means you won't hear your speakers nor will the internal Mic work, and 3, no chance of leak through the "convenience" of having an old jack. I've had xperia x1, x10, arc, T, Z, Z1, Z5, x performance and now the xz2, this one doesn't over heat and doesn't have the issue listed above.

It's 2160 X 1080 and 16.9 aspect ratio.

No headphone jack = not buying.

Front side design is outdated and boring. Big frames top and bottom. Very bad design and it seems that sony doesn't care much about taste. So the phone lost its wow factor and first impression is negative. Sacked.
