Sony A6700 Hands-On Photo and Video Review
Photos edited with my new Dulce Lightroom Preset Pack: www.digitalfilmactions.com/li...
Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share my hands-on review of the new Sony A6700, finally an update to their alpha APSC line. Today I have 1 crop frame lens which is the G 15mm f1.4 and 5 full frame lenses I am using to test out this camera body for both photo and video. I am using the G 20mm f1.8, GM 24mm f1.4, GM 35mm f1.4, GM 70-200mm f2.8 mkII and the G 200-600mm. I share with you examples of Human AF, Airplane AF, Animal AF and Bird AF tests and we see how this camera performs at a real world portrait photoshoot. I also have video examples to share with you where we see what the A6700 4K 50p and 4K 100p footage looks like ungraded. I also test this camera out for vlogging with the G 15mm, compare the IBIS and do a mic test. I really hope you enjoy this jam packed review!!

This video is NOT sponsored, Sony Australia got this camera in my hands early so I can make this review (thank you!) but all thoughts and opinions are my own. They do not review this video before it goes live.

I for one am glad they are making the on/off switch more difficult to trigger - I have been using their cameras for a while now and usually carry them quite densely packed in a very compact bag (billingham hadley small). Too often have I got my camera out just to find the battery entirely drained because its been accidently on all day. Its gotten so bad I have started carrying my batteries outside of my camera bodies to prevent them accidently switching on.
One of the best camera reviewer ❤, others 90% show only their face not what the camera can do.
The Active Steadyshot looks as nice as we have seen it on the ZV-E1 and I think that this is very nice to see.
Great job on the video Julia! Thanks for making it.
I'm new to your channel and this is the second video I watched. First was your review on the A7C. And I love your style of review. It's very.... inclusive. In the sense of a lot of KZread tech reviewers look at lower priced tech and constantly just default to saying "Buy the one that's $1000 more because it has more features". But instead of making videos that are primarily about what a camera CAN'T do because of its price point, you make it about the value that you DO get at it's price. Everybody isn't trying to spend $3K+ on a camera and the reality is most people (including some professionals) don't NEED a camera at that level yet (I said yet lol). But I love that you actually really use the camera and show your work in detail. I think what needs to be considered in all reviews is the skill of the photographer making the review. Because that's very relevant. Nonetheless, great review and I look forward to more of your work. Subbed.

Internal mic sounds really good. I really like it and also 4k 100p buttery smooth slo motion for cinematics
This is the type of review I was looking for.
Looks like it’s time to upgrade my a6400 to this new camera. Thanks for the great video!
Best review I've watched on the 6700💯.
Superb wait is over 😍
Thank you for this really detailed review 👍
Brilliant as always, thank you guys!
Thanks for another great video. You always hit on exactly what I'm wondering about. :D
When the weight of my bulky DSLRs with bulging heads bore on me I switched to Sony’s a6xxx compact series. Now, I’m in my mid-seventies and had long shelved DSLRs. No longer keen on changing lens, I’m now using Sony RX100 series and looking forward for the release of the RX100 VIII.

Thanks for an awesome review, what would you recommend as a starter lens for the a6700 primarily photos/videos for traveling (landscapes/portrait).
Good video - thanks. I'm enjoying the A6700, I think it's a great camera. My one 'wish' (which agrees with your comment) is that the on/off switch be re-positioned to where it's located on the other Sony cameras.
finally some practical examples rather than just talking about specs!
Julia, I am with you about the IP ratings! Come on Sony, be a leader in this regard!!!

Hi Julia, I'm interested to know your thoughts on using G Master lenses on the A6700, do you think the image quality is that much better than any other APS-C lenses? I have the Sigma 23mm f1.4 plus a Tamron 17-70 but I'm really tempted with this 35mm 1.4 GM.
Vloggers are very lucky to get this first.. I live in the Philippines we'll probably get this in December 😅😅 new gadgets are very late here.
Thanks for the review. Do you know if active steady shot has a low medium and high setting like canon g7x, so handy to have the levels. Cheers
Great review Julia! The only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger is if the AutomFraming works with HDMI out. If I understand it well, all your picture in picture images that showed how AF was working…must've been taken with HDMI, tight? But I'm wondering if this would work in a livestream when I plug the HDMI into the CamLink and go live… Thanks if anybody can confirm this
Hi Julia! Great video! Any recommendations on an SD card that doesn't break the bank for the a6700? We mainly will be using it for music videos and green screen work at 4k 60fps (we do a lot of slow motion). Thank you!
yo that's dope af

Amazing video. Can you make review on Sigma 85 1.4 DG DN for sony? I would love to see what you can create with it ❤️
Awesome video! I always wondered why you have tape over your lens?
Hi Julia! I am wanting to pull the trigger on getting the A6700 since it came out but wanted to research its reviews regarding the performance while shooting wildlife. I already have a Nikon D5300 that I use with 15-55 and 70-200 mm lenses. Wanted to own a mirrorless camera now. What would you suggest?
Internal mic is really damn good for what it is
How is the LCD screen vs the XS20? And which camera did you enjoy using more? I've got an A7RV but I'm looking for a smaller cheaper body for walk around photography.
my pulse dropped when you said 759 which i thought was the price, then after a few miliseconds, i crashed to find that you were talking about af points. the flickness of the off/on switch is better since one can't accidentally flip it.
Great Sony a7600 Review -one of the best. I like it.

