Every 3rd person game should go to VR... Would sell enough to fund any first person VR port of any existing games and profit on top of both.

Hey, thanks for the shoutout, man! Lots of interesting stuff going on. First the short stuff. I'll never buy the Apple headset, but I'm excited to see what it does for VR. Hopefully it's a big success for them. I doubt it'll have traditional controllers, so any gaming component will likely be hand/body tracking based. I'm skeptical about how effective that'll be, but who knows? Maybe they'll be the company to nail it. That financing plan by Bigscreen for the Beyond is a great move. Anything to make VR more affordable could help a lot. I've been wondering why Sony doesn't offer PSVR 2 at a significant discount if you sign up for a few years of PS+ premium. It's the model that works for cell-phones, so I don't understand why we haven't gotten it for VR yet. As for Sony, I think they need a mix of types of VR games. Hybrid games definitely need to be a thing. Hopefully we'll see some first party stuff (Ratchet and Returnal would both be great, as would The Last of Us Remastered, and upcoming new flat games like Astrobot and Twisted Metal sequels, and new hybrid IPs) and third party stuff (Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming, Ace Combat 8 is probably coming as well, would love to get VR support in the new Armored Core). Beyond that, I hope Sony is working on at least one more spinoff game. Horizon Call of the Mountain got somewhat lukewarm reviews, but the concept is solid. Take assets from a recent or upcoming flat game, then use and supplement those assets to make a triple-A VR game for cheaper than making a game from scratch. All those possible hybrid games could be getting spinoffs instead, and other prime candidate franchises would include God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, or Uncharted. Honestly I doubt we'll see any first-party unique-to-VR games from Sony that AREN'T spinoffs. The investment just isn't worth it with the size of the install base, especially when you can get more bang for your buck making hybrids and spinoffs. Similarly, I personally doubt they're porting any of their PSVR 1 games. All the ports on PSVR 2 so far have been from PC or Quest 2 versions so we have no sense of just how difficult it is to port a PSVR 1 game to PSVR 2. I'd love to be wrong on both those last points though. I'm trying to temper my expectations for the showcase. Really I just want to get serious evidence that Sony is supporting PSVR 2 long term with triple-A games. Oh and Half Life Alyx isn't essential, but it would absolutely go a long way toward getting people who are on the fence about PSVR 2 to buy in. Oh and I dunno if you missed it, but PSVR 2 has sold just under 600k headsets. It's an 8% improvement over PSVR 1, which isn't bad considering the conditions around the PSVR 1's launch were much more advantageous in many ways. It also makes it the fastest selling wired headset ever AFAIK. And it's more than double the figures posted by "industry analysts" in a recent Bloomberg hit piece (they were saying 270k, very doom and gloom). Hopefully the showcase boosts sales even further. Great video! Keep up the awesome work! 👍

Hey thanks for continuing to support! I just appreciate you and everyone else showing up! The 600k news came in as I was finishing this up so it was too late to go back, but I'm definitely talking about it in the next video. I'm SO excited for Sony. Even though I'm on Oculus, my first real VR experience was PSVR1. I'd love a good reason to go back. Cost is out of my range right now, but I actually think that it's worth the price. All factors considered, I think the price of PSVR2+PS5 tracks. It's fair.

@@ShoFuturistic Isn't that always the way? News will always drop just after it's too late to incorporate it into a video 🤣 I'm actually also waiting on getting a PSVR 2. I've got a PS5, and as a diehard PSVR 1 fan I really should have been on PSVR 2 at launch, but some of Sony's decisions and messaging gave me pause. I've been waiting for them to show they're actually supporting the headset with first-party games over the long term, even if it's just hybrid titles. Needless to say I'm still waiting. And I'm basically without VR for now. I can't bring myself to support Meta, I don't have the money for a PC VR setup, and can't really motivate myself to go back and play the PSVR 1 much anymore. Honestly I'm less excited for Sony and PSVR 2 after that showcase. It was lacklustre across the board, but especially for VR. Every PSVR 2 game they showed gameplay for were known quantities, and the gameplay they showed did nothing to increase my excitement for them, with maybe the exception of RE4 Remake. Hell, Synapse and Crossfire actually looked less impressive than previous trailers IMO. The other two games were only CG trailers. And nothing from Sony. Even on the flat side of things, Sony showed 4 first-party titles, 3 were CG trailers for GAAS shooters, and the other was Spiderman 2, which we've known was coming since 2021. Most of the games were multi-platform third-party titles, and a lot of them weren't very impressive. Such a let down. Meta might wind up doing a better job of showing off PSVR 2 games at their showcase than Sony did.

@@GreyMatterShades Sony's showcase was disappointing for sure. Meta can't do worse. There's 40 games in the Meta showcase. I'm going to address it more in the Runback, but like you, I just needed Sony to show one first party 'all-in' game. Just ONE. If they announced that and some kind of rollout plan for PSVR1 game remasters, and even SHORT list of hybrid games, that would've been great. 10 minutes max. Had to really think about the next episode. But yeah, that show cooled me on Sony quite a bit. All I can say is if UbiSoft was the AAA Switch cheerleader, Capcom is that for VR.
