At the Bench: The Modularity of the Sony VENICE
Ғылым және технология
Geoff Smith recently had a chance to work with one of our camera service technicians to take a closer look at all of the field-serviceable aspects of Sony's popular VENICE full format (full frame) cinema camera.
In the above video, we take a look at common tasks such as removing the PL-mount "shroud" on the VENICE, exposing the locking E-mount behind it, as well as other aspects of the camera's modularity and flexibility. Though AbelCine is a factory-trained and authorized Sony Certified Professional Repair Facility, performing all levels of maintenance and repair including warranty service, what's shown in the video is all fair game for owner/operators, rental technicians, and other equipment managers as far as preparing the camera to work or performing routine maintenance and cleaning.

Is the Venice top handle nato compatible? Or is it its own proprietary slot design?

Hi Zach, to give a non-trollish answer lol, it does appear to be proprietary dovetail. Does not appear that other Natos will work. Its an awesome system. But I'll let you know if I hear anything else is compatible. .

Victor Avila thanks man. That’s what I thought but couldn’t find any documentation online regarding it. Agreed it’s a great design, something I hope to see in more cameras in the future. Thanks again.

Looks like Victor already replied, but yes, it is a proprietary design that isn't compatible with NATO rail style accessories.
I want one but I don't have the money even to rent this for an hour
AHHH! He's left the sensor resting on the heat sink knocking out the flange focus distance. I feel sick!
