Man if this thing had better viewing angle and was $500 cheaper then I think it’d be a serious contender for a lot of people. At $2k it’s just too hard to forgive it for its obvious faults.

I saw it in store I prefer X93L over Bravia 7. Hisense 2022 U8H 160000:1 contrast ratio Evan look significantly better than 2024 Bravia 7 100000:1 . N Bravia 7 is too fine Grain Matted glare . 😮 At least X93L is glossier even tho X93L has (low dynamic contrast ) issue has soft image . 😮

Great work Abby and RTINGS! Thanks for the in-depth review of the Bravia 7! It would be great to have some confirmation if the Bravia 7 supports full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling at 4K 120hz with HDR/VRR enabled in both Game and PC mode. The Mediatek Pentonic 1000 SoC is likely to support this.

Rtings doesn't know this stuff. They clearly just have their formula and everything has to be OLED. Rtings is only interesting to see some measurement results. Their scoring makes zero sense. They value certain aspects more and that affect scoring when in reality for you or me that might have much less bearing on the score.

  • @Emptrix

    @Emptrix

    12 күн бұрын

@@Swecan76 Totally, I get your point and I don't rely too much on the scoring as well. It is difficult to please everyone when trying to adjust scoring formula. And yes, RTINGS are very useful for their measurement results which I've appreciated since 2016. Before discovering RTINGS, I had to bring my Laptop along with me to several stores just to test for full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling support and other aspects of picture quality via playing several test clips on each of the TVs on my consideration list just to finalize my buying decisions. I hope Rtings adds this additional test since there were stability and compatibility issues with this in the previous years as reported by multiple owners of several TVs.

What stings even more is that, here in Europe, we don't even get the Bravia 7 in 55". So basically the message from Sony is that, if I want a 2024 Sony TV in 55", it's OLED or bust.

I've had this TV for a week now, and I can honestly say I don’t see any issues with off angle viewing or reflections. Obviously, the screen has some reflection when it is off, but once it is on, there isn't an issue. I mean, if you are watching a very dark movie, while sittting in a brightly lit room, with bay windows, and every light in the house on there may be an issue, but that's what blinds and light switches are for. Picture processing is amazing in SDR and HDR. Upon rewatching some movies, I saw details and textures I didn’t know existed. Colors are very vibrant in SDR and HDR. Streaming even looks close or on par with disc. Gaming mode also looks great after a few minor adjustments. I thought my 2018 Vizio P65-f1 looked great, but after staring at this TV for a week, I may have been very wrong. If you get this TV you will not be disappointed. I'm convinced that they review these TVs in some absurd lighting conditions and from angles no one will ever be watching from.

Ok so I own the 75” Bravia 7. Coming from a 75x95g. I primarily use my TV for watching films on bluray (standard and 4k discs), streaming through all the standard apps and sport (4k when available). No gaming. I’ve calibrated it to Rtings recommendations but honestly out of the box it was pretty close. Does it have some reflection during the day when it’s full sunny, yes but it’s honestly not annoying or something that affects the viewing experience. Is there blooming, yes but honestly only if your really looking for it and when I say looking for it’s totally not a factor. Viewing angle isn’t that bad either. I feel like these things are big beat ups and really great to know but in real world factors not an issue. You can complain about the price but you’re buying the Rolls Royce of processing and brand imo. Accuracy and true to the directors content is what I’m all about and this is flawless! I’m not justifying my purchase, I got it super cheap through good contacts so I’m lucky but the tv is really amazing

MediaTek (who make the SOC in Sony’s TVs, along with many other brands) have just announced a new chip that allows for all four HDMI ports to be HDMI 2.1 and will be in consumer TVs from 2025. So if having all four HDMI ports be 2.1 compatible is important to you then you might want to wait another year to upgrade.

I don’t know dude , I saw it last week at Bestbuy .i prefer the SONY X93L(semi gloss, more glossy version of Semi) over this one . The Bravia7 has thick fine grain matted screen . I don’t like it too much . If you had X95 level tv (usually SONY put the X95 level tv more glossy ) you might NOT like the Bravia 7 as much . Bravia 7 Fine grain Matted . Yes image will be major upgrade for sure . 👍🏻 just others TVs significantly better than Bravia 7 3yrs ago already . Samsung QN95B ,Hisense U8H (google panel ) in 2022 already going at around 160000-200000:1 contrast ratio . The Bravia 7 just doing 100000:1 today. Hisense U8N just came out 290000:1 contrast ratio . U8N is not even Flagship . 😊 n glossy. N there is U9N wll launch later year with Newest ADS-Pro panel (American Company BOE , 2X contrast of ADS, surpass VA, 180 degree viewing angle . FULL Gloss screen ) , TCL QM851 (VA) . U better wait out for the Best LEDs launch in the Fall :)

I went down the same path as you about 3 years ago. As someone who owns a sony a90j, if you're a brightness nut and want the best HDR experience when gaming, mini led is the way to go. I have had so many problems with ABL kicking in on my OLED. And the sdr brightness is laughable. I'm getting the Bravia 9. You really need to figure out what you prioritize. If it's pixel response, you want an OLED. If you want HDR pop, mini led. Oleds still struggle to come out of pure black to gray and suffer from black crush. When gaming, I've had issues not seeing people in dark corners due to this. I made a video on my channel covering my thought process

Their only complaint seems to be off angle viewing and reflections which aren't really even an issue.

The viewing angles kill this TV because unlike the X90L which launched at $1,299 and dropped at $1,099, it's nearly double the price with better local dimming and more brightness (the X90L is decent). It's unacceptable at that price range... They should have gone with an ADS Pro, AUO, or even an IPS panel. It's insanity.

Why is the local dimming sooo SLOWWW??! Can't watch any action with that rubbis, games will suffer significantly too unless they changed it for game mode, does Rtings have any actual talent on their team to go beyond standard procedure?

yeah, get the LG C4 and enjoy DSE and OLED burning in less than a year or the Hisense with the color/white accuracy of a potato, and as reliable as a Chrysler the B7 isn't perfect, but I'd rather have poor viewing angles at 30+ degrees, than the B9/X93/X95L with Sony's X-Wide angle coat that is easily removed with a wet fabric, staining the screen permanently

This TV is not worth. Bad viewing angles in 2024 is really a mess. The great contrast is destroyed if you move off center. ADS panel would be better if they not want to use a wide viewing filter. VA without that is bad.

lol at saying the Hisense is better for gaming when half its features don’t work in gaming mode and it’s motion handling is HORRIBLE.

Why did they ruin this tv with a poor viewing angle? Did they have to cheap out on the X wide angle?!

Of course nothing on the market can beat Oled’s contrast. But miniLED has its place on the market such as high brightness and color volume.

@@jollama Nah. Just thrifty. I prefer to spend money on trips instead. Mid-range Sony is still reliable enough for me. I also preferred plasma TVs but I prefer to keep something for as long as possible than having to create more e-waste. I end up watching everything on 120Hz AMOLED smartphone screen anyway.

@kev3226 Well, what is the point of brightness if reflection handling is poor and TV has to dim highlights to avoid blooming. These are still TVs but not worth the price.
