Now understand why although Sony and Alpha Camera were in same company but still have barrier between it..They can't fully adapt the Alpha technology in Xperia camera because deffrent department..but with the newest Xperia 1 seems they found a positive progress because the barrier between Mobile division and Imagine were slowly lose since Mobile division were under Imagine division now...

Hello Everyone, I d like to ask one question about the Sony VENICE Camera. If I shoot RAW 16 bit (RAW o OXCN ST) on the AXSM and ProRess HD on the SxS, can I transcodes(to save time) the file from Prores HD to DNxHD for avid being sure that those files will relink with the original 4k RAW footage? Thanks

PS: you said capacitive instead of CAPTIVE bolts, don't think an Allen bolt is a capacitor??

Yes, apologies. It has been pointed to us prior. Bobby meant captive bolts.

Sony have added a new base ISO of 2500 since initial announcement. This feature will be added in Firmware 2.0 due in August 2018. The camera is currently available for sale and in stock with us.

Interesting. But how can they adjust the base ISO of the sensor via firmware? Wont the dynamic range be impacted by such a software based feature?

Likely it is a dual sensor design just like say the Varicam LT is? But took some extra work to enable this, so they started shipping it beforehand

I don't feel like that's a bad thing tho. It closely resembles a filmstock workflow in terms of sensitivity. For how bright modern lights are you could get away with 250 for 90% of the shoots. And in 800 ISO is very clean. Similar to Alexa's native of 800 so you don't lose anything really other then an even cleaner native. And yes it has similar similar ISO performance on 500 and 2500 (tho a bit of a different design.)

I think the HDC-4300, HDC-P43, UHK-430 Unicam XE, are probably better choices than this.

Why are you comparing television broadcast cameras to a cinema camera? They're apples and oranges.

@@petrub27 They are certainly comparable. Because a television broadcast camera can have a 100x zoom lens with 2x extender (total range of 200x or greater zoom is possible) that covers the full image area of the sensor, not to mention they use 3 2/3" chips (similar size to Ultra 16 mm film frame size), situated behind a series of dichroic optical prisms to split the incoming light into separate bands of red, green, and blue for each corresponding sensor--a superior way to render RGB images with no interpolation compared to the Bayer method used by this and many other cameras. The UHD (3840x2160) sensors in these broadcast cameras can resolve 200 line pairs per millimeter, as do the UHD lenses designed for them; I've yet to see a Super 35 mm lens with a zoom range exceeding 20x in addition to a 1.5x extender (total range of 30x zoom); I've also yet to see any Super 35 mm lenses capable of resolving 200 line-pairs per millimeter all throughout the zoom range. You will never get that with this camera or the lenses available for it, without using a massive adapter to allow a B4-mount 2/3" format lens for a 9.6 mm x 5.4 mm sensor to work with a VistaVision-sized (36 x 24 mm) sensor, which despite its smaller image circle would probably out-resolve what this camera sensor is capable of. Although it is nicer than the F55 at least, and has that removable optical head block that allows for 3D stereoscopic rigs and remote shooting in hard to reach places, it has yet to touch those new UHD 3-chip broadcast television cameras or the F65 or even the F35 when it comes down to interpolation of the final output imagery.