For the AF tests during photo and video I used the APSC G 15mm f1.4. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time for my photoshoot though which is why I used my own lenses. I have another APSC lens with me now, so I’m thinking of doing another photoshoot with it!

Ohh. I wanna see a comparison between Sony A6700 and Fujifilm X-S20.
what is your low light experience with it is like? is it finally matching full frame? i been waiting for the day apsc matches FF performance
Great review I’m wanting to get this camera but the over heating issues is pushing me away
If you were to get a daily driver for artsy looking photography and video, maybe especially low light conditions. Would this be that camera to go with, or would you recommend something else? I am not really looking for a budget solution. I am looking for a good solution.
This is exactly what we wanted to see a better review of the Sony A6700. Just loved the way you explained in detail ❤❤❤ but could you please tell me which lens did you use?😊😊😊

I bought my X-S20 a day before the A6700 was released - while I love it, I am getting IBIS wobbling in handheld video with wide lenses (13mm Viltrox F1.4). Are you getting IBIS wobbles on the Sony at all with ultra wide lenses?
Okay, I think you have helped me figure everything out! I have the Sony 24mm F1.4 GM and the Sony 200-600mm G OSS lens (currently shoot wildlife) and had a Sony A7III (sold it). I had been debating between moving to APS-C for the lighter weight (especially for travel). I am looking forward to the official announcement of the Sony A7Cii next week. I really want to have two camera and as a hobbyist, would consider myself a hybrid shooter. So, I could get the Sony A6700 now, and then add the Sony A7Cii when released. I could then get the 50mm F1.4 GM (which would be 75mm equiv on the A6700), and maybe either the Sony 11mm f1.8 or the Sony 15mm f1.4 (for wide on the app-c). I would think the color science would be about the same on the two cameras as they would both have some tech as they were released close together in time!

@@Cthames123 I got the Sony a7c ii to go along with my a74. Same color profile which is nice! I am using the a7c ii for lightweight travel.
If I am using the Manual mode (M), then I chose a certain Picture Profile (PP), will the PP be applied to both videos and still photos? Or just to videos when you press record and not to still photos when you press the photo shutter?
Great video and review. Just got my A6700 with the 18 to 135mm and the monster 200 to 600G mainly for aircraft photography.

Many thanks for sharing Julia, shots speak for themselves however the video where your cat was "touching" your hand (with his / hers!!) paw is priceless!!!
How does it compares to Fujifilm XS20 in terms of colors? Kitties!😻😻
Congratulations on your video. I didn't hear a comment about overheating in the video (the big disadvantage of this camera unfortunately..) 4K by force 20-30 minutes. The 6400 produces video without a problem for more than an hour (the battery is running out and the indicator does not produce) The main reason (personally) that prevents me from buying it

I have this and if u take 4k 60 fps at 200mbps than max 30min and it will shut down. But if u go 4k 4.2.2 10bit at 100mbps, no heating shutdown. Record as long u want
So how do you select focus points on this camera without the joystick? Like when you are using spot focus.
Wowww now a7cii will come

Regarding the on off switch. I hate the one on my A6000 as it sometimes switches on when I put it back to my bag. So maybe this was the reason they changed it.

*It's a Nice Hybrid Camera and I'm Glad Sony didn't forget it, But I'm done with the Hybrid Camera as I had the a6400 but the real star of these last (2) new camera's the ZV-E1 and a6700 is the AI processor. Other then that it's still a higher end of the a6600 but still the AI movement is Pretty legit, but I love My FX30 as it's akin to my needs but I'll still want another camera later on*
Being a full frame shooter, I can say this is a very nice little camera that I could imagine using for street photography and travel. The main downside being it has a flippy screen as in street photography, I would prefer to have the screen in the same axis I'm photographing and also not having to flip the screen out would make me more inconspicuous in the streets. On the side not, I have to agree with your appreciation for the 20mm G lens. I recently added it to my kit and I'm very happy I did.
@tibszabo
Жыл бұрын
It's strange to hear that the flippy screen is a downside, all the big names of photographers I see in youtube are mindblown about the RV-s flippy screen that finally came. I had a panasonic fz300 and missing that screen sooooooo much, I'd use that feature 100 times a day when I'm doing street photos.
