Sorry , I don't have the schematics of EDV-5000. Service manuals for top Sony Beta VCRs may be hidden.

Hello there, I hope you can advise. My EDV-5000 suddenly not load tape. It load half then reverse back. Please help. Where can i look at it to fix it?

Please check the cassette housing .

Is there anyone in America who can repair an ED-Beta VCR - I am almost certain my drive belt is broken, and has been for decades.

Hi, did you get your machine fixed? Betamax man on KZread and Mr. Betamax via his website may be able to help. I would first take the bottom off the VCR and see if that tooth belt is indeed broken and let them know. Those tooth belts rarely break, but might be hard to find one.

@@superbetahifi No, I more or less gave up. A lifetime ago, I think I looked in and found a belt had broken. Do you know a good way to reach "Betamax man" and/or "Mr. Betamax"? I still have a drawer full of used and new tapes, but no way to do anything with them. Thanks for reminding me!

Do I need to replace the capacitor need the drum?

I have encountered a few cases where it was necessary to replace some capacitors in Head Amp PCB. You should also replace them.

Only two heads? No stereo, no special tricks?

Hi Vintaginside ! 2 heads but has stereo sound ( in Beta Hi-Fi decks , Hi-Fi FM is added to Video FM and it uses Video heads to read/write. Also the digital process conducts the trick mode.

@@misu4602 Hi Misu! Thanks for the detailed answer. My guess is that beta Hifi has a different arrangement for PAL machines, where you always need a pair of dedicated heads. Thumbs up for you, keep that good work.
