Can't we just appreciate the fact that while Canon and Nikon were trying to anticipate and one-up eachother *just enough* to beat the other but *not enough* to give people what they wanted, Fujifilm and Sony just swallowed the market from under both of them? I respect both Fujifilm and Sony for giving the market what it wants, properly. (Disclosure: I use Fuji)

@@Eikenhorst Nikon doesn't have good lineup of dx lenses, and using full frame glass on a crop sensor usually means you're paying more money or carrying a lot of extra weight. Plus, the nikon non-telephoto professional full frame zoom lenses end up being an awkward range on a crop sensor But yeah, a d500 is probably better if you're a professional wildlife or sports photographer.

@@Eikenhorst To each their own, but I have to disagree there. I carried around the monster Nikon with a huge heavy glob of wide angle glass on the front for years and it was tiring and not fun to use. The autofocus also was horrible compared to nearly everything else out there. Replaced it with a Sony mirrorless setup that is a fraction of the size and weight and does a phenomenal job. Autofocus is worlds better as well. Have also used Fuji and loved it by comparison too. Just ended up with Sony for the FF sensor. ;)

@@viketsomeyase2004 Def don't feel jealous. What if they get the system and they find that it doesn't suit their shooting needs/wants/style. Well now they have to sell a very expensive system and buy into a new system that will fit their life better. This is why I always tell beginners to go with the cheapest system (within reason) that they can find. Because reviews can only tell you so much about what you need in a camera system. You won't know for sure if it's for you until you get shooting. No shade if you can afford the time/money/effort to swap camera systems easily should you not enjoy what you bought initially. I started on Fuji and my needs/wants were drastically different to what Fuji offered. So it was a lot of time and energy spent selling and buying new systems after shooting for a while and determining through experience what my needs were. But if I wasn't able to afford that, I would have been stuck with a camera I didn't like, and I may have even given up photography altogether if it was too difficult to change systems for me.(or worse I could have ended up on Sony) :D Most flagships are more than the majority of shooters will ever need anyways. By starting on a system without all the bells and whistles to distract you, you have the potential to learn your fundamentals and build your foundations a lot quicker than someone like me who started with a really fancy system and spent half my time googling what the menu settings were and why my camera was doing something I didn't mean to make it do. The main takeaway here is that your first camera gets you shooting. And if you are doing that then you are on the right path.

Honestly, I have an x-t4 and I'm thinking of going the other way. Ya, I might save 1.5-2k on a camera body, but 1.5 stops of extra light on the sensor is a big deal. To make up for that with the lens is just plain expensive. To get an f/1.2 or f/1.4 lens in the Fuji APS-c ecosystem is pricey, but there are plenty of f/1.4 or f/1.8 options in the full frame ecosystems. Even if they're 2/3 of a stop slower, the bigger sensor more than makes up for it, and those lenses are more affordable. Plus adapting vintage lenses doesn't need an expensive adapter that, more often than not, degrades the IQ. I love the tactile feeling of my x-t4. It's a huge pleasure to use, but I don't think it's a good long-term choice.

I'm a Sony Sales Representative that shoots Fuji. I love my Fuji system and use it professionally. The sensor DR is so good these days that FF is pretty much losing its grip in terms of advantageous. Does that mean there is no market for a FF system? Not at all. It's still there! But for many shooters who bite the marketing they don't understand what they want to do and how to do it. Can I shoot great portraits with an APSC? Yes, with a FF obviously, at what cost though? The difference is just some setting changes and that changes depending on lighting situation. I'm a big APSC advocate. I don't see myself needing FF but if I did it would be Sony. Sony dominates with reason but I don't agree with the "If you get into FF you'll easily get into the S and R" reasoning because R series requires a HEAVY investment in glass and post power. The S? It's not as practical as it's said. To sum, If Sony would take APSC seriously they would easily give Fuji a scare. But FF is something that more and more is sold as a all in one system and as I said before that's quickly closing with the advancements in technology. I Still sell shit tons of Sony gear and that mainly has to do with how Fuji is perceived and not actual value.

I'm deeply invested into and very happy with my XF mount cameras & lenses for every reason Chris gives. However, Jordan is right about the quality of the Sony a7 III sensor. I know how to make my Fuji's turn out good results, but once I figured out how to use the Sony (and maybe upgraded my computer to accommodate the Sony's larger file size?), I bet I'd be happy with the Sony a7 III too. However, if I make a format move, it will be to the GFX 100S.

I had the A7iii and while it is a fantastic camera, there was always something missing when I used it. I am not going to talk about glass, because good glass is always expensive, no matter the brand or size. I now have an XT-4, paired it with the 16-55mm f2.8 Fuji lens. This is an amazing kit. One thing I have to say - Fuji has style and character!

I was choosing between the X-T3 and A7 III for my first "real" camera back in 2018 and the price of the lens ecosystem across the board won me over. The fact that they regularly do firmware updates for the latest and greatest features counts for something too. That being said, I feel like even Sony's old autofocus algorithms on the RX100 are better than they are on the Fuji (at least the X-T3), as I shoot a ton of multicam content for work and use a mix of RX100 and Z-V1 cameras. I've thankfully never really missed important shots, but when I was filming social content for a brand at World's Strongest Man a few months back, there were a few scenes that were just too complex for the X-T3 that I know even the RX-100 VII would've had no issues with. Switched to manual focus on the fly and got what I needed, but not ideal. Never really saw a difference with similar lenses for photography between (good) APSC and full-frame, just usability and features between bodies. I shoot video for sports, food, and products for a living and do a ton of portraits on my own time and my only real request on something like the X-H2 is better AF. (Aside from a better codec, 4k120, blah blah. 12mp sensor if we're making wishlists.) If not...I hope Sony decides to ship Jordan an FX3 ASAP. Love your stuff guys. As far as weather sealing, I can confirm Fuji has the lead. I had my XT2 during a hard mountain rain storm in Colorado and shot through all of it with zero issues and zero protection for it. Later I switched to a Sony A7iii for the full frame look, and took on a hiking trip during the winter where it was dropped in snow. After that it gave me an error message the rest of the day and sometimes it comes on in light rain. The Fujifilm is incredible in terms of weather sealing. I wish Sony would have added more into the a7iii body, for a semi pro body it is disappointing that I have to worry about it if the clouds go dark.
