it’s sounds way better than iPods and need iem or hi res headphones to get proper output. And in terms of battery it’s Upto 44 hours when sound volume under 80% and no audio enhancement turned on. iPods or any flagship smartphones never match with it’s sound.

Great review. I mostly agree with everything you have said with only a few exceptions. amazing as the video is long and you went into quite some depth. I don't think the battery life with Bluetooth is 'garbage' but it is definitely not 30 hours. I love this player. Love it Love it Love it! It does more than I wanted and does it all very well. I had the NW-A105 but it didn't have a good battery life at all so it had to go back. It is exactly as you said. It is an underpowered phone with no phone. To make it work well they would have needed a much bigger battery. This might have made the device somewhat bigger etc. I think the NW-A55 is great and I appreciate your video very much!! Thanks.

Hello. Thanks for your review. I hope you can help me. I just got this player. There's a lot more to it to learn that all my other DAPs. But there is one problem I'm having that I've never had with any other DAP. When I turn it on and connect my Bluetooth earbuds they always come on at full volume. They never come on at the volume I was listening to them as all my other DAPs do. Sometimes I can't even lower the volume at all and I have to shut it down and turn it back on. Do you know why it does this and what setting I need to prevent this? Because there's nothing in the manual about it. It seems more like the volume control is set up to use on the wired headphones. Thank you.

I have 3 questions: 1st Question: Can I insert the songs in folders and subfolders on the memory card? -yes. the card can be managed with as many folders and sub folder as you wish 2nd Question: During random play, does the device play between folders, that is, play a song in a folder, then another folder, or play only within the folder? -now this is where it gets kind of tricky. i could be wrong, but from my vantage point the player categorizes files by id3 tags. so if i have say a folder "the beatles" and then a sub folder "abbey road" "white album" "let it be" and "rubber soul" but in id3 tags, all 4 albums, all the tracks within are all labled "beatles awesome tracks" the player will have artist as "the beatles" and then just 1 album as "beatles awesome tracks" and ther will only be that 1 album, regardless of how many folders are on my card or device. thats why it took me dang near 2 weeks to port everyrhing over from my ipod, because once i imported all my albums, i then had to go through the device and note how the albums appeared while navigating, and then go into the files and update id3 tags to make navigation work how it should work. 3rd Question: How would the audio quality be compared to smartphones, connecting it to a stereo receiver via p2 / RCA cable? -if your phone only has digital out via usb (new iphone, new samsung, etc) it should sound more natural coming over the analog output. if your phone has analog, probably not much of a difference. but this device basically will play like evry single flavor of audio imaginable... most phones will not, so thats a plus. but that comes down to just how sensitive your hearing is. my wife wouldnt tell a difference at all. :P

(1) Get the camera closer to the Walkman so we can read the text on the screen. (2) Organize the way you present the features of the Walkman and don't just bounce around. (3) Keep the camera on the Walkman more so we can stay focused on what you are talking about. I thank you for the effort in putting together this video even though I could not get a lot from it. Thanks!

that works too. i started this in the mp3 cd days, and you only had a finite number of characters your in dash player would display when navigating folders. so an album like "roadside monument - eight hours away from being a man" those extra 2 characters ended up being cut.

I just got one and love the Hi-Res and clear audio sound, way better sound quality than any other DAP. Just to throw out there, my last DAP was an iPod 4Gen, which was a tiny little thing, and the battery lasted about 15hrs. There's no way the battery on this Walkman is worse than the iPod...I think 40hrs on this Walkman is phenomenal, then again I haven't used the Bluetooth yet.

Also, I still have an iPod in my arsenal (super lightweight Nano / Bluetooth earbuds are great while running!) and I use iSyncr to sync between my Android phone and my iTunes account. Can I continue to use iTunes to manage my library and sync the A55 to it periodically? I don't add that much new stuff these days (maybe 50-75 tracks per year), so wouldn't be a frequent thing.... somewhat. sort of. it appears that if i change the artwork or make some minor changes, it will overwrite existing files on the system when i choose sync. when yo plug in the device, the media center app will detect what has changed, and give you a list of tracks that are different on your pc, than on your device, and in most cases overwrite them. however. if you modify anything at all about the album name, band name, or song name, it seems to me like it will add that as an additional song, because now it shows as a seperate track. so if you are modifying that type of stuff, you would need to manually delete the track/album/band folder, and then resync. its not entirely smart. lol

To load album art to all of the tracks ( as opposed to doing it one at a time ), select album ( not artist. The when you click on the album you want it will pop and you will see a series of three dots next to the album title. Click on the three dots ( an ellipse ) and you will get a box that ops up with various sections. Select properties and then you will be able to follow the steps to access album art. For me ITunes is actually just as bad - yes I am a long time apple user. Secondly you said that the NW-A55 has'garbage battery life', evidently you have not reviewed many DAPs. It has the best battery life of pretty much any DAP on the market. You compare it to your Ipod Classic which had a 3000mAh battery and was a brick compared to the 750mAh (one 1/4 of the size) of the NW-A55.

I'm using an NW-A45, which the 55 replaces, and I'm using a 1TB card in it. Make sure it is SanDisk though if you try a 1TB as only SanDisk makes authentic cards. With that said I would assume 512 GB would work in the 55 if a TB works in the 45. Works perfect too, I have the 1 TB card filled up, takes about 3 minutes to create the database if the card is unmounted.

I still have mine. However I feel like my Ipod is going to die soon since the power button doesn't work anymore. I need a replacement and this looks promising.

So you got a dsd thriller album but didn't bother to listen, much less listen through German headphones like beyer, shennh, or akg. DO me a favor... Leave audio reviews to people who know about it.

    a) it's a cheap consumer mp3 player, not the hubble space telescope. b) screw you :)
