I had the lower model of that soundbar the S20R There's a few problems with that system. First of all all the connections are on the subwoofer. Then there's the fact the soundbar doesn't support any form of DTS. If you put DTS audio through it you will not get any sound Another problem is the subwoofer is low with very little bass and when you increase the bass at a certain level it also increases mid range frequencies through the subwoofer and vocals are heard in the subwoofer too. Also the speaker badly needs tweeters. The high frequencies are almost non existent. But the surround sound is really good with the system.

Are there options to put the rear speakers on if playing music? And will they work with youtube videos?

@vagpap85 I'm very happy with it, the sound quality is great. I tested it out playing the Man Of Steel soundtrack, which really gave the speakers and sub a workout. But there was no distortion whatsoever. Its very easy to set up and use as well.

Hi - no unfortunately that wouldn't work - Dolby Atmos can't be transferred onto devices that don't support a Dolby Atmos output.

Is HDMI an audio output? I thought it would be to extract the audio from the HDMI as an input. I have a NUC (mini PC) without optical output so I was looking for a 5.1 system with HDMI input.

Atmos won't pass through on this it can't support its bandwidth or coding

In mine, when I take the sound output from HDMI ARC, the sound does not come out from the rear speakers. Can anyone help me? Also, when I use Bluetooth, I don't have this problem.

Is there anyway of adjusting the volume of the centre speaker without have to crank the system up as the dialogue is low it can get too loud even if your watching film it's hard to have on comfortable volume without disrupting other people in the house

I just purchased this home theater system last week from Walmart on clearance! I only paid $200!

How is it for handling low dialogue in movies is there like a voice clarity setting on it? And how is it without rear speakers?

There is a dialogue button the remote to make the vocals sound clearer, and you can also cycle through different audio modes to match whatever content you watch. I watch everything with the rear speakers and I just love when they shift the background noises to one of the rear speakers, because it really makes it sound like a cinema surround sound audio!

Is this better than a TV's 6 speakers dolby atmos built in Speakers?

Definitely recommend via HDMI, so that you can use our TV remote to control the audio at the same time, and sounds as equally as good.

Yes, you can - but just remember if you use Bluetooth, you may have some latency with audio syncing with the video.

Hi, i bought this and the subwoofer doesnt work. It works with all the conections and Bluetooth but it doesnt sound. Anybody have this problem?

Am using this sound bar with a hisence tv. The problem is when am switching on the tv, the sound bar doesn't pick up the sound automatically. Until i swith it off and on that is when it functions. Any remedy mayb?

Connect to TV with HDMI. Both should turn on together with your tv remote because this soundbar supports HDMI arc

The BT supports up to 5.0 currently, not 5.1 on this model. But if you use a Fire stick, which is connected to your TV, I don't think there will be any noticeable latency, since the stick is connected direct to TV, and the soundbar is also connected to the TV direct via HDMI. The bluetooth is for rear speakers only, but I wouldn't recommend you use the soundbar/woofer to connect to your TV via BT itself.

Hello! Thanks for the comment. So far, I've had it for around 2-3 weeks, and not had any problems with rear speakers at all. Pretty much everything on Netflix is 5.1 and it sounds great and I feel really immersed in the audio. I played a 7.1CH clip from KZread and yes, it converts it to 5.1, which still sounds pretty good. Hope that helps!

i have this for 3 months now, have never managed to make 5.1 work with this soundbar no matter what source input (console, PC, bluray player etc) The test tone plays correctly, but then it will simply not recognize and work with any surround sound source.

I’ve just bought this product. Set it up and sound comes out of the rear speakers all the time. In your video you state they should only work when sound in a movie for example they then kick in when rear sound like a car comes from behind. What has happened for the speakers to work constantly? Is the sound you get pretty Loud with all the dialogue and the whole show/movie playing from it? In some cases it will do very light constant sound if the content isn't shot in 5.1 audio

@@TrendingReviews Thanks for the reply. Slight sound coming out of the rear speakers all the time, even if it is shot in 5.1. It's not loud but always there, dosent sound like a car coming from rear or gun fire, that sort of thing, so is this correct, my old pioneer 5.1 played no sound unless it was designed to, unfortunately the pioneer gave up the ghost on monday so after watching your review decided to go with the S40. Not sure it was a good move unless I can sort this issue.

on lvl max it is okay. in my opinion, it is awesome for movies, but slightly above average in conditions of music.

how loud can the rear speakers go and what is the quality? I Was thinking of placing them by the end of my living room, far behind the couch

The rear speakers are not that loud, because they are made for the light background noises of the 5.1 Channel audio. I don't think there is a way to adjust them either - but if you sit next to them where they are visible, then you can hear good surround sound, otherwise if they are hidden behind the couch, you might not be able to hear them

You can adjust them to 6 dB and adjust the distance that's it nothing else you cannot adjust the centre or left and right channels don't buy it its waist of money go for a blue ray player with surround sound speakers and sub or a AV receiver with speaker package

That’s how 5.1 sound always worked. Its surround sound, not just stereo with extra speakers

I hooked this up yesterday to my LG TV and tested both HDMI with ARC and optical, but when I put on one of those videos on youtube to test each speaker it don't sound correct. Each sound that is suppose to be unique for each speaker is also heard in the other speakers. The front three I think is correct but sounds played for the two rear speakers are also heard in the front speakers? I have been looking for some settings on the soundbar system settings, but haven't found anything I that seems relevant for it. I tried watching the clips both using my Google Chromecast 4 and though the PS5. Both go through my LG TV, so could there be something that could cause problems like these or is it youtube not doing the mapping correctly? I tried the test on the actual device and there it outputs the noise in each speaker nicely, so not sure what is going on. Maybe I can try to test this with some with some other device, but not sure I have anything else.

How can I set up this sound bar to karaoke? Is it possible? Thanks

Hey - thanks for the comment! I would say the Sony ones would probably do a better job than the bookshelf speakers you have, as it would give a more surround sound experience - but thats my opinion, given that I've never owned a set of Edifier speakers. Hope thats help!

Nope, not had any problems with lag with rear speakers. They sound perfectly in sync all the time.

Put the sound bar behind the couch and the little speakers on the TV. I would rather hear the small things coming from the front and continuous sound coming from the back of me.

Yep, I would say it does :)

I cannot make 5.1 working at any circumstances. Test tone works fine, which proves that the speakers are not faulty, but it will simply not play surround sound, regardless of source - PC, 2 consoles, etc, tested with every possible combination of cables and settings. For me, its simply false advertising.

hey man the Sound from ur TV on its own Not Bad at all Don't know Y U have to have it only on 20 Volume it cud of gone Up a bit more Highly yes Sound from the SoundBar is more Basey & good Mid range. To be fair you should of Used the same demo for TV and your new sound system for it to be Truely a Side by Side Comparison
